Coffee Shop Romance

Chapter 59

After about an hour more of driving we finally arrived in Sanford. The Fowlers lived five minutes from my parents house. Elijah, Dom, and I immediately went downstairs to our rooms, we'd been on a plane for the better part of a night, and needed to get some rest. Elijah and I took the small room, it had two twin beds inside and a small closet for our clothes. Dom just wanted to crash on the couch, and he was already out cold before Elijah and I could get all of our stuff into our room. Jordan was upstairs with Linda, I wasn't totally okay with the idea...but I also knew that Mike was there, and that made me feel better.

"What are we doing tomorrow?" Elijah asked as we got ready for bed.

"Um...tomorrow we are driving up to Chapel Hill to visit Heather. Going to meet her for lunch, she's got a few more classes tomorrow. But I thought we'd drive up a little early so I can show you and Dom around. It's a beautiful campus, really nice to just walk around.

"Drive up in what?" Elijah laughed.

"Mike's going to take us over to my house tomorrow morning for breakfast, Mom's making this big elaborate breakfast for us. Then she said I could borrow her car, as long as I was careful." I kissed him good night and climbed into bed. I don't know about him, but I was almost asleep immediately.

*The Next Morning*

I felt a tickling on my nose, and brushed it away. When I felt the thwack on my head I sat up abruptly...ready to kill the person attached to that hand. It was Josh. "Dom paid me twenty bucks if I'd come down here and bother you awake. He's hungry and Elijah told him that you were eating at Ms. Janella's for breakfast."

"Is that so?" I shook my head, "Well tell them I'll be up in a moment, going to get dressed."

"Okay." He pulled the door closed and I could hear his heavy footfalls on the stairs followed by the slam of the door. I pulled out the t-shirt and jeans I'd decided to wear today, and was amazed that I'd managed to lose all the weight I'd put on with Jordan. Mom had once told me that when she got pregnant with me she was a size zero, and after she'd had me gotten back down to a two. Though I wasn't quite as small, I was pleased that my jeans from my college years still fit. I put on the olive shirt I'd bought in Wellington, it had a picture of a small bird on the front, and on the back it said "Honorary Kiwi".

I walked up the stairs and into the nightmare that was the Fowler house in the mornings. Josh and Zack were on the couch eating cereal, fighting over which show to watch. Linda was in the kitchen with Jordan, dangling one of her large necklace pendants in her face. Dom and Elijah were at the table with her. When I walked in Dom grinned and nudged Elijah. "Glad to see you finally awake Luv."

I smiled and picked up a cup to get some ice water. I sat next to Elijah. "So you were in on it dear?"

"Erm...Partially. I suggested that someone should go wake you...but it was Dom who decided to bribe the kid."

"Is that so?" I reached behind Elijah to where Dom was talking to Linda and poured the ice down the inside of his shirt.
