Of Love and Sacrifices

“No…. Orlando can’t be pregnant! Viggo, this family has already suffered so much shame and criticism after what had happened! And I was able to do all I can within my power to prevent the news from coming out!” Viggo’s mother angrily said as Viggo told her the news of Orlando’s pregnancy. “This can’t be happening! This is too much! What will people say?!”

“Mother… It isn’t Orlando’s fault if he’s pregnant!” Viggo explained.

“Orlando’s fault or not, people will never take the news nicely. And what will they say about you?! That you will raise the child who is not your own?! Son… I am trying to protect your interest here!”

“Mother…. W- what should I do?” Viggo was confused. His mother is right. He can’t even imagine himself taking care of the child if that child happens to be the child of one of those men who raped his husband. Could he ever live with that?

“Talk to Orlando. Tell him that it’s best if he had an abortion.”

“B- but mother… w- what if… what if that child is mine?...” Viggo knew it is still possible considering that they also had sex before that horrible incident happened.

“Even so! We can never be sure! Those are three men Viggo! And the possibility for you to have fathered that child is very slim! You should remember that once the child is born, there is no more turning back! You and Orlando can have as many children as you want! Son… please listen to me... I tried my best to build up our family’s name… our family’s reputation… please… please don’t disappoint me… “

“I… I won’t… mother…”

“Thank you.”

Viggo did not proceed home after his visit with his mother. He went to one of the night clubs alone. He still could not have the courage and strength to face his husband.

Viggo’s legs brought him to a gay bar. He never went to this kind of place before but he just wants to be entertained. The men who were dancing on the stage were gorgeous. But they were all nothing compared to his husband’s beauty. Yet, he could not even touch his husband right now. He is a man… and he has needs…. It has been a while since he had sex… and the men who were dancing were just so tempting… He can’t help but imagine the times when he and Orlando made love.

He was tempted to pay for a night of mind blowing sex but he could not just do it with any other man. He wants his husband. So he just decided to indulge into drinking.

It was almost 2 o’clock am when Viggo arrived home. Sonia could not afford to leave her son alone so she stayed. She was in the sala when Viggo came in. She could not sleep so she decided to watch some DVDs. She stayed with her son until Orlando fell asleep and then she went out. When Sonia saw Viggo enter, they did not talk but just stared at each other for some time and Viggo directly went to the bedroom. But Sonia can very well smell the scent of alcohol from Viggo.

“V- Vig… i- is that you?” Orlando asked sleepily as he noticed someone enter their room.

“Yeah, babe… It’s me…” Viggo replied. He immediately went to lie next to his husband. “I miss you…”

“I… I miss you, too…” Orlando welcomed Viggo’s touch. He and his mother had a conversation earlier and Sonia told him about Viggo’s fears and hurts. It has been a long time since they really spoke to each other and Orlando wanted a fresh start. He could not afford to stay weak for long. He decided to be strong for his husband. Though he is still unsure about the pregnancy, he wanted to talk to Viggo about it. He wanted for them to be close again. If that would mean that they can save their relationship, he was willing to take this chance.

“Orlando…” Viggo could not resist himself upon seeing his husband in bed, and for the first time, not shying away from his touch. “Baby…” Viggo’s hands traveled to Orlando’s thighs.

Orlando stiffened. He was able to smell Viggo. .. “Y- You’re drunk…”

“No, babe… I’m not drunk… I miss you so much… I want to be with you….I want to inside you…” Viggo said as he straddled his husband. On his way home, all Viggo could think of was how he wanted to touch his husband’s beautiful body once more.

Orlando was surprised with Viggo’s action. Viggo started kissing him.

“Stop!....” Orlando panicked. He wanted for them to start anew but he wanted to take things slow

“Babe… I need you… I need you tonight…” Viggo ignored Orlando’s protest and proceeded with his ministrations.

“No! Let me go!......Viggo… you’re drunk!” Orlando instantly knew that his husband is under the strong influence of alcohol and Viggo wants to have sex with him at that very moment.

“No… No…Babe… I promise I will be gentle… Please let me have you… I need you so much right now…” Viggo was not himself. He held Orlando’s wrists above his head.

“No… Please…Stop!... Stop!”

Sonia happened to pass by her son’s room and she was able to hear her son’s pleas. She immediately opened the door. Luckily, it was not locked.

Sonia was shocked to see Viggo on top of her son.

“Viggo! What are you doing?! Get off my son!!! Or I swear I will kill you!” Sonia shouted at the top of her voice as she rushed towards the bed and pushed Viggo away.

Viggo stumbled to the floor. It was then that he realized what he just did.

“N- No….. I…O- Orlando…” Viggo stood up to talk to his husband. Sonia was hugging her so tightly and Orlando was crying.

“Get out!” Sonia shouted.

“I… I didn’t…..”

“I said get out!” Sonia ordered again.

“I- I’m sorry…. I… I didn’t mean to hurt you...” Viggo whispered before heading out. He knew Orlando would not talk to him and he knew what he tried to do was unforgivable. No explanation would be sufficient right now.

Viggo stayed in the sala. He wanted to talk to his husband. He wanted to ask his forgiveness. He was not in his own self earlier. How could he… How could he even try to do it? He was so angry with what those men did to Orlando but how about what he tried to do earlier?! He was no different from those men!


Viggo cried himself to sleep. He woke up upon hearing some movements. When he opened his eyes, he saw Orlando walking towards the door with his mom. They were dressed.

“Orlando…baby… please… I want to talk to you….” Viggo rushed towards them but Chris, Orlando’s oldest brother stopped him.

“Just… let him go, Viggo… We’ve had enough…. You’ve proven last night that you can’t even protect him from yourself! You did not even bother to think of his condition! He’s pregnant Viggo! You’re lucky my brother still cares for you… because if not… I would not let this pass this easily!”

“Chris… you don’t understand! Please…. I need to talk to Orlando!”

Orlando never looked back. He went directly inside the car with his mother.

“My brother does not want to talk to you, Viggo…” Chris said before leaving the other man.

A week passed and Orlando still won’t talk to Viggo. Viggo would try to go to their house almost every day and he would just face Orlando’s family.

“I don’t know what to do, anymore… Mother… Orlando won’t talk to me!”

“Viggo, you’re the husband… you have your rights! His family can’t just push you away…. They should know better!... This is getting worse!... You have to fix this as soon as you can so that our reputation won’t be affected! If only you could divorce him right now… But what would people think of our family?! That we will just leave him helpless like that?!”

“Mother…. I won’t divorce my husband just because I care about other people’s opinion! I won’t divorce Orlando because I love him still….”

“I don’t care about your reasons… as long as you don’t divorce him right now. Fetch your husband… You should still be living under one roof!”

After several attempts of talking to Orlando, the younger man finally agreed.

After what had happened, after what Viggo tried to do, Orlando can’t deny the fact that he is still in love with Viggo.

“Baby...” Viggo smiled as he saw his husband for the first time in weeks. He is still in love with Orlando… Nothing’s changed.

His husband is still very beautiful… despite the slight bulge in his stomach. Viggo frowned a little upon seeing it… It was a painful reminder of the past which both of them were trying so hard to forget.

Orlando smiled at him. Yes, he still love Viggo so much. Even after what he tried to do.

Both of them looked very weary. Orlando could see that Viggo lost some weight.

“Viggo…”

They were not able to control themselves anymore. When they were already facing each other, Viggo hugged Orlando and Orlando hugged back.

“I’m so sorry…. I’m so sorry….” Viggo whispered.

“I know…. I- I’m sorry, too….I’m sorry if I refused to talk to you the past weeks… I tried so hard to forget you… I wanted you to have a new life…”

“Wh- what are you saying?” Viggo was confused.

“V- Vig… I… I don’t know if I would be myself anymore… That night… It was not proper for me to refuse you… I- I’m your husband…. B- but I am not sure anymore if… If could be able to meet your expectations…and this baby…So… S-so I decided that…. I.. I would file a divorce… I… I want you to be happy… Viggo… you don’t have to worry about me… I can survive this…”

“Orlando…” Viggo placed a finger on his husband’s lips…. “ J- just… I just want to know one thing from you… Please… please be honest with me… D- do you still love me?”

Orlando looked at him with tears flowing from his eyes. “I never stopped loving you, Viggo…”

“That’s all I need to know… Baby… I want you… just you… even if we won’t have sex anymore for the rest of our lives…I don’t care… all I want is to be with you… I will die if you leave me… I love you so much….”

“B.. but…”

“Please baby… please… we can get through this together. Let’s be strong for each other… We can never change the past… but please don’t let it destroy what we have for each other….”

“Oh, Viggo….. I love you so much…. I would never love any other…”
