1 Day...Pt 1
Chapter 46
*One Day to a Wedding Pt. 1*
I was nervous. It was now the day before the wedding. We had a small enough crowd of guests that we decided to have a barbeque outside. Most of the guests were staying either here at the Nitz's, or down the street with one of my mom's brothers. It was amazing that even though this was a small town, that the camera's had not made it's way here. There was no announcement in the paper, nor any orders made in mine or Elijah's name. We decided that because the majority of Elijah's friends were either actors or musicians, that they should stay here at the Nitz house. We had about a hundred guests between us, small but very chaotic. When all of our guests had arrived in East Daily for the dinner, everyone that was invited to the wedding was invited to both dinners, though I decided that some of the invitations have the numbers for the hotels in the area, and directions to the house.
Now they were all here...I looked out into the area where we'd set up the tables. It was strange to see the faces of Elijah's family and friends mixed in with mine. The seating had been pre arranged. We wanted them to mix, to meet each other, and to get along no matter what. Elijah's and my parents and close family were at one table, along with those in the wedding party. I'd invited a few people from high school, and also from my college in Kentucky. Even my ex was there...I made a point to put him at a table with some of Elijah's musician friends, most notably Mr. and Mrs. Osbourne. If anyone could offend Stephen, they would...and I was counting on it. I'd met the family a few times through Elijah and Hannah, and gotten to know the family...not well...but enough that Sharon promised to annoy my ex for me.
"Sarah?" Elijah touched my elbow to get my attention.
"Yes?"
"Are you sure?" He smiled and gave me a peck on the nose. I smacked him in the arm as Dom was hurrying to our sides.
"It's time to start eating." He announced in a hiss to us.
I laughed and shook my head at him. "So..." I said pulling him aside. "How's your bridesmaid?" I pointed to my friend Heather, who was chatting with Hannah.
"She's cute." He blushed. "I've got to lead her down the isle?"
"Yes Dom, that's the general idea."
"Oh." He gulped.
"You've not met her yet have you?" I smiled.
"No...I didn't know how to introduce myself." I grabbed his arm and dragged him over to the two girls.
"Hey there Hannah! Heather, this is Dom. Dom, Heather." I pushed him forward and whispered in his ear, "She used to live in England."
"Oh?" He smiled and extended his hand. "I'm Dumb...err...err...sorry. Dom, I’m Dom."
"Heather." She smiled and shook his hand. I left them to it and walked around, stopping every so often as I heard my name called. I noticed that most of my guests weren't speaking to Elijah's.
I skipped over to Elijah where he was talking to Billy and Ian. "We have to do something evil I think." I said to them.
"What do you have in mind my dear?" Ian asked me.
"A game or two, to break the ice and get people talking."
"I've got my guitar lass if ye want to do our little ditty again." Billy winked.
"Uh...no thanks." I said quickly.
"We'll think of something." Elijah assured. "In the meantime, your father's giving the thumbs up to start getting food." He pointed to where my father, grandfather and uncles were at the grills.
"Alright." I walked up towards the middle of the cellar hill and called out. "Hey guys can I have you're attention?" My grandmother smiled at me and winked, pointing to my bare feet. I grinned and called out again. "Hey ya'll settle down ya hear?" It was my best imitation of a southern twang, and Heather laughed...causing Dom to smile at her even more. Stephen was not amused....both of his ex's were here, with men, and not paying attention to him at all. "Sorry about that...but I needed to get your attention."
I opened my mouth to say we were going to announce dinner when Dom took it upon himself to do it for me by shouting "Food time food time!" He grabbed Heather's hand and started skipping with her up to the grills. Those who knew him laughed, those who didn't wondered who he was and what was wrong with him.
"Well Dom stole my spotlight." I laughed, "Care to wear my dress for me hun?"
"Only if I can wear a tiara with it!" He called back. This drew more laughs as people started to warm up to Elijah and his group.
