Don't Tell Mum the Babysitter's Sleeping
Chapter 52
"Darling please relax?" Elijah said as I checked my watch for the umpteenth time. "I'm quite sure that Dom has everything under control. He's watched Sean's kids before."
"I know...but this is our little one this time." I smiled slightly and took a sip of wine. "You're right...let’s just enjoy the evening." We toasted to each other and began to eat our dinner. When we got out of the restaurant Elijah pulled out a single clove and lit it. I pulled it out of his mouth and took a long drag.
"What the hell are you doing?" He cried and took it back and tossed it into the street. "Those things are bad for you! Don't you want to be around to see Jordan grow up?
I smiled, "Don't you?"
He stopped suddenly and sighed. "Yes dear I do."
"Good." I pulled a bag of sunflower seeds out of my purse and tossed them to him. "Chew on these, it'll help." He smiled and popped a few into his mouth as we walked to his car. When my mobile rang I felt my heart leap into my throat. "What's wrong Dom?"
"Hey, sorry to call...nothings wrong really...except that she's fallen asleep in my arms and I'm sitting in the arm chair."
I laughed. "So why the phone call?"
"Well...I can't move, my legs have fallen asleep, and I need food."
"Awe....poor Dommie-bear." I smiled and shook my head at Elijah’s raised eyebrows. "Well I'm sure we'll be home in a few hours or so." Elijah grinned.
"Hours?" Dom squeaked.
"G'night Dom." I shut off the phone with a laugh. "Dom's been tackled by Jordie, and is being forced to go without food."
"Wow she learned fast." Elijah laughed. "Well what do you say to a milkshake and some fries?"
I smiled and stepped closer. "Actually I had something a little more personal in mind." I gave him an address to go to and he smiled. Ten minutes later I was sitting in a chair, having a small tattoo applied to my right shoulder as Elijah had the same done to his left. I'd been playing around with the idea for sometime and felt that it was time to get down in ink. I'd called a few people, and gotten the perfect design, the Elvish script for "Dreamer". And it hurt like hell. Elijah had had one done previously, but this was my first. We got it on opposite shoulders, so that when we walked hand in hand, our shoulders would be pressed together...hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder, tattoo to tattoo.
When we finally got home, we smiled to see Dom still trapped under a sleeping Jordan. I picked her up and carried her to her room while Elijah gently laid a quilt over Dom.
