Dom stood outside in the corridor and didn’t know where to go. Should he dare to ask for a new room? No, it was about 3 o’clock in the morning, he didn’t want to bother the hotel personnel. He looked right, then left. His view fell on Maggie’s room. Why not? After all, they were both fooled by Josh! And he had to tell Maggie the truth about…well, about everything.
He knocked softly. Maggie opened, saw him and shut the door immediately.
“Maggie, please! Let me in!”
“No more visits today, I’m sorry. Recently I’ve been letting bad luck through that door.”, she shouted back.
“If you let me in, I’ll explain to you why Sawyer told you these lies about me.”
There was silence for a few seconds. Dom nearly gave up hope, took his suitcase in his hand again and started to trot towards the staircase. But Maggie did open the door one more time, this time a little bit wider. Dom turned around and walked quickly back.
“How do you know that?”, she asked surprised, but still angry and frustrated.
“Because he admitted it.”, Dom answered truthfully.
Maggie stepped aside and finally let Dom in.
“Thank you.”
After Maggie had closed the door she went over to Dom and sat with some distance at his side.
“I won’t bite you, alright? I’m sorry for yelling at you. But Sawyer was lying to me, too. I was confused, what did you expect?”
Maggie seemed very interested in her knees now, Dom knew she was still too confused to look Dom straight in the eyes.
“You wanted to explain something to me?”, Maggie said.
Dom breathed deeply.
“Yes. Well, I don’t know exactly why but Josh did this all to… well, to posses me. … I know it sounds stupid, but that’s what he said to me!”, added Dom quickly when he saw that unbelievable expression in her face.
“The thing is, when you left he actually tried to rape me…”
“What?”, Maggie cried out and now saw him directly in the eye, looking totally shocked.
“I was able to free myself, and left the room, but not before kicking him two times hard in his balls.”
Maggie smiled softly.
“Guess he deserved it, that bastard. But what did this all have to do with me? Why did he also fool me?”
“Well, what did he tell you?”, asked Dom back.
“He told me that you had fallen in love with me and that you thought about breaking up with…”
Maggie stopped for she started to realize.
“Billy. Yes, that was his aim. To part me from him.”, ended Dom Maggie’s sentence.
“I don’t understand it, Maggie. Josh seemed so nice when we first met. He absolutely wanted to share a room with me. We were like best buddies right from the start. I got a felling that my whole world is breaking apart. It’s like a mirror, you know. You look into it and see a perfect life, and then somebody comes and throws a stone. The mirror breaks and so does your life. How am I able to repair this? I want him back, Maggie! I’ve lost him! How can I live on without him, without his love?”
Maggie smiled suddenly, not vicious or mocking, but nice and friendly.
“You love him really, don’t you?”
Dom nodded sadly. Maggie slid nearer to Dom and embraced him softly. And Dom cried silently into her shoulder.
“Oh, what did I do? I guess I was too drunk, otherwise I would never have listened to Josh. I was depressed, Dom. I’m so sorry, you can’t imagine how sorry I am.”
“It’s not you to be sorry, Maggie. He fooled us both.”, said Dom under sobs.
And suddenly Maggie got this self-confident expression in her face. Her eyes were serious and glittered dangerously.
“I want to help, Dom. I want you to get your Billy back! I will put all my power into it, ok?”
She took Dom’s face into her hands and held it up to hers.
“Promise.”
Dom tried to smile, then took a deep breath.
There they sat, both leaned onto the other ones shoulder, talking.
“You know, I bought a ring for Billy. I’ve actually booked a flight for next Saturday to Scotland.”, Dom said.
“Really? You wanted to propose? But that’s wonderful, Dom! One reason more to try an get Billy back.”
Dom searched in his suitcase for the little box. He wanted to show Maggie the ring. Maybe her reaction would give him an idea about how Billy would have reacted. He looked under the shirts, the trousers and in the side bag. It wasn’t there.
“Oh shit!”, he cried out. “I forgot the ring in Josh’s room!”
Maggie stood up at once and went to the door.
“Hey, where’re you going?”, Dom asked her.
“I’ll get your ring back. Wait here!”

After Maggie left the room, Dom sat there still on the bed. The phone rang so suddenly that he jumped and nearly fell off the bed. He reached for his cell phone.
Billy calling – Options – Reject
Dom couldn’t believe it.
“Billy?”
“Yes, it’s me. I…”
“I’m so glad you’re calling! I’ve got so much to tell you!”
“Stop talking, Dominic! I’m just phoning to inform ye that I’m flying back to Scotland. There I’m gonna pack yer stuff and put it outside the door.”
“You’re throwing me out of our apartment?”
“Not our, but mine. As I told ye already. Ye don’t exist in my life anymore.”
And after that sentence Billy hung up.
