Four Hours...

Chapter 48

*Four Hours to a Wedding*

I was pacing in my room, and I could hear Elijah and the boys in the room next door. All I wanted to do was run out and see him, but I knew I couldn't...not yet. Heather and Kelly were talking downstairs with my two cousins who were also my bridesmaids. Emily and Hannah were somewhere...I lost track. 'Four hours' I thought...

"For crying out loud mate!" I suddenly heard through the wall. I heard a laugh, and someone run out into the hall. They ran to my door and knocked, "Sarah?" It was Dom. "Sarah please open up!" Dom suddenly yelled and I heard something connect with the door.

Laughing I ran to the door and looked outside, Dom was on the floor, only his pants on, clutching something in his hands as Billy tried to get it away. Seeing Billy only in his boxers and shirt I realized what it was. "Dom return the kilt this minute!" I scolded him.

"Thank ye lass." Billy breathed, when Dom tossed it up to him. “I had to throw the damned boxers back on before I could come get the bastard!” He winked and skipped back into the room.

"Thank ye lass." Dom mocked, then slipped into my room. "I need help." He said.

"Shirt, tie, jacket, socks, then shoes." I said simply.

"No no no..." He waved his hands. "I have to give a toast at the reception. What do I say?"

"I find it hard to believe that you're unable to think of something to talk about." I crossed my arms and sat on the bed. "Now what is it really?"

"Elijah wanted me to give you something." He pulled something out of his pocket. In his hand was a small dream catcher, but it was more than one you hung by your bed, it was tiny and silver, a necklace. I began to tear up, and handed it to Dom to put on for me. He handed me a tissue and gave me a quick hug and kiss before heading back to his own room. I played with my new necklace, fingering the tiny wire and beads delicately weaved into a beautiful pattern. I sat down at the window to wait.

*Four Minutes to a Wedding*

"Sarah?" There was a knock at my door. I opened it to see Emily and Heather, all dressed and ready to go. Their gowns were a slightly pinker version of my own dress. I'd chosen a pale pearl pink for them, it would match the Rose of Sharon bush in the yard next to the wedding area. "C'mon twit," Emily said, pulling me out the door.

Heather already had tears in her eyes, as did Hannah. "I can't believe we're finally here!" She smiled and hugged me.

Kelly was chewing on her bottom lip and hugged me. "I'm not going to cry." She stated, almost saying it to herself than me. My two cousins were silent, but they hardly ever talked anyway. Audrey gave me a kiss on the cheek and a hug, and Emma pulled my hair...her standard greeting and g'bye.

Elijah was already outside, but Dom and Billy remained. Billy, Hannah and Emily would be the first to go out...so that Billy could stand by Elijah. Sean came and took Audrey’s arm, and Orlando took Kelly's. Jack made sure to give his sister a quick nudge and a hug before taking Emma's. I wish that there'd been more of an opportunity for our friends to meet and talk, only Heather and Dom seemed to becoming friends.

I walked down the stairs to see the ceremony already underway. Elijah and my mom had already been taken down front. My dad came to stand with me, I smiled to see him wearing his Birkenstocks sandals with his tux. Then everything became hazy from there...I heard the preacher ask everyone to stand, and then I was there...in the front of the guests. In front of Elijah. He looked so handsome in his tux, opting for a regular tie instead of a bow since it was a little less formal a ceremony. Billy looked smashing in his kilt, also deciding to dress it down slightly by wearing his normal clan tartan and not a formal black one. Dom, wore a pink tie to match the bridesmaids gowns, and even painted a few nails in the shade the girls were wearing. My bare feet made no sound as I moved on the grass, they were so cold compared to the rest of me. I was all a tingle with excitement and joy...and I knew my face was slightly flushed.

"Dearly Beloved...."

*Elijah's POV*

Oh my God this is it. The preacher's talking...I wish I could understand English...oh wait...She's so beautiful. Wow...wait...he's saying something to me! Snap out of if 'Lij! I fumbled with the paper in my breast pocket, and risked dropping on of her hands to get it. I cleared my throat softly and tried to focus on the words. 'Damn contacts’ I thought. At her light laugh I realized I'd said that aloud.

"Sarah...It was love at first sight. Walking out of my house and seeing that beautiful vision before me one morning, drawing my attention to the road changed my life. And then when I saw you it got even better, a girl and a dog." She smiled...good. "I knew it was too good to be true. But you didn't turn away from me, and you let me heal you. I promised that I'd take care of you, and never let another nightmare darken your dreams. When we first got to speak, at the hospital I was already plotting on how I could see you again. I'd stalk you if need be just to get your number...but you made it easy for me, you didn't send me away. And now it's going to be legal for me to stalk you the rest of my life. I love you so much."

*Sarah's POV*

Oh my God this is it. Oh my...Elijah looks so good in a tux. Wow. Get a grip Sarah or you're going to miss what's being said. Did he really just say "Damn contacts?" He's so cute. Oh oh oh, vows...he's reading vows...oh my god...is it my turn? I reached for Emily who handed me a slip of paper.

"Elijah...I wish I could say it was love at first sight. I wasn't ever expecting to stand here with you. I can't deny that as a child I'd sit in front of my TV and sigh at your beautiful eyes. Then I got the chance to wake up and see your eyes in person. You took me in when for all rights you should've just said you're hello's and gone on with your life. But you didn't...you kept me awake and free of nightmares." I fiddled with the dream catcher around my neck. "You let me fall in love with you. I've found my double, my fellow music nut, and my best friend to spend my days with. And I'll always love you."

The preacher smiled sweetly. "Garrett, do you have the rings?" Kelly smiled and lifted Garrett out of the wagon, Orlando picking up the small pillow that the rings had been attached too. With the rings in hand, the preacher said. "Do you Elijah; take Sarah to be your wife?"

"I do." He slipped the ring onto my finger. I smiled to see that he'd chewed his nails again this morning.

"Do you Sarah take Elijah to be your husband?"

"I do." And slipped the ring onto Elijah's finger.

He smiled, "Then I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride." Elijah waggled his eyebrows and gave me a kiss.

"Kiss...the vicar didn’t mean to snog her mate." Dom whispered. Elijah elbowed him in the side and gave me peck on the nose.

"Ladies and Gentleman, may I introduce for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Jordan Wood." The guests stood and clapped. I was married...I smiled.
