Legolas hurried through the halls toward the council chambers, he was late again. As he had stayed up late last night reviewing prison parole records. Sighing he remembered that King Eomer would also be at the meeting. He had arrived lat last night seeking help with some mercenaries that had been plaguing Rohan for quite some time. Legolas reached hid destination and he tapped lightly upon the door before entering. He took his seat blushing as every eye in the room looked at him. Several council members glared at him, Aragorn gave him a small nod and smile, Haldir looked worriedly at him, and Eomer smiled. Aragorn continued on as if nothing had happened and for that Legolas was grateful. Eomer was showing where the last known location of the mercenaries were. He pointed to a small strip of land sandwiched between Gondor and Rohan.

"They have a base there. But as you can see it is not exactly in Rohan but almost in Gondor." Eomer said as he pointed on a map.

Aragorn nodded seeing the problem, that small strip was a no mans land. A haven for crooks, and other disreputable sorts. But as it was not only in Rohan but Gondor the people felt safe. If Rohan's solider's moved in they would come to Gondor complaning, and if Gondor moved in they would go to Rohan.

"We need to do this together...if we move seperatly...." Aragorn trailed off.

Eomer nodded. "So you see the problem then."

"Aye. Haldir how long would it take to arrange a sutiable force to take this haven?" Aragorn asked as he looked at his mate.

"About three days. Some of the new recruits will need further training before we can leave them in defence of Gondor." Haldir responded promptly.

"I can have my men here in that time." Eomer told Aragorn.

"So in three days time we will move in on this haven and let them know what happens to those that plague Gondor and Rohan." Aragorn proclaimed.

The council moved on to more mundane things and several hours later the session was ended. Legolas stood and left before Haldir or Aragorn could stop him. They would be angry if they knew he was staying up late again.

Eomer watched as Legolas left in a hurry and he followed him outside.

"Legolas!" He called out and the elf stopped and looked back. Eomer caught up with the prince smiling. "How have you been? You look better the when I last saw you."

Legolas smiled and resumed his walking with Eomer at his side. "Fine. How have you been you highness?"

Eomer laughed and waved aside the title. "Please do not call me that! We are equal ank ank besides I consider you a friend."

Legolas smiled and nodded. "As you wish Eomer and I also consider you my friend. Would you like to join me for a drink?"

"Sure." Eomer followed Legolas until they reached Legolas's rooms.

Legolas motioned for him to sit upon a couch in front of the fireplace. Looking around Eomer realized that Haldir and Aragorn also slept here. Legolas fetched the fey wine his father had given him and two goblets. Legolas poured two glasses and set the wine of a small table in front of the couch. He sat next to Eomer and they drank in companionable silence.

"Seriously Legolas how have you been? You haven't..." Eomer trailed off.

"Cut myself? No. But I was poisoned a few days ago." Legolas admitted.

"Poisoned? By who?" Eomer was agast.

"No idea. The target was Lady Arwen but circumstances happened." Legolas filled him in on all that had happened. He also told him about the Valar's gift.

Eomer listed carefully to this intriguing tale of mystery and excitement. When Legolas was finished Eomer smiled at him mirth visible in his eyes.

"I'll bet Haldir and Aragorn were thrilled by the gift." Eomer laughed as the elf turned red.

"Yes...Very thrilled." Legolas muttered.

Suddenly the door opened as Haldir entered look around. His eyes fell upon Eomer and Legolas sitting very close in front of the fire and his eyes narrowed. Eomer saw the look and realized how bad things must look to the guard. Legolas saw the look also and stood sighing, Eomer followed suit.

"We have been looking for you Legolas! Lord Elrond wants to see you.....in his chambers." Haldir said as he looked at his mate then at Eomer.

Legolas nodded and turned to Eomer. "I thank you for your company and concern Eomer. I will see you later at dinner."

Eomer nodded and smiled at the prince. "Thank you for the drink..."

Legolas turned and left the room without saying a word to his mate. Haldir turned to Eomer questions in his eyes but before he could speak Eomer inturrupted angrily.

"You should not even be thinking on such things Haldir o Lorien. I know about elves and I know once they are bonded they cannot be with anyone but their mate. You know this also! He invited me here for a drinka and accepted becauseisheished to see if he was better. I am glad he is just as I am glad that you yourself have made an excellet recovery now if you will excuse me I have to retire for I am suddenly tired." Eomer said as he left the room and leaving a stunned Haldir in his wake.
