“Congratulations.”
“Humm?” Irmo looked down from the tree he was sitting in. “What did I do now?”
“Oh, I suppose you’ve not yet heard the news,” answered the solemn voice of the Ainu below the tree. “It regards your son.”
“What did he do now?”
“He has found himself a mate.”
Floating down to the ground, Irmo’s face darkened as his feet touched the grass. “Do not play my mind, dear sister.”
“I speak not in jest,” replied Nienna. “Long you have mourned his penchant e ale alone, and now, he dreams peacefully in the arms of his lover.” Raising one brow in a challenging motion, she added, “I’m surprised you didn’t already know, considering he is in your realm at the moment.”
Grinning at his sibling, Irmo’s carefree expression resurfaced as he said, “All then is well, as for long I had hoped it would be. It appears you have more knowledge than I on the subject, and if I may ask, who is she that sleeps in the arms of my son?”
The small smile that had emerged turned grim. Nienna took a step back and said nothing.
