WARNING: language, m/m relationships, ridiculous plotline. Ye be warned! Oh, and ANGST AHOY!
DISCLAIMER: I'm an impoverished student who's making no money from this, honest! This obviously never happened, alas, alack. If it did, and they were mine, they'd spend a lot more time in Scotland. In my bed. Naked. Ahem. ON WITH THE FIC!!

A/N: For the purposes of this fic, Alex is from Manchester, and is not famous, although he is in a band. :D Ok, so he’s kinda an OMC, but physically, he’s exactly right for the character. Same singing voice, same looks, but with a Mancunian accent!

Chapter 5: In Which There Are Pancakes and Singing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THE NEXT MORNING
Alex stretched, groaning, as the early morning sunlight hit him straight in the face through the window. ‘Must’ve forgotten to shut the blinds last night.’ He thought to himself, before remembering that his room didn’t face east. Gradually his sleep-dulled mind remembered whose bedroom he was in, and what exactly he was doing there. Alex smiled as memories of the previous night came flooding back, and looked over to the still-sleeping occupant of the bed. Orli was lying on his front, face turned towards Alex, snuggling into the pillow. His face looked so much younger in sleep, and yet somehow more melancholy, the smile that normally graced his features when awake gone. Orli’s hair was tousled adorably by sleep – and the previous night’s activities – and the sun was glinting off the chocolate brown curls, creating a halo of golden light around the older man’s head. Orli lay there like a feast to be devoured, and Alex was sorely tempted to just start licking him, to see if Orli tasted as sweet as he looked.
Alex reached out a hand, stroking down the side of Orli’s face, and the older man smiled in his sleep, leaning into the caress. Alex trailed his hand down the side of the brunette’s neck, following the curve of his spine down to the little hollow at the small of his back, where the sheets obstructed the blonde’s vision of anything more. Alex followed the path of his hand with his mouth, kissing and licking his way down Orli’s spine, carefully tracing the scars he found there, shiny white skin marring the dark caramel of his back. Alex made a mental note to ask Orli about them later, then continued his lazy exploration.
“Having fun, pet?” A sleepy voice mumbled from above him. “You should know it’s bad luck to wake an elf when he’s sleeping.” (1) Alex looked up to see chocolate pools blinking hazily at him. Any further comment was prevented by a jaw-cracking yawn, and Orli turned over, lifting his arms above his head and stretching his whole body, cat-like.
“Ah, but I know how to counter the bad luck. The elf who did the waking,” Alex replied, peppering his words with kisses up Orlando’s belly and towards his mouth. “Makes breakfast for the elf who did the sleeping.” Orli smiled at this, and stretched again, his tongue curling in his mouth, hands clenching then relaxing. “The elf who was sleeping eats the breakfast while attention is lavished on him by the elf who did the waking.” By this point, Alex had reached the older man’s mouth, and they enjoyed a leisurely kiss, before Alex slid off the bed, pulling on his jeans as he went. He padded through to the kitchen, and started hunting around for ingredients.
“Cereal’s in the cupboard, love” Alex heard shouted through from the bedroom. “I’m just gonna have a shower, ok?” Orli popped his head round the door of the kitchen, and smiled at Alex, looking very fuckable, with his jeans hanging low on his pale hips. Alex turned, and grinned as he caught Orli looking at him.
“I’m not making cereal, babes, I’m makin’ waffles!” (2) Alex’s mouth split open in a cheesy grin. “You got any strawberries?” He started poking through the fridge, looking for fruit. Orli walked up behind him, placing his arms round the blonde man’s waist and peering over his shoulder, looking into the fridge.
“Don’t think so…nope. You don’t need to go to any bother, really – you’re my guest, I should be making breakfast for you.” Alex made a scornful noise at this, as if to suggest that him not making breakfast was a ridiculous idea. “Right, I stink and I probably have morning breath, so I’m going to grab a shower. Care to join me?” Orli smiled wickedly at Alex, and the heat poolin his his chocolate orbs caused Alex to bite back a moan that threatened to escape. Orli kissed Alex gently on the cheek, before sauntering away, a sway in his hips that the blonde man was certain was deliberate. Alex shook his head swiftly to clear it of several ideas that occurred at the sight of that ass, before returning to the fridge in a search for ingredients. Soon, he heard the sound of a shower running, and Orli singing very loudly, and very off-key.
“…So never judge a book by it's cover, or who you gonna love by your lover,
Love put me wise to her love in disguise, she had the body of a Venus, Lord imagine my surprise…” (3) Alex snorted with laughter as he recognised the song that Orlando was singing, before shaking his head and returning to making pancakes.
“Dude looks like a lady!!! Dude looks like a lady!!! Dude looks like a lady!!! Dude looks like a lady!!! Wooooo!” Alex heard the shower shut off, and a few minutes later, Orli reappeared, trousers slung loosely on his hips, rubbing his still-damp hair with a towel. “Mmmmmmmm, smells great, babes.” Orlando stole some of the batter from the bowl beside the stove, before sitting down at the breakfast bar. He watched as Alex flipped the last of the pancakes, before adding them to the pile on the table, and pouring syrup over them. Alex sat down opposite Orli, and they both dove into the pile, ravenous.
“So, what was all that about?” Alex mumbled through a mouthful of cream, syrup, and pancake. “The singing. Of the Aerosmith song. Not that it wasn’t enjoyable, and highly amusing, of course…” Orlando stuck his syrup-covered tongue out at Alex.
“Are you saying I don’t have a good voice?” Orlando looked mock-threateningly at Alex, who whistled and looked up at the ceiling innocently, before leaning over and giving him a syrupy kiss. Orli eagerly complied, before explaining. “Mmmmmmmm…Nah, it just gets me in the mood for becoming Leggy. Cuz he does. Much as it would kill me to admit it to those filthy humans, he is a bit of a woman, isn’t he?” Orlando laughed as he finished his pancakes, then sighed and got up from the table, before coming round to stand next to Alex. “Speaking of which, I hate to eat and run, love, but I’ve got rehearsals for a fight scene tomorrow.” Alex’s face fell, and he started to say that he’d gather his stuff and go, when Orli interrupted him.
“Could we meet up later? I don’t want to rush you or anything, but I really want to see you as much as possible while I have the chance. And, of course, see as much of you as possible…” He winked at Alex, before leaning towards him for a leisurely - and syrupy – kiss. Alex slid his arms up Orli’s, tangling one hand in the back of the brunette’s hair, the other sliding over his shoulder and down to the small of his back, pulling Orli closer. Orli moaned into the kiss, before regretfully pulling away, going into his bedroom to put some more clothes on. As he walked out the door, he shouted that Alex was welcome to have a shower, and he’d call him later.
TWO WEEKS LATER
Alex sighed as he stretched on his towel, watching the hobbits run down the beach towards the sea. Young and fit though he was, he’d much rather sit on the beach with Vig and Sean than go racing off through the waves with a big bit of wood. Vig was still moaning about the massive black eye that his one fateful attempt at surfing had given him, and Alex didn’t blame him – they’d had to film a lot of the scenes in Moria showing only one side of Viggo’s face to cover up the fact that the whole side of his face was one big bruise.
Alex had brought his guitar with him, and was quietly strumming to himself, words circling round in his head. He made a mental note to phone Aaron at some point about the band getting some studio recording time, try and get some execs interested in their music. He tuned back in to hear Viggo and Sean grumbling good-humouredly about the inexhaustible energy of the hobbits and Orli when they were together, and Alex smiled as he thought of the many ways in which he’d made use of that boundless energy over the last couple of weeks.
Orli was incredibly inventive in bed, a fact which the younger man was quickly taking advantage of. He enjoyed playing games in the bedroom, and Orli was always thinking of ways to drive him insane with need before letting him come. Alex was surprised, not at the way Orli drove him crazy – you just needed to look at the man to see that was possible – but at the depth of feeling which Orlando had created in him. It was obvious to see from the way Alex’s face softened when he looked at Orli, to the way his voice quietened when he greeted the older man with a soft ‘hey’ that the blonde was falling for him, and falling for him hard.
Alex was scared. He’d never felt like this about anyone before – he was only nineteen, for Christ’s sake! He was terrified that Orli didn’t feel the same way about him, that he was just using him for an easy fuck. He’d only know the brunette for just over two weeks, and already it almost pained him to be apart from Orlando. The other man seemed to care for him a great deal, but how could he know if it was real? Alex became lost in his thoughts, and his guitar playing started to reflect his mood, becoming more uncertain and melancholy. Words rose unbidden to his mind, and he quietly began to sing under his breath, not noticing that Viggo and Sean were listening.
“Well I'm Mr Lonely, I'm Mr caught-up in between
Well you, my only sunshine
My good and bad times, it isn't fair
Yeah I'm in love, and I'm at war
Inside my head I'm not quite sure
I'm not quite sure yeah
Is this the one
That I've been waiting for all my life
Could this be the one
Well I've been looking for all my life
Could this be the one
Black smoke, pours out your lips
As I breathe it in, I breathe you in
My beautiful boy, my beautiful sin
Who's gonna win your heart I gotta know
Yeah I need to know
Well I, I'm Mr Lonely, I'm Mr caught-up in between...” (4)
Viggo and Sean looked meaningfully at each other, their looks conveying the same thought – why was Alex suddenly getting all melancholy? They listened to Alex, who played on, oblivious to his audience. Viggo had noticed Alex falling for Orli, but he hadn’t thought it was particularly serious. From the lyrics that were pouring from his mouth, however, it seemed his feelings ran deeper than anybody – especially Orlando – realised.
“Is this the one
That I've been waiting for all my life
Could this be the one
Well I've been looking for all my life
Could this be the one?”
As far as Viggo knew, Orlando was just having fun, and still flirted with everyone on set, male and female. Since Alex was no longer needed as an extra he missed most of the flirting, not being on set, but whenever he joined the rest of the fellowship socially, his eyes followed Orli round the room, lighting up when Orli’s eyes met his. Viggo made a note to have a talk with Orli later, before Alex finished his song and seemed to come out of his daze.
Alex came back to himself, realising that Sean and Viggo had been listening to his song. He blushed as he realised, knowing the words that had come from nowhere had given away a lot more of himself than he had realised, or wanted anyone to know. He thought of pleading with them to stay quiet about it, but he trusted the older men enough to believe in their discretion, and the two men turned back to their conversation, Alex listening with half an ear and watching his lover wade out of the ocean and make his way back to the towels.
(1) Guess. :P Yep, I’ve bastardised Pirates of the Caribbean. Jack and Gibbs in Tortuga, to be more specific. Couldn’t resist, mate! XD
(2) If you’ve seen Shrek, you’ll know how Alex says this bit. Near the beginning, Donkey’s getting all excited about staying in Shrek’s house. “We can stay up all night, swappin’ manly stories, and in the mornin’? Ah’m makin’ WAAFFLES!”
(3) The song is, of course, ‘Dude looks like a lady’ by Aerosmith. Every time I hear it, I think of Legolas, after seeing an icon somewhere with that caption. *Sigh* Aerosmith rock, btw. :P
(4) ‘The One’ by, yep, The Calling. I will put in credits and everything throughout this fic, but if you can’t be arsed looking at the footnotes, just assume everything Alex sings is by the Calling, with one notable exception to come…. *ducks as readers throw things at her for teasing*
