CH 6. Meeting King Thranduil

Legolas said, “Ada, it is with great pleasure to introduce, Lady Chrissy.”
King Thranduil said, “Hello fair maiden!” The woman lifted up her hand to shake his, to be polite and he gently kissed the hand softly.
Chrissy thought, “He looks like a spitting image to Legolas. Same handsome features but Legolas did not flaunt the rubies and diamonds, like his father.” Chrissy did not know how to act so she just let her instincts do the talking.
Chrissy blushed slightly, and curtsied to the king and said, “It’s nice to meet you, King Thranduil.”
King Thranduil smiled upon the woman and said, “I heard you’ve had quite a time here upon your arrival into Middle Earth?”
Chrissy said nervously, “Yes it has been an experience.”
Chrissy thought, “I am so nervous, What if I say something stupid? I don’t know if I am suppose to say something formal?”
Legolas sensed that she was nervous and quickly jumped in the conversation.
Legolas spoke, “Lets sit down and eat the wonderful food has been prepared. I am sure Lady Chrissy is famished from the long journey.”
Thranduil sat back down where he was sitting, which was at the head of the table. He sensed also that she was a bit nervous too.
Legolas had Lady Chrissy sit by him so she would feel more comfortable, he pushed out the chair and she sat down in the plush golden chair.
Chrissy thought, “These are fancy chairs, I almost feel like a princess.” She told Legolas, “Thank you, you didn’t have to do that for me.”
Legolas stated, “Its polite to pull a chair out for a lady.”
Chrissy just blushed a little and said politely, “Then I shall think of it as a kind gesture.”
Legolas smiled and sat down in his chair where he took the napkin out from under the silverware and place in his lap to eat the food. Chrissy took the napkin out as well and placed it on the lap of the blue gown and began to poke at the food.
Strangley Chrissy asked, “What kind of meat is this?”
Legolas answered, “Its deer meat, Mi Lady.
Chrissy sat there looking at the meat and tried a little piece of it as she thought, “This tastes pretty good.” Legolas glanced over to make sure the food was all right.
Legolas asked, “Is the food to your liking, Lady Chrissy?”
With a pleasing smile, Chrissy replied, “Its great, tastes a little strange to me, probably because I have never eaten deer meat before.”
Legolas laughed and said, “You’ve never eaten deer meat before?”
Chrissy replied, “No, I just stick to Beef and Chicken.”
Legolas gave Lady Chrissy a strange look and thought, “Beef and Chicken”? He did not bother to ask and just enjoyed the food and wine. He was famished from the journey and was glad to be back in Mirkwood.
After they were finished Legolas asked her, “Would you like to dance, Mi Lady?”
Chrissy thought for a moment and said, “Of Course I would love.”
Legolas took her small hand and lead her out onto the dance floor where others were dancing as well. Chrissy felt a little lightheaded from the wine, she did not drink much wine or alcohol back home. Legolas was a great dancer, unlike his partner who was stepping on his feet.
Chrissy uncomfortablely said, “I am sorry that I am not a very good dancer as you can see I have two left feet!”
He laughed, “Its alright, Lirimaer. (Lovely one) I will teach thee.”
Legolas did the leading and showed her how to follow with the sound of the music. Soon she had the hang of it. They danced for a while and didn’t realize the time slipped by. The night grew and his partner was getting sleepy.
Chrissy asked Legolas, “I am getting tired, and would you be kind enough to walk me back to the room?”
Legolas stated, “Of course, Mi Lady!”
As the were exiting the Dining Hall, they were stopped by King Thranduil, He asked them, “Are you retiring to your rooms?”
Legolas replied, “Yes, Ada, were are surely retiring for some much needed rest.”
The King spoke to Lady Chrissy, “Rest well, sweet maiden.” He reached down and kissed her hand, again.
Chrissy blushed and with a sweet smile said, “Thank you, King Thranduil and you sleep well too.”
The king took a final look at the two and walked back into the dining hall to speak to his advisor before heading to bed. Legolas and Chrissy walked back down the hallway and came upon the room.
Legolas opened up the door and said, “I believe this is good night.” She entered the room and looked around into the darkened room.
She wondered if he would stay, so she asked, “Legolas, would you mind staying with me for a little while? I am a bit uncomfortable.”
