Author's Notes for story: This fic takes place mostly in Lothlorien. Some of the male elves are born with the ability to carry elflings. Yes, I know this has be done before :p Legolas is one of them,
and so are Elladan and Elrohir. These male elves are treated much differently then other males, or even females. They are the most rare and most protective, if sometimes over protected elves.
This means Elrond did not let Elladan and Elrohir did not go out orc hunting to avenge their mother. Of course he didn't discourage Arwen from doing so.I am just putting the ages they would be in
human terms, this is easier for me to do. Order of ages from olderst to youngest Haldir 30, Orophin 27, Elladan 23, Erohir 23, Arwen 21, Legolas 19, and Rumil 16. Yes, I made Rumil the
youngest instead of Legolas.

Chapter 6
"Don't you dare. You hear me Haldir. Do not lay one
finger on him. You will not punish him for hurting
me,” Legolas hisses and holds Rumil, as if he was his
elfling and he is defending him like a mother would
her own child.
"Don't you talk to me like that Legolas I am your.."
Haldir scowls at Legolas.
"Yes, you are my husband, and older then I. I do
respect you for that Haldir. Yes, it is the law that I
have to obey you, and not question your judgments when
it comes to things like this, but this time I am
standing my ground. I should not have snapped, but you
are not going to punish him for hurting me, and that
is final," Legolas replies, and stares straight on his
husband.
"He hurt you. I know he is confused and hurting now,
Legolas, but I would never let him get away with
anything like that. "Haldir remarks. He leans against
the wall, by the door and sighs.
"Yes, he did, and if anyone is going to administer any
kind of punishment, it is going to be me. I am the one
who was hurt, I think I should be the one who decides
such things." Legolas replies firmly, hoping Haldir
isn't going to be upset about it.
Haldir pinches the bridge of his nose between this
right thumb and forefinger and tries to think of what
to do next." I truly don’t want to punish him, but if
nobody does it, he will think he can get away with
hurting others. I already told you I would not do so.
He was acting so different then what I have ever seen
of him, when we found him earlier. He kept on rambling
about how he was a freak and a lot of horrible things.
"
"Yes, I know, that is what he called me all the time,
when you were not around," Legolas sighs and he
strokes his sleeping brother-in-law "He was just
repeating what he had been told about himself,"
Legolas remarks.
"I really don't know what to do here. He might hurt
you again and I can't have him hurting you or our
child. I can't send him away either, not now," Haldir
voices.
"Haldir, he is not going to hurt me. I know he is not.
I have the feeling, that we are going to be really
close, " Legolas says with reassurance.
"How can you be so sure?" Haldir asks. He doesn't know
how his little brother is going to act and can't see
how Legolas could do so.
"Because I always thought, since I met him, that he
and I should have been close. There was something I
sensed about him and now I know it's because we are
both maternal. In his mind he really wanted us to be
friends, but he didn't want to get too close and have
me find out he was maternal," Legolas replies.
"But why wouldn't he want that?" Haldir asks. He is
utterly confused about this whole situation.
"Think, husband mine. If I had found out I would
naturally tell you, and then you would go away. That
is what he thought." Legolas replies
"Yes, you are correct love, I should have thought of
that," Haldir replies.
"Try not to think to much dear, you are far to
confused about him at the moment. I will handle Rumil
for now," Legolas informs him.
"He is my brother,' states a bit harsher then he meant
to.
"And he is my brother-in-law, and fellow maternal
male. I think, I know more about how to deal with this
Haldir, please just let me handle this. Just be his
big brother and reassure him, that you are not going
to leave him," Legolas states without flinching at his
husbands harsh tone.
"I will allow you to handle things, as you said, but I
will not allow you to become overly stressed," Haldir
replies
Of course not, I am not going to endanger myself or
our child. I will have a lot of help too," Legolas
informs him.
Haldir sighs ones again and says "I am sure you will."
" I think we should get some sleep now, so come on in
and get into this bed. I think Rumil would appreciate
being held by two elves who love and care for him. We
have a lot of things to do tomorrow, so we best get to
sleep quickly," Legolas says yawning several times as
he does so.
"And just what do you intend to do tomorrow,?" Haldir
inquires, hoping his wife doesn't want to do much.
"First thing is to change this room," Legolas answers.
"I don't see anything wrong with this room. It's a
nice room," Haldir remarks, he looks around the room
and finds nothing wrong.
"Yes, for a paternal his age, not a maternal," Legolas
laughs out.
"I see," Haldir replies then carefully gets into bed.
Lying on Rumil's right side, so the elfling is between
him and Legolas 'I hope I can handle him as a
maternal'.
Haldir is about to fall asleep, when something comes
into his mind and he bolts straight up, in bed,
causing Legolas to wake up and Rumil to stir.
"Haldir, what is it?" Legolas whispers groggily, as he
tries to wake up completely.
"We thought he was paternal, Legolas," Haldir states.
"Yes, my love, I know this already. I don't see why
that would make you wake and bolt up so," Legolas
replies.
"But we let him have all those paternal male friends
of his in here," Haldir utters out, trying to think of
what his baby brother might have been doing.
Legolas laughs and says " Haldir, Rumil was pretending
to be paternal. He didn’t do anything sexual with any
of his friends. He would have been too scared that you
would find out. Besides he isn't interested in that
stuff quite yet. Now go back to sleep, please. I am
tired, and we have much to do tomorrow."
"That good, but he is not having them in this room
anymore," Haldir replies.
"Yes, love"
"And is quitting weapon classes."
"Of course, love"
"And he is not going to go out hunting."
"Haldir can we please talk about this with Rumil
tomorrow. I need sleep." Legolas growls out. He is
extremely exhausted.
"I am sorry, Legolas, of course," Haldir says, leans
over and kisses Legolas on the lips, then kisses Rumil
softly on the forehead and lays back down.
Haldir is about to fall asleep again, when the sound
of crying wakes him up again. "What is wrong?" he asks
without looking at his wife.
"What?" Legolas asks, annoyed that he has just been
woken up.
"I said what is wrong, why were you crying?" Haldir
asks
"I was not crying, Haldir. Go back to sleep," Legolas
sighs.
Haldir looks over to Legolas and sees that he indeed
was not crying, then checks Rumil and finds that he is
asleep as well, and not crying. He lays back down and
hears it again. "Must be imagining it" he mumbles out.
"No, Haldir, someone is crying," Legolas informs him.
"Who is and where at? They sound like they are in the
next room?" Haldir replies.
"It's 'Phin and I think he is," Legolas states.
"He said he was going to go home, because Elladan was
staying with his family and he needed to watch Oron,
Eldatur, and Eldehto, so he would not be in the other
room, love" Haldir replies
"Who is watching Erumáro?" Legolas inquires then says
" If Orophin is not in the other room then someone
else is."
"Aro is with Elladan," Haldir informs him, then says "
I will go and see what is going on." and gets up to
investigate.
+++
Haldir walks cautiously into the room and heads
towards the crying. He sees Orophin curled up on the
couch, rushes over and pulls him into an embrace.
"It's alright little brother."
"I didn't mean to wake you up. I thought you would be
awake, but when I came here you were already asleep,"
Orophin replies as he sobs.
"'Phin you should have come in and woke me up. You
shouldn't be lying here, by yourself crying," Haldir
sighs out. "Where are the little ones?" he asks.
"They are with Elladan. I brought them to him and told
him I needed to stay with my brothers tonight,"
Orophin states.
"And then you came in and just decided to be alone.
Really Orophin, what am I going to do with you?"
Haldir remarks.
" I don't know. I didn't want Rumil to wake up and
find me crying either," Orophin informs his brother.
Then snuggles closer.
"Rumil would rather wake up to you crying then you not
being there at all, now that I think about it. Lets
go, get into bed with him now," Haldir urges as he
pulls his brother up.
Orophin nods and they walk towards the room. Orophin
leans against Haldir as they do so. They enter the
room and find Legolas and Rumil fast asleep. Haldir
crawls in behind Legolas, and Orophin behind Rumil.
"He does have more of a maternal face, now that I look
at it," Orophin comments.
Haldir looks hard at Rumil's face and nods in
agreement," Yes, he is rather petite too. There is a
lot of things we didn't notice, brother. I don't
understand how so many elves were fooled."
"Our baby brother is quite an actor," Orophin states
sounding proud.
"Did you tell Elladan and the others about him?"
Haldir asks. Hoping Orophin had, because he didn't
want to explain it himself. Orophin was better with
such matters.
"No, I didn't want to upset them, not after the news,"
Orophin replies.
"News, what news?" Haldir asks. 'I didn't hear of any
news.'
"Elrohir is pregnant," Orophin informs his brother.
"WHAT??" Legolas yells out as he bolts up in bed
