Baby Baggins
Chapter 51
"Hold her head!" I smiled as Elijah tried to position the wriggling baby in his arms.
"She's so small." Elijah said in wonder. We'd had her home for a few weeks now, and we both were getting used to being parents I think. Elijah decided to take a year off from acting so that he could stay home with us. We'd decided to name her Jordan, after Elijah's middle name. It was a cute name for a girl, and I'd had a good friend in high school with that name. "Hi there little one." He whispered.
It was amazing to see her. The good thing about being night owls is that when Jordan wakes up in the middle of the night, we're already awake. I was given six months off of work, so it was okay for Elijah and me to stay up all night, feed the baby and changer her, and then nap all day with her. Babies sleep 20hrs a day, so we did too.
Now we were sitting in the living room, Elijah holding Jessica, while I had a video camera out. "Turn around I can't see her. After almost twenty years of acting don't you know not to turn your back to the audience?" I laughed when he turned his back and gave his hips a little shake. "Cute hon.” Jordan was beautiful, she had her daddy's nose and mouth. My hair colour, slightly darker than Elijah’s...but what I loved most about her was her eyes. Both Elijah and I have large eyes, but hers were beautiful. And the colour...it was if they were the blue of Elijah's mini cooper outside. She was falling asleep, and I caught her big yawn on camera. Dom was going to be over in a little while to watch her while Elijah and I went out to dinner. I'd tried to get her to take bottles, so that Dom could feed her if she was hungry...but it wasn't working.
"You just can't beat the real thing." Elijah had joked.
At the doorbell Elijah stood up and walked to let Dom in while I aimed the camera at them. "Ah! There's my little hobbit lass!" Dom said and took her our of Elijah’s arms. "A Baggins if there ever was one." He grinned at her as she played with his necklace.
"Why'd you say that Dom?" I asked.
"Because of her birthday of course!" Dom laughed.
I smiled. "Of course, I'd not thought of that before." Laughing I pulled out the copy of Fellowship of the Ring off the bookshelf and turned to a page in chapter one and read, "Then Thursday September 22nd, actually dawned. The sun got up, the clouds vanished, flags were unfurled, and the fun began."
Elijah swung Jordan in the air and laughed. "Well it's all settled then! You're an official Baggins."
"Yep, you're wrapped around her finger tighter than the Ring of Power." I teased. "Now Dom, you have our mobile numbers...and the doctors number is on the fridge."
"It's okay, you two have fun!" Dom took Jordan again and pushed us out the door. Once we were gone he lifted the gurgling baby to his eye level. "So what mischief can we get into?" He waggled his eyebrows at the smiling girl and headed off for the kitchen.
