Waiting In The Dream Of Love

Chapter 4 Waiting In The Dream Of Love

For another thousand years the search continued for Legolas. Lord Elrond had discovered Drimville’s palace in Mordor. Many men of large armies lost their lives in continuous attempts to save Princess Ilya. All attempts failed. Searches were formed to find Legolas, for Lord Elrond believe that if anyone could save her, it was he, but he was lost away in far lands.

Millions of miles away in the land of Harlindon Legolas sat in a tavern, still beautiful but with a permanent look of sadness on his face. Every night his dreams were plagued with her face. He spoke to only those whom he had to, keeping himself to himself, yet searching for any information as to her whereabouts. His friendly nature was lost in his sadness, every face he saw was the face of an enemy, he felt as if all were trying to keep his beloved Ilya from him.

By day he would hunt for her unsuccessfully and by night he would drown his sorrows in his failure. Over the years he had acquired a temper that others dare not invoke.

‘Get me another’ he ordered the bar tender

‘Sir I think you’ve had enough’ the bar tender told him

‘If needs be I shall find another tavern but if you wish to see my gold then get me another’ Legolas protested revealing his short temper.

The bar tender placed another drink in front of him

‘This one’s on me’ a voice came from behind him.

Legolas said nothing, not caring for the money he kept at all. A man shrouded in a black hood handed the bar tender his fee.

‘Tell me friend what troubles you’ the stranger asked

‘You call me friend as if you know me, I have no fiendsgolagolas replied

‘Maybe friend I am or am not but I know this Legolas of Mirkwood, your troubles are at the root of a female’

‘How do you know my name’ Legolas asked

‘I know everything’

‘Then pray tell me what I wish to know’ he said untrusting of the stranger’s words, taking another sip of his drink.

‘Very well. She is in Mordor’

‘What’ Legolas said startled and surprised

‘Keep your voice down’ he ordered ‘Mordor a land you’ve seen before now, but what you have not seen is the great Lord Drimville. He holds her captive’

‘Then to Mordor I shall go’

The stranger grabbed Legolas by the arm

‘Don’t be so hasty, hear me now. Go back to Rivendell and seek the help of the soldiers’

‘There isn’t time for that’

‘Time is all you have, no harm shall come to her but it shall to you if you rush in’

‘I’m listening’

‘Lord Elrond has known her whereabouts for hundreds of years’

‘What’ he raised his voice ‘Then why didn’t they come and find me’

‘Calm down. You have been missing Legolas, out of reach, as has she. Armies have fought for her freedom and all have failed. It is a miracle that I have found you. You are her last hope now I beg you return to Rivendell and seek the help of Lord Elrond’

‘Fine’

Legolas got up and walked to the door.

‘But remember this’ the man said ‘You are going upon love, but be careful that love doesn’t cloud you, for if it does, you and she shall pay dearly for it’

‘Who are you’ Legolas asked

‘I told you I am a friend’

Legolas asked no more questions and left the tavern. He got saddled his horse and set off for Rivendell.

Two weeks later Lord Elrond waited at the gates for Legolas to return. As he rode up on his horse neither said anything. Lord Elrond led him to his chamber.

‘It is good to see you Legolas. Sit’

Legolas stayed still

‘Why didn’t you come and find me’ he asked

‘We tried you where nowhere to be found’

‘You’ve sent armies to Mordor’

‘Yes and all have failed. We now put our faith in you. Instead of charging in with armies, it’s up to you to sneak in and find her’

‘Then let’s not waste anymore time’

Legolas headed for the

‘Do you still love her Legolas’ Lord Elrond asked

‘More every day that I live’ Legolas answered

‘Then you will succeed’.

Once again Legolas set off on his horse, this time heading for the dark land of Mordor.
