Drug in my Drink
"Seventeen." She replied.
"Only seventeen centuries your young." Aragorn commented.
Courtney's eyebrows knitted together, "Centuries, I'm seventeen years old."
Both Aragorn and Elrond gasped. "Your but a baby." Aragorn said in shock.
"I am not a baby!" She protested glaring at Aragorn. "You are only about five years older than me."
Aragorn laughed aloud, "I'm 66." he told her still laughing.
"66?" She questioned in shock, he only looked about 23 or so no older than 25.
"I have elvish blood in me, I age differentially then most men." He explained.
She nodded, "Umm...How long do elves live?" She asked.
Elrond walked over to her and handed her a cup full of a rich brown liquid, "We are immortal." he replied.
'Immortal' to never die, she didn't know whether she wanted forever. She lifted the cup up to her her lips with shaking hands and sipped the warm fluid, it tasted sweet like honey. It made her whole body warm and a drowsiness set over her, "What was in it?" Courtney asked.
"Just something to help you rest and heal tithin min." Elrond answered talking the cup from her small hands and setting it on the table beside the bed.
"Yo-u drrrugged mme." She slurred out before falling back into the bed as the drug did it's work and she fell into a peaceful sleep.
"I have a feeling that she will not be happy about you giving that to her with out her knowledge." Aragorn said to his adoptive father.
"Yes, I have a feel she will not be." Elrond agreed, "I am going to sent a messenger to go set Gandalf." he told Aragorn.
"I am going to see Arwen."
Elrond smiled knowingly, "Alright."
Courtney once again woke up alone in the same room but this time it was different the room was no longer filled with light but was dark and seemed so much colder. Courtney sat up and rested her back on the wooden head board, she began to think about what had happened, she wondered how she came to be in a world with people that didn't exist. She could tall that the war for the Ring had not taken place Aragorn was not yet king and Rivendell was happy and bright, Elrond and Aragorn didn't seem to have a care in the world. She though about getting up and looking for Lord Elrond or Aragorn but decided against it. After sitting there for about a half and hour she the door opened and she looked up to see Aragorn walk in carrying a tray.
"Good evening my friend." He said as he walked over to the bed.
"Hi." She said softly.
He set the tray on the bedside table and took at seat in the chair that was located beside the bed. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm fine." She said turning to face him.
Aragorn doubted she was fine but nodded. "May I asked you a question?"
She was about to say, 'You just did.' but didn't and instead answered. "Yes."
"Who caused you wounds?" He asked his voice gentle.
Courtney furrowed her brow, there was no way in hell she was going to tell him, she didn't need his pity. "I...I don't remember.
Aragorn had a feeling she was lying but let it go, "Eat." He said picking up a plate off the tray and handing it to her.
She took the plate slowly and cautiously, "Do you know why I'm here?" She asked him as she eat some of the delicious food.
"No but we will find out soon, Lord Elrond has called for Gandalf the Gray." Aragorn told her.
"Gandalf!" She exclaimed excited to meet the wizard but in her excitement she dropped the piece of bread that she had been nibbling on and it fell to the ground.
Aragorn stood to pick up the piece of bread, he moved to pick it up but stopped when he heard a small whimper coming from Courtney. Her eyes were wide and fearful and she know sat in the far side if the bed out of his reach. "I..."I'm sorry." She shuddered out.
He looked at her with worry shining in his blue-gray eyes, he stepped toward her but stopped when she moved further away, "Don't be afraid child." Aragorn cooed, wondering what kind of creature had broken the young elf.
"I didn't mean to drop it, I swear." She told him her voice weak and fragile just like her body and spirit.
"You have done nothing, wrong I am not angry" He told her.
She looked up at him with doe eyes. "Really?"
"Yes, why would I be angry at you? It twas an accident, correct?" He spoke picking up the piece of bread and putting it on the side of the tray before sitting back down in the chair.
"Y-es." She answered letting her defenses down lightly.
