Dom's First Cracker Barrel

Chapter 58

We managed to get to a restaurant with out much drama. Not surprising we stopped at a Cracker Barrel, both Linda and her mom were obsessed with them. Because we had a larger party, we asked if they had a small room we could sit in. When Elijah had a quiet word with the woman at the desk we were told it could be done. While we waited we wandered around the shoppe, looking at all of the different items. Elijah picked up a sock monkey, and laughed. "I had one of these when I was little!"

"We should pick one up when we leave then for Jordie." He nodded his agreement.

"Fowler, party of 6." Came over the speaker, and we walked over to the desk to be shown to our table. We got a highchair for Jordan, and I set her between Elijah and myself, and Dom took the seat to my left. Mike put the boys at the other end of the table, and himself between them and Linda.

"What's good here?" Dom asked.

"Everything." I heard Linda say.

"Do they have bangers and eggs?" He asked and flashed me a cheeky grin.

"Have what?" Linda looked confused.

"Right there Dom." I pointed to the breakfast menu.

"Ah...cheers Luv."

I shook my head and smiled, Elijah was trying not to laugh. "Umm...do they serve breakfast all day here?"

"Yep." I said. "The cheesy hash browns are the best." I pointed to where they were.

"I need to hit the loo." Dom said suddenly, looking up from the menu. "Where is it?"

"You need to hit Lou?" Linda was looking to me in the hopes that I'd be able to translate.

"Over there,” I pointed.

"Ah, thanks again. Hey 'Lij man, if the bunny girl comes back, order me a cold bottle and some crisps."

Elijah laughed as he walked to the restroom. "He's a silly git."

"Don't you start too!" I hissed, laughing at him. "Jordie's going to be fluent in English before she's fluent in American!"

"What did Dom want to order?" Josh asked.

"Milk, a slice of apple pie, and some of the potato chips."

"Oh." Josh continued to scribble on the paper placemat. When Dom returned he took the other crayon and started to doodle with him. They drew out this elaborate scene, aliens running around, a few Jedi knights, Josh even drew a little hobbit in there. The waitress returned and took our order, and the rest of the meal seemed to progress with out another disturbance from Dom. We went back out into the shoppe to pay for the meal, and so Elijah could buy the sock monkey. Dom about died when he saw the large tower of huge lollipops. He bought one of each flavor, they were about the size of a golf ball. He even bought me a root beer flavoured one.

Jordan was happy as could be in her car seat, already sucking on the arm of her new monkey.
