Chapter Five

Legolas sat in his room, staring out the window. It had been days since his argument with Haldir in the woods when he told him never to come to his balcony again. Despite this, every night he lay awake hoping the March Warden would be there. Every night he was disappointed.

--I love you, Haldir,-- he would say into his pillow through his tears. --I will die of a broken heart without you.--

*~*~*~*~*

Haldir had started spending more and more time in the clearing, and less and less time in Caras Galadhon. The less he saw of Legolas, the better. He could not stand to be within sight of him, and considering the range of an Elf's eyesight, he found the only safe place was his secret haven in the wood.

He was on his way there late one morning when he happened to overhear a conversation in the woods. When he got close enough to realise it was Legolas and Gimli, he stopped to listen.

"His eyes, Gimli."

"His eyes?"

"Yes. They sparkle like mithril when he is happy." Legolas added, in a sad tone, "Although it has been a while since I have seen him happy."

Haldir's heart started to beat faster when he realised Legolas was talking about him.

"'Tis been awhile since you have seen him at all, happy or not."

"Yes, and I miss him more than he will ever know."

"Tell him," the Dwarf said simply.

"Are you mad?" Legolas' voice grew louder. "Are you out of your Dwarvish mind? I cannot ever tell him! We have hurt each other too much for there to ever be anything between us."

"You cannot be friends?"

"No, Gimli. He does not want my friendship. I offered it to him, and he would not accept it."

"That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard! Why would he do that?"

Before Legolas could answer, Haldir emerged from the trees.

"Because despite my age, I possess the wisdom of a mere Elfling," Haldir answered. "Or so I have been told."

"You have some nerve, spying on me." Legolas' tone was cold and his face was stone, but Haldir caught a spark in the ice-blue eyes that the Prince could not hide.

"Let me leave you two alone," Gimli said, and turned back toward Caras Galadhon, the Elves paying him no mind whatsoever as he lumbered down the path.

"You miss me." Haldir took a step closer to Legolas. "I heard it from your own lips. You cannot deny it."

"Of course I miss you! We spent practically every waking hour together for weeks, and now we never see each other." Legolas tried and failed to suppress his tears.

"Do you love me, Legolas? Tell me yes, and I will give you my life. Tell me no, and I will leave you alone forever."

"No."

"No? You speak of how you never see me happy when you are the cause of my unhappiness. You tell that *Dwarf* you miss me more than I will ever know, yet you refuse to be with me." Haldir was now face to face with Legolas, his arms gripping the archer's shoulders, lightly shaking him. "Why are you so cruel? I said I was sorry. What do you want from me?"

"Friendship. I want to be friends, nothing more," Legolas lied. Why was he doing this? Why couldn't he just give in?

"That would be nothing but torture. I cannot be near you without wanting to touch you." The Guardian loosened his grip on Legolas' shoulders. "I want to kiss you, to taste you, to slide my tongue up and down your body." As he said this, Haldir leaned in and took Legolas' earlobe in his teeth.

"No," Legolas breathed. "Stop."

"If you do not want me, then walk away." Haldir kissed down Legolas' neck, around to where his collarbones met, and back up the other side. The Prince did not move.

"Do not do this to mmm," Legolas' last word was muffled by Haldir's lips pressing against his own. He granted the Guardian's tongue entrance, but only briefly before pulling away. "Why are you so persistent?"

"I am merely following your advice." Haldir leaned in again to kiss Legolas, but Legolas turned his head to the side.

"My advice? I have advised you to *stop* trying to kiss me. I do not want it."

"'Nothing ventured, nothing gained.' That is what you told me on a morning that now seems like a millennium ago. Here I am venturing like mad, and the only thing I am gaining is a broken heart!" He threw his arms up in the air, exasperated.

Legolas could not help but laugh at Haldir's words and gestures. He sank to the forest floor, laughing, and all Haldir could do was stand there, dumbfounded.

"I am sorry, my lo-, Haldir, for laughing, but you- your arms flailing about- not very becoming an Elf!"

"Neither is toying with my emotions, but you do it." Haldir had caught the words that nearly slipped from the Prince's mouth, and was calling him on it. "You tell me you do not love me, and then you call me your love. Which is it?"

Legolas sat in silence, not even looking up to meet the Guardian's gaze. Haldir knelt down in front of him and cupped his hand around Legolas' chin. Legolas tried to turn his head away, but Haldir would not allow it. As a tear slid down his porcelain cheek, Haldir caught it with the tip of a finger from his other hand. Legolas reached up and grabbed Haldir's wrist.

"You are right, sweet Guardian. I have been unbearably cruel to you. Sit with me and we shall resolve this matter like it should have been resolved in the first place."

Haldir took his place next to Legolas on the ground, but he did not sit. He lay down and placed his head in the Prince's lap, and Legolas stroked his hair.

"So then, do you love me?"

Legolas sighed. "You know I do, Haldir."

"I want you to say it."

"I love you." Legolas bent down and placed a kiss on the Guardian's cheek. "I cannot help but love you! You refuse to have it any other way."

"We will spend tonight together, starting now." Haldir scarcely sounded like a millennia-old being, but like a love-sick adolescent with his first crush. He suddenly realised this, but he didn't care. He was where he wanted to be.

"'Tis barely midday!" Legolas laughed, tracing the outside of Haldir's ear with his index finger. "What will everyone think?"

"I care not what anyone may think. We have lost time to make up for!"

"Very well then. But first we need to talk. Nothing will be resolved unless we discuss what happened with Rumil and Orophin."

"I do not to to talk about that now, Legolas. I want to go back to my room and tear every stitch of clothing from that perfect body of yours." Haldir rose to meet Legolas' lips with his. This time, Legolas did not pull away.

*~*~*~*~*

On a talan near the northern border of Lothlorien, sat Rumil and Orophin, engaged in a kiss so deep it would have made Lady Galadriel herself blush. Rumil sat on his brother's lap, facing him, teasing his erection through the fabric of his leggings.

"Rumil, you are positively wicked!"

"And you, dear brother, are positively delicious," Rumil replied as he licked his way down Orophin's neck.

"There are places on my body that are far more delicious," Orophin touched the hand that was massaging the stiffness between his legs.

"Patience, love."

"'Tis hard to be patient when one is so, well, hard."

"That is what makes it fun. The anticipation!"

"Unless you are the one doing all the anticipating! Rumil, please do not make me beg!"

"Hmm, now *that* sounds like a good idea. Tell me what you want me to do to you, and then beg o doo do it." The corners of Rumil's mouth turned up in a wicked smile. "When I think you want it bad enough, I will grant you your release."

Rumil pulled Orophin's tunic and undershirt off, and threw them on the talan floor. He sat, waiting for his brother to tell him what to do next.

"I should fancy a nibble right here," he said, touching himself on the right nipple. "And here," touching the left.

"I do not believe you."

"Let me feel your tongue upon me, licking all the way down to here," Orophin traced a line down from the centre of his chest to the waistband of his leggings. "Then I want you to take me in your mouth and let me find my release between those sweet lips of yours."

Listening to Orophin was becoming too much for Rumil. He rose to his knees and yanked his brother's boots and leggings off, and then lay on his stomach, his head between Orophin's legs.

"Is this what you want?"

Rumil grasped Orophin's cock at its base, forming a tight ring with his fingers, and then plunged his mouth down, taking the whole length at once. With every downward stroke with his mouth, he made an upward stroke with his hand, and soon Orophin was panting and moaning, begging for Rumil to finish.

"Do. . .not. . .stop!" Orophin managed to gasp. He leaned back on his hands, his golden hair spilling down his back. "Now! Oh!" Elvish cries rang in the air as Orophin spent himself in Rumil's mouth, every last drop swallowed greedily.

"Positively delicious," Rumil repeated.
