Author's note : Haldir is a “Watch” Warden in my fic. Some mistakes with putting Elrohir’s name instead of Elladan. Sorry. It happens. Too many elves with similar names. LOL. The Battle Is Short, I hate long battle scenes. I'm not that good at writing them.

CHAPTER SIX

Orc brothers Hishnak and Grugor ran as the party continued forward. Hishnak was bigger than Grugor and always faster, but this time the younger orc was keeping up onceonce. Hishnak didn’t know why they weren’t getting any rest, or what was so special about the stupid elves they were chasing but he’d overheard their leader talk about a ‘reward’ for the ‘slayer’. Vrilg, their captain had promised that everyone would get a share of the reward, which meant he’d keep most of it. They had not yet been told what the reward -was- but only that the elf had to be returned alive and in one piece. They had been waiting, having been told that the slayer would leave Rivendell soon and that they could nab him if they were ready. So they had cooled their heals for -months-. Hishnak almost -had- the elf, his axe had struck home. Another one had intervened. Vrilg had said that their ‘master’ wanted this elf. They would be well rewarded if they succeeded, and punished severely if they did not. So when Grugoartearted to slow down, Hishnak shoved his brother forward brutally and growled in black speech. “Stupid, slow down and it’ll be your legs on the menu tonight instead of the elves.”

Elladan stayed at Glorfindel’s side, the other elves had been busy putting together his plan involving a lot of well placed elvish rope and a parameter designed to trap and hold off the oncoming horde. Now that he was in control, he would be able to deal with the horde. Before they had been caught off-guard. He looked down at his friend who was slipping in and out of consciousness because of the medication he’d been given. Glorfindel was half-hidden at the base of the tree now, camouflaged as much as possible.

So time had finally run out, one of the scouts had rushed back and declared that they were coming. The elves made ready with their wns, ns, now sturdy on the ground and the traps prepared. The horde came in a resounding fury, their weapons screeching against the air as they fought. Ropes well timed caused casualties greater than would be expected given the small number of elves compared to the horde. Orc after orc was tripped, felled, collected and slain. As far as the elves were concerned, they were orcs, and that made them dead already.

Whilst the battle was raging, Haldir and Rumil finally found their way to the party, just in time for two of Haldir’s arrows, one right after the other, to slice through Grugor’s head as he was about to attack Elladan from behind. The pair leapt off their horses and joined the fray with their usual style and grace. There was no time for official greeting, but a welcome smile was sent to Haldir in spite of Rumil’s presence.

They fought, long and hard, the sound reaching high volumes as the orcs began to dwindle, one by one. Elves, prepared, had a much better time of defeating an enemy than when surprised. The Battle did not last long once the leader was slain.
One orc, however…crawled from the place he fell, not looking back. He knew they had lost the battle, he also knew that their master would be furious. However, he might have a chance to return with more if his master was informed of what happened. He hoped in his black heart that he would be able to return, for they had killed his brother. Even an orc knew what that meant, and he vowed revenge, cursing them all in the darkest speech of the land.

Breathing heavily, Haldir found his way to Elladan and reached out to clasp his hand. “Elladan, thank Valar we found you. Gladriel had indicasomesomething like this might happen. It appears though, that you have everything well in hand.”

Rumil kept his expression neutral, cleaning off an arrow after pulling it from a dead orc body. He had known this was coming, but was not entirely sure how to deal with it right now. Therefore, he simply decidedremaremain calm and quiet. It did not matter that Haldir was touching Elladan, nor did it matter that they shared an intimate look that Rumil had often wished to receive from his brother. No…no that was a futile wish. The elf sighed, and gazed about. “There will probably be more. This was a hunting party.”

“Aye. They would not rest until they found us.” Elladan nodded, glancing over to Rumil as he decided to throw caution to the wind and reach out to hug Haldir. The elder elf took his friend easily and he breathed a sigh of relief. “Haldir, its so good to see you.” One hand strayed at the base of the Watch Warden’s neck, and left it easily. Though elves were tolerant of any kind of relationship, Elladan had other things to deal with. “Glorfindel…” He released Haldir and moved quickly to the blonde elf.

Erestor and Elrohir had been riding hard when they heard the sounds of battle from afar. Unfortunately, they had arrived at the tail end of it, anst ist in time to see Haldir get embraced by Elladan. Elrohir’s eyes flashed angrily, but he did not say anything. Erestor was not paying attention however, to Haldir and Elladan, he was scanning the area for … Where was Glorfindel? His heart leapt into his throat. No…it couldn’t possibly be so.

Rumil was the first to see Erestor and Elrohir smiling a little for he had always gotten along better with Elrohir than Elladan. Elrohir swung off his horse and hurried forward. “Rumil, how came you to be here?” Elrohir forced his gaze away from Haldir and Elladan.

Before Rumil could answer, Erestor saw Elladan kneeling by the unconscious form of Glorfindel and gave a sharp intake of breath. He jumped off his own steed and was immediately there, “Elladan…What happened?” His hand involuntarily going to the back of Glorfindel’s head and stroking it gent“Is “Is he alright?” He couldn’t help but notice the bandage across the ancient elf’s eye and feel how weak he was.

Elladan looked up in surprise when he saw Erestor, and then scowled when he saw his twin. “Damnit. You should not be here, Elrohir." Then he nodded to Erestor, "It was aimed deliberately. I think they were trying to knock him out. The axe that was thrown was more blunt than sharp. He will be alright, but he has lost a lot of blood, and…”

“And?” Erestor worried his bottom lip.

“He was asking for you, I think he might fare much better now that you are here, but damnit. Why -are- you here? Father doesn’t like both of us outside of Rivendell at the same time! You -know- that, Elrohir."

“There was no containing Elrohir, and you know better than I. I came to make sure he didn’t get into trouble.” Eresgazegazed down at the prone form of Glorfindel, clearly that wasn’t the -only- reason he had followed.

“I will let you wake him up.” Elladan rose, glaring at his twin. The elder twin then stomped over to where Rumil and Elrohir was and grabbed the younger by his ear. “What have you got in that brain of yours, cotton?!?” Elladan growled.

Haldir quietly went about picking up his arrows, shooting a worried glance at Rumil, who was also scowling.

Elrohir grasped his brother by the shirt and shoved him away. “I was worried!” his own voice rose to a similar high pitch. It was clear that the brothers were about to get into a shouting match. “A horse came back riderless, if you -must- now. How was I to know you wouldn’t be the one injured.”

“You!” Elladan shook his head in angry frustration. Now what were they going to do? He couldn’t very well continue to Lothlorien, because Elrond would have his head.

The loud voices were enough to bring Glorfindel out of the realm of oblivion and his eyes focused blearily. The first thing he noticed was the fact that there were dead orcs lying around for he could smell their blood. The second thing was…no…he must be imagining it. “Erestor?” he swallowed hopefully. It couldn’t possibly be. Glorfindel laughed softly at himself, he was naturally seeing things.

Erestor felt something change in his heart as he heard the plaintive words from the wounded elf. He took one of Glorfindel’s hands and clasped it gently. “I’m here.” he said clearly. “The orcs are gone now, its alright.”

Glorfindel’s eyes widened as he realized that indeed it was Erestor. “How…when….?” He began, but then he decided that he had wasted enough time already. If Erestor -was- here, it meant that he cared. It must mean that….or he would be somewhere else. “Erestor…” He murmured, reaching up and grasping the other’s tunic, pulling him down to Glorfindel’s level.

Not altogether completely surprised, Erestor did not struggle. Normally he would have, normally he would have jumped clear from the elf. This time he did not resist when Glorfindel took his lips in a hungry kiss. This time, he found himself parting his own and even responding. Their tongues swept together as though they had never been apart. It lasted for what seemed like eternity until Erestor found that ealleally needed to draw breath and found himself released. There was no slap, and he did not pull away. His mind screamed warning signals at him in every form and yet he remained where he was, his hand caressed gently by the blonde elf’s as Glorfindel gazed at him.

Someone cleared his throat, and Erestor dragged his eyes away from Glorfindel to see that everyone had been staring at them with their mouths hanging open. And not surprisingly, Elrond’s advisor could not avoid the blush that spread from his neck to his cheeks.

Erestor’s mind whirled from the implications of everything that had led up to this moment. What did he feel? He couldn’t…no. He had stopped feeling a long time ago. He shuddered a little, gaining a slight frown from Elladan.

“Are you alright?” Glorfindel asked softly from behind, trying to take his hand again.

No. No. Not again.

*flashback*

“Tight. Very tight…My Lovely One. ” brutal words were like daggers into his heart, and Erestor valiantly tried to keep himself from remembering. “You like this….You want this…”

Erestor could remember his own horrifying words. “Yes…please…Master…”

And thick lips, cracked from many days under the sun ravaged his own.

*end flashback*

He buried the vision and snatched his hand away, rising abruptly. “I’m glad that you’ll be alright.” His legs shook slightly, but he did rise and step away from the elf who had just thoroughly kissed him. He focused on Elladan and forced his body to move forward. “If Haldir and Rumil are here, we should go back to Rivendell. Elladan is quite right, you know what your father would say.”

Stunned, Glorfindel rubbed his face and tried to figure out just what had happened. For the life of him he had no idea, Erestor had responded, had even seemed to care. But…

“Yes, back to Rivendell.” Elladan snapped in response.

Elrohir’s temper flared and he looked away from his brother’s stormy eyes, finding Rumil’s. The other elf gave him a sympathetic look, apparentlyersterstanding. Elrohir had not been able to help himself, he couldn’t have just stood by. I love you. He wanted to yell at his brother’s back as Elladan strode over to Haldir and the two began a low conversation. Strangely enough, it was Rumil’s hand on his shoulder that steadied him.
