Chapter five

Erestor stood outside the closed door trying to make himself breathe as normally as possible, the words running through his mind ‘since the day I meet you’ he could not believe it. In all that time Lindir never told him. Never let on. Erestor started walking, he walked for the rest of the day. He walked through the gardens. He walked through the woods. He walked pass the training fields. He walked along the river bank it was the last that Glorfindel happened to find him. Matching his steps with the distraught elf’s he walked in silences, Erestor in his deep emotional agitation did not notice Glorfindel for many moments. Breaking the silences Glorfindel asked, “so do you love him?”

“I have never looked at him as anything other then a friend,” Erestor replied.

“And now how do you see him?” Glorfindel pushed.

“I do not know,” was the replied.

“I know some think I am..”

“Dimwitted”

“No”

“Vine”

“No”

“Self-absorbed, conceited, self-centered, arrogant, ” Erestor listed off

“No,” Glorfindel replied. “Is that really how elves see me? No do not answer that, I do not think I want to know.”

The two walked a little longer in silence before Glorfindel continued, “ Erestor, I have lived a long time, true I did die and have been gone from this world for a time, but some things never change and love is one of those things.” When Erestor remained quiet he continued. “I was in love once with an elf that could never love me back and no it was not your uncle. No, I seen your uncle as a brother which is why I see you as my nephew. No this elf was beauty personified, everything I ever wanted in a mate.”

“Did he return your feelings?” Erestor asked.

“I never told him, I was afraid too. I settled for being his friend, but when we walked in the gardens I would desire it was more. When I dined at his table I would fantasy that it was just the two for us and he only had eyes for me. I never told him, and the night of the attack I watched him die. I sworn then that I would protect his family at all cost, and that is just what I did, and what I am still doing.”

‘Oh you mean, you… mean.. Wow.” Erestor tried to find the right words but could not.

“Yes, wow.” Glorfindel answered.

“He more then likely thinks I rejected him.” Erestor stated.

“Why would you say that, he is the one that ran?” Glorfindel asked.

“I went to his rooms and asked how long he had loved me.” Erestor replied.

“What did he say?” Glorfindel asked.

“He said he had loved me since the first time he seen me.” Erestor replied

“Wow, what did you say?” Glorfindel asked.

“Nothing I just got up and left th…” Erestor did not get the chance to finish as Glorfindel let out a load “WHAT!”

Erestor was grabbed by the arms and pulled back to the house listening to Glorfindel mumble about, ‘silly elflings, and of all the stupid things, and they call be dimwitted.’ Erestor did not think he was meant to answer, as he was being pulled faster then he could walk. Glorfindel walked right up to Lindir’s door, knocked once and then opened the door and threw him in.

Erestor caught his balance before he fall but as he stood up he noticed Lindir looking from him to the door. Looking around the seen that Lindir had been packing, “Are you going somewhere?’” he asked.

“I thought it would be for the best, do you not agree?” Lindir replied as he turned around to continue packing he added, “I have requested for some time off and Lord Elrond agreed.”

“Please do not go.” Came a soft voice from behind him.

Turning around Lindir asked, “Why not?” as he sat down on the edge of his bed, with his hands in his lap as the tears started to fall.

Erestor bent down in front of him, taking his hands he began, “I can not guarantee you that I will ever love you the way you do me, but I can tell you that I care more for you then anyone in all of Arda.”

Lindir let himself kneel down in front of Erestor as he listened to him continue, “and I know that I can not live with out you in my life. I am not against see where this come lead.”

Holding back the tear that still wanted to fall Lindir replied, “I do not think…”

Erestor silenced him by catching his lips in a passionate kiss as he pulled him into his arms.
