Baby-sitting Woes #5

Title: The Adventures of Arwen Undomiel: Baby-sitting Woes (5/7)
Category: Lord of the Rings (movie)
Rating: PG-13
Warning: spanking
Co-written by tiaoconnell and carelesscat
Disclaimner: We don't own Tolkien's world (or anything in it) even
though we wish we did. We just play there.
Author's Note: Note one: Undomiel is Elvish for Evenstar
Note two: Again, playing with ages. Twins are 16, Arwen is 4 and
Celebrian has just very recently passed.

Where we last left the Elflings: Arwen had just gotten spanked by
Elladan, and was on her way to make up with Elrohir, who had been
sent to his room by Glorfindel.

------------------------

Arwen bounded down the hall and into his room, and bounced right onto
his bed, hugging him tight. Chuckling softly, Elrohir hugged her and
kissed the top of her head. "You feel better now?" she asked. "I'm
sorry I was bad, I am good now, Ella says," she added a nodded to
affirm her statements.

Nodding, Elrohir gave a soft smile. "Yes, I do." Bouncing yet again,
Arwen kissed his cheek and cuddled tight against him. "Do you still
like me? Please? I like you lots and lots!" "Arwen, what a foolish
question," he scolded. "Of course I like you. No, I *love* you."
Beaming brightly, Arwen showered him with hugs and kisses.

After several minutes of silent snuggles, Arwen begankingking
again. "Roh--what if ada not come back, like nana?" she
whispered. "Don't say that, ada will come back," he told her
firmly. "Promise?" Her little face looked so serious. "And are you
gonna tell ada I was bad?" Shaking his head no, he picke dup his
sister and went to find her a snack.

---------------------------

Thankfully, the afternoon passed without incident. Unfortunately,
when Elrond returned home the next afternoon, he was not to be
greeted by his family. Instead, he found all three of his childre,
barebottomed and in corner, the youngest sobbing her wee heart out,
while Glorfindel looked utterly enraged as he paced across his Lord's
study.

Sighing heavily, Elrond looked at the Vanya. "Glorfindel, what is
going on?" Lord Glorfindel looked up. "Lord Elrond! We were not
expecting you until the morrow! While you have been absent, your
children have seen fit to become holy terrors! Your daughter runs
naked, Elrohir has tantrums in the hallway which scare the maids,
Elladan smarts off when my garments are stained by your naked running
daughter, and that was just YESTERDAY!"

Little Arwen sobbed heartbrokenly in the corner; she was afraid to
leave and get into more trouble, but she desperately wanted to see
Elrond. The twins' heads were hung in shame, and they didn't dare to
look at their ada, not wanting to see how disappointed in them he
must look.

The tired Elflord shook his head and said, "I take it you've dealt
with the situation?" "Not the situations of today, no! I scolded the
twins, and Elladan spanked Arwen. But today! Today Arwen took yet
ANOTHER chocolate cake, which she proceeded to spill in the Hall of
Fire, where she saw fit to build forts with your furniture and fine
linens while her brothers slept the day away!" Glorfindel began to
rant.

Rubbing his temples, feeling a terrific headache coming on, Elrond
continued to listen to the rants.

"THEN she decided she felt the need to be an artist, and took
parchments from THIS office WITHOUT asking. Did her brothers bother
to check in on her as was their task? NO! So she has NOW drawn on the
back of several important maps, which are now RUINED! she also saw
fit yesterday to color in the books in the library! She has ruined
two dresses just today, but attempting to BAKE in the kitchen,
sending your cook into hysterics! AND YOUR SONS HAVE BEEN PLAYING
INSTEAD OF WATCHING HER!" That said, Glorfindel sat down again in a
huff.

Elrond was furious...he was hoping he could relax from his long trip
coming home to Imladris. Instead, in his absence, his children had
decided to become terrors.

Finally Elladan could take it to longer and crossed the room to his
hysterical little sister and swept her up in his arms. "And Lord
Glorfindel has been yelling and pacing for the phourhour, leaving
Arwen there the whole time, terrifying her with his anger," he
announced, cradling the toddler. It was one thing to be angry at he
and Elrohir, but it was another to terrify their baby sister. Yes,
she had been naughty, but there was no call to be frightening.

Elrond looked at Glorfindel, "Is this true?" His voice was growing
harder and firmer with each word. Glorfindel looked startled. "Well,
yes, but I felt it was neccessary. She has been out of control.... no
one takes a firm hand with her. She is not incapable of standing you
know know." He crossed his arms over his chest, still angry.

"I understand." he pinched the bridge of his nose and said, "Aye, I
wish Celebrian was here. She'd be able to handle this." "Make nana
come HOME!" Arwen demanded, only to be rocked more by Elladan, who
had somehow managed to right his leggings unnoticed as he comforted
arwen. Elrohir was just plain utterly mortified and wanted to
ma
make things any worse for himself, so he stayed where he had been
ordered to be.

"Ada?" Roh suddenly spoke up tentatively. "Yes, Elrohir?" Elrond
prayed that no excuses or lies or filthy words would come out of his
son's mouth. "Arwen has been asking about you constantly. We have all
missed you of course. Will you hold her? She has missed you terribly,
and cried much for you." The little girl was finally beginning to
calm down, sucking her thumb and looknearnearly half asleep in the
other twin's arms.

Elrond had missed his child little very much also, but especially
Arwen. This was the first time father and daughter had been parted
without Celebrian's presence, and he knew it had to have been
distressing for her. He went over and opened his arms for Arwen.

Arwen eagerly accepted her ada's warm arms, burying herself in
them. "No leaving me never 'gen. Too much yelling. Was bad, Ella
spanked me. Then I good. Glorfy yell too too much, I was really
scared ada, and cold too. No like the corner, I lonely, wanted my
bear, he said no!"

Elrond could only rock her in his arms; he was unsure how to handle
the anger he felt at each of his children, particularly Arwen. She
knew much better then to do those things; Celebrian and he had never
allowed her to do them in the past.

Arwen looked up at him, with sad little eyes. "Ada... Glorfy said he
was gonna spank us," she whispered. "Is he really? And are you real
mad at us? We didn't mean it!" She tucked her little face against his
neck, just ever so happy to have Elrond home, that she didnt even
care... well, not very much anyways.... if she got spanked yet again.

Kissing her head again, he mulled the thought over in his mind for a
moment. "No, Glorfindel isn't going to spank you...but he might have
to deal with your brothers." She looked up. "Glorfy said I bad! I
good? No spank?" she looked adorably confused.

The twins groaned at the thought of the irate Glorfindel spanking
them. They were unsure which would be worse: a spanking from him or
from Elrond.

"No, you are good, Arwen. You were already spanked...I believe that
is enough."

Glorfindel stood yet again. "After what she did today? You are
letting her off? No wonder the child is wild!" he exclaimed. arwen
hung her head, feeling horribly. Elrond looked at Glorfindel, "I know
that she ruined your robes...and THEY will be cleaned." "What about
the parchments? And all the other things she has done? This is
unbelievable!" Glorfindel began pacing again.

Arwen could feel Glorfindel's anger, and though it frightened her,
she was unsure what to do. Finally, she squirmed out of her father's
safe arms, and toddled her still bare bottomed self back to the
corner, her head hanging sadly. "arwen bad" she whispered. "very very
bad" she gave a hiccup

That was it. Elrond had had enough. It was time to put an end to this
nonsense!! "Glorfindel! I'll deal with Arwen," he snapped. He watched
as the the twins turned to face glorfindel, furious, their arms
across their chest. sure, arwen was a pain in teh backside most of
the time, but she was small, and it was mostly their fault she had
been into so much. It amazed him how they could be protective of her
and yet not bother to watch her all in the same day.

Glorfindel opened his mouth to protest, when arwen turned and dived
into elladan's arms, catching him by surprise. "no more yells, i
sorry, i sorry, nobody hate me, please? i not mean toooo!"

Elladan held his sister and looked at Elrond and Glorfy, "Please, if
you're going to punish Arwen...then do it...but don't just stand
there and talk about it....geez...and I thought we were strange." he
rolled his eyes and saw the look on Glorfy's face.

"Fine. You are lord, they are your children, I will leave them to
you." Glorfindel stormed from the room, staring hard at the twins as
he passed them. Arwen whimpered, and looked at Elrond, then Elladan,
then back to Arwen. "I trouble?"

"Glorfindel is right...I shouldn't let you get away with destroying
the parchments and books. Boys take your sister to her room and then
both of you stay in your rooms.," Elrond said decisivly.

The twins nodded. "Yes ada" Elrohir and Elladan took Arwen to her
room,r ighting her clothing along the way, tucking her into her
bed. "Sleep little one, ada needs to think, he is tired." Arwen
merely nodded, feeling exhausted. it had been a busy day!" she curled
up in her bed and slipped into reverie, as the twins headed to their
rooms.

As the twins took Arwen to her room, Elrond went to find Glorfindel.
His friend was in the library, trying to sort through the books that
Arwen had destroyed, and did not noticed the Lord in the doorway.

Glorfindel's thoughts were running ramped, and they reached Elrond,
though it was not Glorfindel's intention. They ranged him his lvoe
for his lord's children, his anger at their actions, but also anger
at himself, for frightening arwen and upsetting the twins so.
Punishment should be out of love and should teach; not out of anger
to cause fear. "They'll never want me to be near them again. And I
had so wanted to help Elrond, my friend, in his time of need," were
the last of his thoughts.

Elrond felt for Glorfindel and he said, "I'm sorry." Glorfindel
looked up. "For what? You have done nothing my friend. Tis I and the
elflings, who have erred this day; in different ways of course. What
a wonderful thing to return home to, I apologise"

Feeling much less then a powerful lord of lovely Imladris, Elrond
sank into a chair with a great sigh and put his head in his hands. "I
don't know if I can do this." "Do what my friend?" Glorfindel sat in
a chair, and passed Elrond a drink of tea. Elrond took the tea and nk ink it, "Discipline. When Celebrian was still here she was the one
that disciplined the children...now that she isn't here...I don't
know if I can do this."

Glorfindel nodded and thought on that for a moment. "It was rare that
Celebrian spanked. But then, she didn't have too. That was just her
way. Your children love you Elrond, they are all adjusting in their
own way. And the twins have always been troublemakers, though they
have kind souls. Did you see Elladan with Arwen? That would not have
happened if Celebrian were still here. They want to be grown up, but
they are not even to their majority yet."

"I know...I'm just afraid that if I punish Arwen...I might be too
hard."

"In what way? Force, or something different?"

"Well, being that she is only 4 yrs old...I don't want to spank her
too hard...but I want to make sure she understands that what she did
was very wrong." It was a hard position to be in... very hard.

Glorfindel felt for his friend and squeezed his shoulder. "I think in
her own way that she understands that now. I think she was also
acting out today because she was left alone, and was lonely, not only
for you, but just for someone to pay attention to her."

Elrond nodded, sitting up slightly straighter now. "I shouldn't have
left. Even though I have wanted to see Galadriel and Celeborn." "Nay,
you were right to leave. Thougxt txt time, perhaps you should bring
Arwen. She might benefit from her daernana's council, and also the
time alone with you."

"I'll remember that next time," Elrond conceeded. "I wish I could
help more Elrond. As you have seen today, my patience with your
children has run out for today. Arwen may like me, your sons as well,
but I can never be what they will truly need. THey need you Elrond,
to be strong. You must do what it takes to grieve and grieve quickly.
Their healing depends entirely on you. I know this is a heavy burden,
and I will help where I can, I give my word," Glorfindel spoke.

"Well, I had best continue cleaning here. And I am sure the children
are waiting for you" "Aye." then Elrond walked out toward Elladan's
room.

Elladan was sitting on his best, trying to look through a book and
not be nervous about when his ada would come and how much trouble he
would be in. Elrond knocked on the door. "Come," he called, setting
the book on the stand beside the bed. He looked towards the door as
it opened.

Elrond walked in and looked at his son. "Ada.... I am sorry," the
young elf said contritely. "I know...but I thought I could trust both
you and your brother to make sure nothing happens while I'm gone," he
scolded his son.

"We forgot that she really seriosuly couldn't handle playing by
herself, without being watched every second. We didn't realize what a
job it was to watch her. We.... we failed. And I am so sorry Ada, if
anyone has been truly hurt, it's Arwen. She is still learning, and
though she probably knew that stuff was naughty, she wouldnt have
done it, had we watched her better. We just aren't used to playing
babysitter yet," Elladan said softly.

"I know...and you know you and Elrohir will have to me me that you
can take care of things if ever I'm gone again."

"Yes ada, I know. We can take care of ourselves. And we'll learn to
help with Arwen...." his voice trailed off as he hung his head. He
hated feeling like he had disappointed his father, especially with
such an important task.

Looking kindly at his son, and putting his arm around him, Elrond
said, This is hard for me...being that your mother left Middle-earth
very quickly." I know," Elladan whispered. "We all miss her so much,
I know it is worse for you. I'm sorry that Elrohir and I failed..."

"You both didn't fail...but you do know I WILL have to punish you."
Elladan nodded. "I know ada. I deserve, I won't have a fit, I
promise. Just forgive me, please?" "I have alreforgforgiven you."
Elladan hugged Elrond. "Thank you Ada..."

Elrond hugged his son tightly for a moment. "Alright son, tis time.
You know what to do." Elladan nodded, and went to the side of the
bed, and lowered his leggings. "Over your knee ada?" he asked "Or the
bed?" "The bed."

Gulping, knowing that meant a worse spanking Elladan, obediant bent
over the side of the bed, bracing himself on his forearms and elbows.
Elrond walked over by Elladan and took from underneath his robe a
hairbrush...it once belonged to his wife and was made from the bark
of the Lorien trees.

Elladan gave a nervous little shudder, waiting for the spanking to
begin. It soon did as Elrond gave him 3 hard smacks on his bare
backside with the hairbrush... SMACK SMACK SMACK.

Gasping, Elladan was determined to stay still and take it like a
grown elf, so he made no other noises. "Why are you being spanked?"

"Because I didn't watch Arwen!!" he said quickly.

SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK to his sit spot. "And what are you going to
do about it?" Elrond asked. Elladan cringed; oh how he *hated* to be
questioned during a spanking! It was so hard to think straight!

"I will... take responsibility for.... what she did today"

SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK "Oooooh," elladan moaned. The hairbrush
seemed to burn deep in his backside. " And what are you going to do
when I decide to go and see Galadriel and Celeborn?" Elrond
continued. raising his hand/

I... i don't know ada!!" it was too hard to think and concentrate on
not crying at the same time. the tears stung his eyes and threatened
to fall. SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK SMACK

"Try again," Elrond ordered sternly. This would indeed be a well
learned lesson.

Tears began to trickle down Elladan's face, and another low moan of
pain escaped. "Keep... arwen.... with me!"

"And?"

There was an *and*? "Ada.... I don't know.... ada saes!" SMACK SMACK
SMACK SMACK SMACK A strangled sob escaped as more tears flowed, his
backside burning and a bright shade of red.

"And...you will make sure that this NEVER happens again!!!" he
emphasized each word with a very hard spank to the backside and sit
spot.

"YES YES!!" Elladan shouted, sobbing loudly, burying his face in the
comforter of the bed. Elrond put the brush down and rubbed gently
Elladan's back..."Shhh, it's all over." "Ada.... ada, I'm sorry." he
sobbed out. "I know...and I forgive you my son," Elrond said
soothingly.

Elladan's bottom was still burning like he was sitting over a fire.
When his father turned him over and hugged him tight, he let his
tears flow more freely, sobbing out all the hurt and fear he had been
feeling since Celebrian's passing.

Elrond rocked his son, just like when Elladan had been an
elfling. "It's over...shhhh.... let it all out." Finally his tears
slowled, and Elladan hugged his father once more. "Th..thank you ada.
I'm sorry I cried, I'm too old for that" "Nonesense, you are never
too old to cry. I cry all the time," Elrond corrected him gently.

As soon as Elladan was sufficiently calmed and comfortable (as could
be expected after a spanking!) Elrond gave a final kiss to his son's
head and went to Elrohir's room---only to find it empty.

Half growling with frustration, Elrond then went to Arwen's room. It
was there he found Elrohir sitting on Arwen's bed, rubbing her back
as she slept. He looked up, startled and sheepish, when his father
enetered.

Elrond gave a warm smile as he watched Elrohir having a tender moment
with Arwen. "Sorry ada," Elrohir whispered. "I know I should have
stayed in my room, but she was having another bad dream---again."
Elrond nodded, crossing the room to stand by his son.

"I understand." He paused for a moment, then asked, "Do you thinK I
am a good ada to the three of you?" Elrohir looked up in
surprise. "Ada, what would make you ask such a question?" he gasped,
trying to be quiet to keep Arwen from waking. "Perhaps we should go
to my room, so we do not distrub her."

Together father and son proceeded to Elrohir's room, where they sat
on the bed next to one another.

"Ada, why would you ask that?"
