The Miracle Of The Elves

Chapter 3 The Miracle Of The Elves

In Rivendell Legolas lay wounded and still unconscious. Not dead but weak he was discovered by the Elf Patrol of Rivendell. Lord Elrond was anxious to find out what happened to his daughter, not daring to leave Legolas’ side until he awoke.
Dark dreams filled Legolas’ mind, his sleep was restless.

Her voice filled his dreams, her face, her scent and her blood, spilling in front of him. Covered from head to toe in the blood of innocence Legolas sat helpless, his dying Princess in his arms. Her blood trickled down from her body filling the room as if they were to drown in it. Legolas stood, his hands covered in blood he looked at them in disbelief his tears mixing with the blood, hoping for her revival.

At that he awoke sitting bolt upright in his bed

‘Ilya!!!’ the first words upon his lips.

‘Rest Legolas’ Lord Elrond ordered forcing Legolas back down to his pillow

‘Ilya, she…she’

‘Where is she Legolas?’

‘They took her. Orcs they took her. It was my fault.’

He thought for a minute

‘How could this have happened? Legolas great warrior of Mirkwood, how could I let my love slip through my fingers? I should have died’

‘I have to find her’

He rose from his bed

‘Legolas you must rest you are still weak’ Lord Elrond ordered.

‘I shall find no rest until I find Ilya’ he insisted

‘And you shall find no joy in this pursuit till you are stronger’

‘In love I find my strength and love I have plenty of’

Legolas paused and sat back down on the bed

‘I shall not rest till I find her’

‘So be it Legolas’

‘My Lord, I am in love with your daughter’ Legolas confessed

‘Your intentions are true and honest, Legolas. I know that. I have always known’

‘We were discussing marriage’

‘You wish to marry her’

‘Yes I did’

‘And now’

Legolas remained silent, knowing that the fate of Ilya laid on his conscience

‘If you should find Ilya, you shall be married’ Lord Elrond declared

‘Then there is hope left. I shall leave immediately. For I may be weak but the longer we delay the more she shall slip through our fingers’.

That night Legolas saddled his horse and waited upon Lord Elrond’s blessing to leave

‘Legolas, I pray thee stay a while for we do not know where she is’

‘I cannot, I shall search every inch of the lands till I find her’ Legolas replied

‘So be it. Safe journey Legolas. May the Valar bring you luck’

With that Legolas rode away on his horse.

Lord Elrond sits uneasy in his chamber pondering the fate of his daughter

‘My Lord’ said his councilor ‘what hope is thereLegoLegolas finding the Princess’

‘I do not know, but as long as love is in his heart I believe there is some hope, as does he.

For now everyone in the Kingdom shall search for her also, even in the land of Mordor’

‘But Mordor is a baron waste land my Lord’

‘Indeed but where else shall evil lie. Send out the search parties immediately’

‘And if we do find her’

‘Then we send another search for Legolas and begin to prepare their wedding. Go now’

‘Yes Lord’.
