Title: A Bundle of Trouble
Author: Tuxedo Elf

Rating: G
Summary: Two naughty Elflings…
Notes: Written for the 50 Passages Challenge on LJ. Prompt 41 – It's

"Are you sure you can do it?" Orophin asked worriedly. "It is very
risky. Should we be caught…" he trailed off, staring at Rúmil and
chewing on his lip.
"You worry too much," Rúmil replied, looking irritated. "Just trust
me – I know what I am doing!"
Throwing up his hands, Orophin sighed. "Fine, just don't mess up. If
anyone finds out we'll be in so much trouble…"
Rúmil snorted. "No one will find out. No one ever notices me, you
know that!" He grinned broadly. "It is not always a misfortune being
overlooked!" The Elfling looked almost proud of himself, despite not
having done anything yet.
"Alright – let's do it." Orophin nodded firmly and grabbed Rúmil's
hand, dragging him to the base of the large tree. "Are you ready?"
"Of course I am!" Rúmil rolled his eyes at his little brother and
then, without further hesitation, leapt into the tree. Swiftly he
climbed up, until he came to the talan that sat high in the
branches.
Once there, he checked that no one was about before slipping inside
and grabbing what he sought. Within moments he was done and was
rushing back down the tree, a bundle in his arms.
At the bottom, Orophin was waiting for him. Shoving the bundle into
his brother's arms, Rúmil kept running. "Come on!" he hissed. "We
have to get far away or he'll guess!"
Knowing this to be true, Orophin ran after his brother. They hurried
through the wood until they reached a point that they could claim to
have been at all day. As long as they stayed out long enough, no one
should suspect. Dropping the bundle on the ground, Orophin sat down
next to it.
"Was he still in the bath?" he asked.
Rúmil nodded. "He was. He was singing too – it was dreadful! He must
be part man to have a voice like that!"
Orophin laughed, kicking the bundle back towards Rúmil. "What do you
think Haldir will do when he discovers that every single pair of his
leggings have been stolen?"
Rúmil smirked and pulled one pair out, waving them around like a
flag. "As long as he doesn't blame us, I do not care!" He sat back
and watched the legs billowing in the breeze. "That'll teach him to
deny us dessert for a week!"
