Chapter 4
The morning in the fifth day of traveling you found three riders at even pace. Two riders rode on a brown horse, the other rode alone on a black horse.
‘Father, how’s he doing?’ Aron asked, riding right along his father’s side.
Thranduil looked to the figure in his arms. ‘He seems to be sleeping right now, It’s a long travel especially for him...Aron anytime, if for some reason I’m not with him you are.’ Aron nodded. Although Thranduil was his father he was also his king. Going against his father’s wishes would mean betrayal and treason. He would never chose to betray his father or his king.
They rode for a few more hours, getting nearer and closer to their destination, Rivendell. Until they arrived at the borders. By that time Legolas was already awake and singing a song that meant praise for their god Apollo.
‘I don’t want alot from Apollo
There is just one thing I need
I don’t care about all the mortals
Underneath his shining rays
I just want you for my home
More then you could ever know
Make my God please come home
All I want form Apollo...
Is him
That’s all I want from you’
Thranduil smiled at the song which was sung by his people, praising their sun god. As they approached he slowed down, gripping Legolas tightly. At once his sweet voice was no longer heard, and the trees protested his quietness by slightly shaking their branches. Legolas already a taught elf did not need to be told when to keep quiet.
“Halt!” A voice cut through the air as the figure of an elf landed right in front of them. The elf had jumped out of the tree as soon as the riders were close enough. His dark hair pulled to the back, and from the darker features Thranduil didn’t have trouble identify him as a Noldor elf. The elf held a bow with a arrow. ‘Reveal yourself and your reasons for coming.’
Thranduil pulled down his hood followed by Aron. ‘King of Mirkwood and my son crown price of Mirkwood, I would advise you to put your weapon down or use it, it’s your choice.’
The Noldor elf frowned as he lowered his weapon. Another elf quickly joined the first and his features clearly were identical to the first. “Excuse my brother my lord, your appearance was not...prdicted. Please follow me.” With no further conversation the riders followed the two. “Oh! Please excuse me. I forgot to introduce myself. my name is Elrohir and my brother Elladan.” Elrohir said as he gestures to the elf beside him.
“I did not ask for you names so it was not needed.” Thranduil said as he then ignored them for the rest of the way. But you can tell the twins were not happy with him. They arrived at the entrance to Rivendell haven for all who come.
“Welcome to Rivendell my lords.” Elrohir said as both elves stepped aside. Aron got off Shadow. Servants came to take the horses to the stable. Pulling the rein back Aron grabbed the elf’s wrist, “If anything happens to our horses the whole staff is held responsible. Punishment by Mirkwood's Law.” Once the servant was released she pulled the horses along with her at a small run.
Elrond stood where he can see all who entered. As the man from Gondor was lead away he was ready to go, but he was surprised as his sons entered, accompanied by three riders wearing Mirkwood’s colors. He realized then that Mirkwood had decided to join the council. Whether it was a good thing or a bad thing he would have to wait for the answers. For now he left to greet the stubborn king knowing the king had no liking to him or ‘his kind’.
Legolas was still amazed by Rivendell. Everything looked beautiful and peaceful. He stayed close to his father, even though he was entranced he was still frighten of anything new. He never wanted to go through something like ‘that’ again.
(flashback) (AN: like I told you before I don’t know elvish years...so Legolas looked around...10)
Thranduil walked beside Resmor as he was told everything that must be taught to his youngest son. Legolas had tagged along his thoughts were on how fun this was going to be but he was wrong. His mind screamed to him ‘This is Boring!’ He looked toward the two elves and quietly slipped away. He couldn’t have fun without Aron who was being trained right now so he was stuck alone. He walked farther and farther away from his father, his mind only took in the trees and the sweet fresh air that Zeus made possible. Then a rush of fear passed him. The trees were warning him, telling him to flee, go back to the protection of his father. +Run little one, back to your father+
Fear gripped him but the warnings gave his feet the strength to runback the way he came from. His ears picked up footsteps behind him...he ran faster. He hid behind a tree, catching his breath. In the name of Zeus what should I do was what he thought. He was so scared a feeling which went through his body as he tried to keep calm. For awhile he heard nothing. Sticking his head out he saw nothing...There’s no one. All of a sudden a hand grabbed him, covering his nose and mouth with a wet cloth. His struggles were futile as arms held him against a strong chest. With his heart beating faster his need for air increased. He tried to breath through the cloth but instead of fresh air he was met with a weird smell. And a need for sleep hit him like a ton of bricks. His thoughts grew frantic. No! I should stay awake. STAY AWAKE! Can’t...so sleepy... The darkness over came him.
(End of Flashback)
He was snapped out of his thoughts as a dark hair elf came to greet them. He was grateful he did because he didn’t want to remember it again.
“Welcome to Rivendell, Thranduil. May your stay be a pleasant one” Elrond awaited Thranduil’s insult and was not dissappoited.
“Elrond my stay shall be most unpleasant and it’s only because of the company.”
Elrond remained clam already knowing Thranduil’s attitude.
“I will need a closed off section for my stay. No one else around my rooms.”
Elrond knew a war was inevitable. A war was sure to come. And with men’s army falling he would need help from Thranduil’s kingdom yet again. Mirkwood was know for it’s cruel elves and stubborn king but they were also known for their great armies. Elrond nodded at Thranduil’s request. “Very well. Elladan”
One of the twins came forward. “Yes father?”
“Show them to their rooms.”
Elladan bowed slightly as he turned to leave. followed by Mirkwood’s arrivals.
As they followed the elf named Elladan, Aron looked to his brother and noticed he still had his hood on. ‘Legolas are you hot, if you are you should remove your hood.’
At last Legolas was relieved as he removed his hood. It was to hot to be wearing a hood. Though elves didn’t feel the elements of heat and cold Legolas had grown to feel both. Healers couldn’t explain it nor could the priests. The only explanation that they came up with is that it was the will of the gods.
Legolas smiled at his brother as he felt the cool winds pool around him.
They arrived to the rooms that were secluded from the others. “These are your rooms as you have reque-” Elladan stopped short as he locked eyes with a beautiful blue eyed elf. He had the most delict features. Compared to Arwen his beauty surpassed her by many miles. The blue eyes looked at him brimming with fear as he faced the floor. By then Elladan had a hint that this elf was a servant for the royal pains. The elf seemed to delicate to be a stuck up royal.
Thranduil looked at the Noldor with anger. He raised his hand which quickly connected with the dark elf’s face.
Elladan was knocked slightly to the side as he felt a burning sting on his cheek. Anger quickly replaced shock. “How dare you! You have no right.”
Thranduil didn’t flinch as Elladan screamed at him. “Starring is not allowed by law.”
Elladan’s anger grew as he heard Thranduil’s explanation. “This is not Mirkwood, your laws do not mean a thing here.” Elladan raised his sword he was to angry at the king to think about the consequence.
Thranduil never backed away from a fight and he was not going to start now. Raising his own sword he waved for Aron and Legolas to move away. Aron had a smirk of satisfaction as Legolas face showed worry. The first blow was from Elladan which was easily blocked from Thranduil. “Your but a mere worthless elfling, no noble blood whatsoever.” Elladan attacked with more anger, making him leave open spots in his defenses. Thranduil smirked at the elf’s foolishness. “And you leave yourself open for attack.” Thranduil kicked him in the ribs, raising his sword for his final hit as Elladan clutched his ribs pain evident on his face. “By law, attacking a royal is punishable by death!”
‘Ada! Enough,’ Legolas pleaded with his father. ‘He meant nothing by it...I’m pretty sure.’ Legolas wanted to leave he didn’t want to see the elf die, he didn’t want to be the cause of his death.
Thranduil looked toward the elf who was now standing, hand on his ribs. “Well, did you mean nothing by it..?” Thranduil asked as he lowered his sword
“What do you mean?!” Elladan was growing tired of Thranduil.
The king grew annoyed. “Your starring Noldor, did you mean anything by it?”
“And what exactly do you think I meant...no I did not mean anything by it.”
“Just remember Noldor, starring is not allowed.” Thranduil said as he walked into one of the rooms followed by the blue eyed elf.
Elladan turned to the crowned prince. “He wouldn’t have killed me would he?”
Aron laughed, “apparently you underestimate my father, Noldor.”
Elladan frowned. “He would have been arrested and put on trial facing death himself.”
“No, he wouldn’t have been arrested. Mirkwood’s Law are followed everywhere the royals are..”
“Your a liar.” Elladan believed the prince was a liar, what he said had to be a lie.
“You Noldor have to read the peace treaties from every land. Clearly written on them which was decided before the division of the alliances, Mirkwood’s Law applies to all lands to which the king of the time signed the treaty. As long as the royal family of Mirkwood is invited to the land. Your father knows this and I know he has warned you to be understanding.”
Elladan looked straight at him. “Then it means I should be punished right now for starring at you.”
“You really are ignorant aren’t you. Why don’t you go read the treaties, NOLDOR.” Aron left to his room as Elladan left to his father’s Library.
