Decisions

Heidi stared at Celeborn as she tried to sort out all he had just said. She glanced over at Denise and saw he friend was just as torn as she was. Everyone in the room was looking at them and waiting to know what they wanted. Feeling confined Heidi got up and walked to the window and stared out. Her mind was a jumble of pros and cons. But what really worried her ws what if her and Denise chose seperate things? She felt tears fall down her face at that thought. She had lost so many people she didn't know if she would survive losing Denise.

"I don't know about Denise but I would like to stay." she heard herself say quietly.

Denise looked up at her friend smiling slightly. She had been terrified that they would choose different things.

"I wish to stay as well." was all she said.

Heidi turned around and stared at her best friend, tears falling down her face. Smiling Denise stood and went to her friend. They embraced happy that they would have each other through out eternity. Lord Celeborn smiled knowing how this choice often tore friends and loved ones apart. He glanced at his son in law seeing the sadness he was remided of Elrond's own choice. His brother Elros had decided to remortaortal all those millenia ago.

"Haldir could you arrange for adequte rooms? Oh and a hand maiden for them as well." Celeborn asked his eldest son.

Haldir nodded and got up and left the room, to see to it immediatly.

Denise stood in her room laughing at it's sheer size. It was twice as big as her old apartment and it was all hers! Her room did connect to a bathing chamber thatnectnected to Heidi's room. There was a huge bed, many windows, an armoire, vanity, and a balcony. Heidi's chamber was a duplicate of hers except for the colors. Her room was done in maroon and gold, Heidi's was royal blue and silver. A seamstress had come and gone after measuring her for new clothes and shoes. Exhausted she sat down on the bed intent on sleeping. A light knock on her door made her jump.

"Yes? Come in." she called out to tired to move.

The door opened and there stood Legolas. He looked at her with concern in his eyes. "Are you alright?"

She nodded "Just tired and overwhelmed."

"I can imagine. This must be a shock to you both." Legolas said as he gently pushed her back till she laid down.

She sighed and lay on her side facing him. "You don't like Heidi alot do you?"

Legolas sat in a chair next to her bed. "I do not know. Is she alright? Mentaly I mean?"

Denise tried and failed to stifle a laugh. "Yes she is meantaly stable. You have to understand that one minute we were safe in our realm and the next these things are chasing us. So it was hard and she is kinda high strung."

Legolas smiled at the loyalty in her voice. "Kinda?"

This time Denise laughed out loud. "Her...Our lives haven't been easy Legolas. Even in our realm we were outcasts. We never quite fit in. Now here we are again not quite fitting in. It gets boring after awhile."

"That it would. Perhaps I should apologize to her."

"And she should apologize to you." Denise tried to stifle a yawn and failed miserably.

"Sleep. You need it." Legolas stood and covered her with a blanket. She smiled sleepily at him. She was so beautiful that he could not help himself. He leaned over and kissed her softly on her lips. "Sleep well princess." he turned and left the room. Content Denise fell into a dreamless sleep.

Heidi lay on her bed trying to sleep. But sleep eluded her, her mind refused to stop working! She rolled over on her side and sighed. A knock sounded on her door ulling her mind from the past.

"Enter." was all she could manage. She gasped and sat up when Lord Celeborn entered the room. "Milord!" a deep blush colored her face.

Celeborn smiled slightly as he entered the room, he noted the shadows under her eyes. He gestured for her to lay down again as he sat next to her. Heidi lay down and curled up on her side staring at this most powerful elf.

"How are you?" he asked concerned, he idly brushed a lock of her hair away from her eyes.

An electric shock ran through her at that simple touch. "F..Fine milord. Tired, overwhelmed, and saddened."

"Sad? And please call me Celeborn."

"Yes sad because I have been so rude to Legolas." Heidi sighed and yawned.

"He will get over it."

"Why are you sad Celeborn?" she could see it in his eyes.

"My wife went west. It is as we are divorced." sadness colored his voice.

"I am sorry. But west?" she reached out and took his hnd into hers.

"West to Valinor. Where elves originaly came from. Alot of elves are leaving Middle earth and returing to Valinor." he smiled slightly and caressed her hand slightly.

"Will you go west?" she was worried at what his awnser might be. She had just met him but she felt this connection to him.

"No. Never. You need to sleep." he kissed her cheek slightly as he stood. Heiightightend her grip on his hand preventing him from leaving.

"Stay? I..I can't sleep alone. I have bad dreams." she looked at the bedding ashamed at her weakness.

Celeborn smiled and lay on the bed next to her, he pulled her against him so they were spooning.

"Sleep milady I will guard your dreams." he reassured her

Heidi sighed content and she slid into a deep sleep.
