Billy had been led in front of a metal door, with a small-latticed window. When he entered it with Ben behind him he felt like a prisoner, it looked that much like a jail chamber. Stone walls, old and ruined. If it hadn’t been for the computer, which was standing on a little wooden table in a corner, it would have looked like in the 18th century.
Ben ordered Billy to sit down on the chair in front of the computer and to start working immediately. Billy didn’t feel very sure about that, he had been forced to come here, he was being watched all the time, and he didn’t even get to see the boss. If it was still him at all. Maybe he was dead, too. Maybe Ben was the new head of the gang. He was clever and brutal enough.
“So, what exactly is yer problem?”, Billy asked fingers ready to type passwords and codes.
“We already have a plan how to get in, but the thing is that the cameras that are inside the building are being controlled from outside, no cables so we can’t just cut them through, it’s all connected to some kind of security system. Someone who’s not in the bank. We’ve already got into the system, but there are about 64 codes to get to the function to block all the cameras and turn them off. And that’s where you’re coming into the game.”
“64 codes… Did ye already find out some of them?”
“Well, not really. You see, if you pass through one code it leads you to another one and so on.”
“How d’ye know there are 64 of them?”, Billy asked suspiciously.
“64 cameras in the building.” Ben grinned.
Billy whistled silently though his teeth.
“That’s a hell of job ye picked there.”
He entered the site of the security system and the first code box appeared.
“But Ah guess 5 million dollars are worth the risk, huh?”

The phone didn’t ring again. Which was weird. Why would someone call Dom to tell him he knew where Billy was and then not call back? And why the heck did this someone know Dom’s phone number? Did he knew Billy himself? What was he playing at?
Dominic at first had been staring at the phone, expecting it to ring every moment. But it hadn’t happened. So he had grabbed the maps and papers he got from Riz and had started to look through them. Nothing special, actually. Hospital stuff, his patient file. He knew he had been in a hospital right after Ryan had died. Then he stumbled over some files that caught his attention. Three documents about three different persons. No picture though. Three names. Tom Welling, Edward Norton and Benjamin McKenzie. Hold on a sec, he knew the last name! That was Ben! The guy who came for Billy! These people were all linked to each other. Dom finally understood. That was the gang! He read through Ben’s personal record and, man, what a past:
Grew up as a single kid in some small town, where everyone knew everyone. Mother passed away when he was about four years old so he lived with his father. Then an uncle died and left both 2 million dollars. After his father died, Ben aged 17 and still rich as hell, joined a gang, maybe out of boredom he started robbing shops. At the age of 19 he was a lasting member of a youth crime gang which was led by Tom Welling. Still was.
Great. And in such conditions Billy had to live. How the hell did he get into such trouble? Dom felt like walking in the dark, still everything seemed so unclear.
The doorbell rang so suddenly Dom nearly fell off the bed. Could it be that it was the unknown someone? Dom went to answer, but asked first: “Who is there?”
“The one who will help you to find Billy.”
Dom frantically and quickly opened up and looked into the eyes of the stranger.
“We have to go. Now. Grab your stuff.”, the man ordered a bit nervously.
“Yeah. Right. You know what, I don’t buy it.”
“Come one, we have no time! You simply have to believe me. I am your only chance to find Billy.”
Dom glanced at him suspiciously but obeyed and grabbed his rucksack where he also packed the files and papers.
“I barely know you! How can I be sure you’re one of the good ones? The other guy also pretended to be nice and he wasn’t. So why should I trust you?”
“Because I definitely am not nice.” With that he put out a gun and shot once at Dom.

“This is feckin’ impossible to hack!”, Billy shouted out, frustrated, after three hours. “Ah’m feckin’ stuck in here!”
Ben didn’t even look up from his paper. “Try again. We have lots of time.”
Billy stood up from his chair angrily and was pacing now through the little room.
“Is it too difficult for you? I thought it would be much too easy.”, said Ben calmly. “And sit down again. You’re making me nervous.”
“Ye should be! Cause ye all will never ever get inside this bank!” His right hand ran through his hair.
“I get it. You need a break. So, what now? You wanna eat or drink? Or even go for a walk?” Ben laughed. “No way, fag. I know your tricks too well. But we can have a little chat if you want to.”
Billy stopped and looked at him. “Who killed Heart? When Ah was inside the building Ah heard the gunshots. When Ah came running out Heart had already…” He paused and shut his eyes tightly. He tried not to cry. His sorrows and his grief had to stay inside. It would only make him appear weak.
“I did.”
Billy breathed in fast.
“I followed you that day when you wanted to see him. Tom already knew that something was going on. You can’t hide your feelings, Billy. No matter how cool and calm you may look.”
“Ah’ve tried to keep Heart out of this, but he wouldn’t listen to meh. He wanted to go. He wanted to help meh. He didn’t want meh do this on ma own.”, Billy added quietly.
“Exactly. So, when you went inside the hospital to talk to him, Heart was standing outside to look out for us. You knew that Tom had been beginning to be distrustful, huh?”
Billy didn’t move but just whispered “Yeah.”
“He saw me first, you have to know. He tried to play it all down, told me you wanted to kill that poor son of a bitch. I didn’t believe him. And when he recognized that the shooting began. He on purpose didn’t want to shoot me, his bullets missed me every time. But not mine. It took me only one bullet. And gone he was!”
Ben still didn’t take his eyes of his newspaper.
“You came too late. And I tell you what: I think you cared more for that little boy than for Heart. And that’s the reason you came too late. You didn’t want Heart to live any-”
Ben hadn’t been able to finish his sentence for Billy already was on him, punching him hard in stomach and face. Ben cried out, shouted, screamed, tried to defend himself, but it seemed useless. Then finally the door went open and two large guys dragged Billy off Ben. He touched his bruised lip and looked at Billy with a little nasty smile.
“Don’t ye ever dare saying again that Ah didn’t love Heart! Murderer!”, Billy screamed furiously, the two large men holding him tightly.
“Yeah. Right. I’m the murderer.” He paused to catch some breath again. “Seemed that I found your vulnerable spot. Put him on the chair!”, Ben then ordered. “Tie his feet to it! We don’t want him to have another outburst, do we?”
When everything was done Ben went over to Billy, leaned forward to his ear and whispered: “Now I know that I was right.” He backed away and then said aloud: “I think you really need a time limit to show us that you can do it if you want. 24 hours otherwise Eddie will kill him.”
The door fell heavily shut behind them and Billy was left alone. He breathed in deeply. He hated to admit it but Ben had been right after all. And that’s why it had taken him so long to let someone in his heart again.
“Dom. Where are you?”
