Haldir walked to Legolas and kneeled, pulling him in his arms he said softly, “I’m so sorry I’ve hurt you, I never meant to do so. Please forgive me”
Legolas kept crying, clinging onto Haldir tightly.
Haldir held him close and said “It’s okay, let it all out”

Legolas cried and said in between, “I’m so sorry for how I treated you, I didn’t want to do it, but I had to let you know that I…”
He wasn’t able to finish the last sentence because Haldir laid a finger on his lips and said, “Sssh it’s okay, you were right to do it”

Legolas shook his head and said, “No, you meant well, you didn’t…I was wrong to hurt you”

Legolas buried himself deep in Haldir’s arms and sobbed.

Haldir smiled through his tears and kissed him on the head and said, “Do you remember what I promised you that day in the forest? When I made my decision to keep you from such a cruel fate? I swore that ‘I won’t let anyone or anything harm you ever again’. I almost was forced to break my promise.”

Legolas raised his head a bit to look at Haldir and said, “I remember. It was the day I fell in love with you.” A beautiful smile emerged on his face, he looked at Haldir and noticed he was crying as well and dried his tears.

Haldir pressed a tender kiss on his forehead and gently rocked him.
Legolas leaned against his chest and slowly drifted off in reverie.
Haldir felt the weight differences and heard the change in breathing and knew he had fallen asleep.
