Kill the Damsel in Distress??
Chapter 60
"Buggering Hell!" Dom exclaimed jumping up. Elijah then turned to me and handed me a twenty. I smiled and pocketed the cash.
"Wankers." Dom muttered and went downstairs to change his shirt.
Breakfast at my mom's house was always something special. Today was no different, when we got inside we were attacked by the smells of bacon, eggs, toast, and cinnamon buns. She'd been busy this morning; she loved cooking...and any chance for her to cook for guests she took. We sat at the table, my father taking the opportunity to play with Jordan on the floor. It was surprising how everyone seemed to fight for "Jordan Time". Dom was fascinated by our table, and I didn't blame him. Mom had sanded the top, and painted it with Chalkboard paint. Now it was just like a blackboard, and we were all having a ball drawing on the table.
"So what are you kids going to be doing today?" Mom asked us.
"Going to visit Heather, have lunch...maybe go to Southpoint if there's not a crowd."
"Southpoint?" Elijah asked.
"The mall has a wicked music store inside..." I smiled when his eyes lit up.
"Alright then, a trip to the mall would be alright."
"Yay!" I laughed. We ate quickly and piled into the silver Volvo. The drive to Chapel Hill was a short one. We pulled up to the parking lot and put a few coins in the meter. First stop was the Starbucks on Franklin Street.
I then showed them around the gardens, the only other time I'd been there had been with my ex...So, it was nice to get to share it with some one else. Dom I think was fascinated that such a beautiful garden was in the middle of a city campus. I also took them to the amphitheater just above Heather's old dorm.
It was a beautiful stone structure, with arches set right into the trees. "Wow!" Dom said. I sat down on the top row with Jordan in her stroller. I watched Elijah and Dom walk down to the dirt stage. He picked up a stick and swung at 'Lij, "Avast ye pirate scum!"
Elijah dodged the attack and grabbed another small branch. "Get back, or I'll gut ye, ye English sea scum!"
I laughed and watched them fight around the stage. I picked up the small stroller and took it down the stairs to watch them closer. Elijah, seeing this ran over and grabbed me and pulled me onto the stage with him. "Help Jordan!" I laughed to the sleeping girl in her stroller.
"Unhand her villian!" Dom cried. "She's a citizen of the crown and is under the Royal Navy's protection."
"Aye? Well then, I'll have to make sure she stays wif me then. I need the bonniest English lass as my Caribbean bride!"
"Never!" Dom swung, Elijah had dodged...but not before turning me. Dom's stick caught me.
"You daft sod!" I laughed, "You just killed your citizen of the crown!"
"Ah well..." Dom shrugged. "They'll be another damsel." He grinned, and laughed when I chased him around the dirt stage.
"Hold on!" I said stopping quickly. "My ass is ringing." I reached into my back pocket and pulled out my mobile.
"Wow...I still have the touch." Dom waggled his eyebrows.
I rolled my eyes and answered the phone. "Hello....oh hey...um....near Raleigh St....yeah...sure no problem....see ya then!" I closed the phone, "That was Heather, we can meet her now if we wish, her last class got canceled."
"Ha! I told you there'd be another damsel." Dom pointed his "sword" in the air and started running up the steps towards the street. "You guys coming or what?" He called.
Elijah and I laughed and collected Jordan before walking back up to catch up with Dom.
