Dying Swans twisted wings
Beauty not needed here
Lost my love, lost my life
In this garden of fear
I have seen many things
In a lifetime alone
Mother love is no more
Bring this savage back home

Wilderness house of pain
Makes no sense of it all
Close this mind dull this brain
Messiah before his fall
What you see is not real
Those who know will not tell
All is lost sold your soul
In this brave new world

A brave new world
In a brave new world
A brave new world
In a brave new world

Dragon Kings Dying Queens
Where is salvation now
Lost my life lost my dreams
Rip the bones from my flesh
Silent screams laughing here
Dying to tell you the truth
You are planned you are damned
In this brave new world

A brave new world
In a brave new world
A brave new world
In a brave new world

For Cheysuli! For helping me figure out what my point was again.

I'm putting a lot of my energy into my more serious work, a short story that's started to take off on a larger scale. Once the manuscript's finished, I plan on submitting it for appraisal with an editor. I'm still on the fics, but I also have a lot of school work coming up.

The two had talk for a few hours, listening to the stories to be told by the other. Filig was long asleep in his little box before either realized that it had gotten late. Legolas stood quietly, moving to the window to see if it was yet dark.

"You should go," the Elf said. "It's late."

Aragorn nodded, he stood, though he was far from tired. He frowned when he saw the marks on Legolas' back again. "You still haven't told me what those were for."

The Elf smiled, "I don't truly know. But I'm sure it doesn't matter much."

Aragorn nodded slowly, still unsure. He had told the Elf of Imladris, capturing the immortal's attention almost instantly. Legolas had asked questions until almost everything Aragorn knew about Rivendell was told. In return, Legolas had told almost everything he knew about Mirkwood.

"Perhaps you could show me those wonders you spoke of tomorrow," Aragorn suggested before he left. Legolas smiled and prepared himself for bed. Filig twittered for a few seconds before Legolas gently shushed him and lay down.

~~Ten years earlier~~

"Ada?"

"Shush, Legolas. Come on, I need you to do something for me."

The young Prince got up sleepily, following his father through the corridors to an area that Legolas vaguely remembered was a forge, or something similar to that. Legolas had just barely reached his adolescence, still a small child to his people.

"I want you to lay here, Legolas," Thranduil said gently, guiding his youngest son to a stone table. He had Legolas lay on his stomach and peeled the nightshirt away from the slender shoulders.

Legolas stifled a yawn with one hand, "Ada? What am I supposed to do?"

"Just relax, Legolas. Stay still."

Legolas was barely aware of a cloth being placed over his nose and mouth, the strange liquid in it sending him into a semi-conscious state. He was slightly aware of something being placed over his wrists, holding his down, and soft voices talking above him. There was a light sensation as what seemed like a piece of charcoal was brought over his back, drawing something. He felt his father's hand grip his as a sudden searing pain ran across the path the charcoal had just taken.

"Ada..." Legolas whimpered. Gasping as the whatever had caused the pain was lifted for a second.

"Shhh...It'll be over soon, just lie still."

The second time was too mfor for the young Elf, and the blnde bit his lip to hold back a cry. Again it was lifted for a few seconds before being replaced, going over the same area several times. Legolas finally cried out, his father only gripping his hand. It was after half an hour of this that Legolas lost consciousness.

Eh, More later. Tired now.
