Chapter 4
“So, melui nín (my sweet), what can I bring you to eat,” Glorfindel asked as he and Erestor were walking from the Healing House to their chambers.
They were holding hands until Erestor draped Glorfindel’s arm over his shoulder so he could wrap his around Glorfindel’s waist. Leaning into him, “I am not sure. Why do I not go with you, I am sure Galuwen will let us use the side kitchen.”
Glorfindel smiled, “Yes, but I think you should make her another book. Surely she has given you enough of her poetry to fill one.”
“Ha! Enough for a whole volume set of books. Hey, that is not a bad idea, meleth nín (my love). We should go shopping this weekend. Oh wait, you will be on patrol,” he said as tears filled his eyes.
Glorfindel felt sadness swamp Erestor. Pulling him to an alcove Glorfindel cupped Erestor’s face into his hands and wiped the tears that started making tracks down his cheeks, “Melui nín, do not cry. I am not going anywhere. I will not be going on any patrols.”
Sniffling Erestor buried his face against Glorfindel’s chest, “I am such a mess, Glor. Am I going to go around with red, puffy eyes all the time?”
Glorfindel lifted Erestor’s chin and gave him a deep kiss. He pulled Erestor against him and rocked his hips against his, letting Erestor feel his arousal. Finally Glorfindel ended the kiss and chuckled as he looked down at Erestor, who still had his eyes closed and his lips parted as he gasped for breath, “Now you looked thoroughly kissed, not weepy.”
Slowly opening his eyes, Erestor sighed, “If that is what I get for crying, then maybe it is not such a bad thing.”
Glorfindel frowned, “No, Melui nín, I do not like to see your tears. You know I would give you kisses anytime you want.”
Erestor caressed Glorfindel’s cheek, “Glor, Im mela lle (I love you) so much.”
Giving him one more kiss Glorfindel started them walking again, “Come, I need to get you fed so I can take you back to our chambers and give you some proper kisses.”
“Can we stop by our chambers so I can retrieve my necklace, meleth?”
“Of course, melui nín,” Glorfindel said as he kissed Erestor’s head.
After stopping by their chambers for Erestor’s necklace, they soon arrived at the kitchens. They walked in and found that the kitchen staff was cleaning up from lunch. Erestor was about to walk over to greet Galuwen when he felt something rubbing against his legs. Looking down, Erestor smiled as he saw that it was the resident kitchen cat, Faron (Hunter). Crouching down, Erestor scratched under his chin, “Well, hello there.”
“Meow!”
Erestor giggled as Faron stood up on his hind legs and placed a paw upon his cheek, “Meow.” Erestor rubbed the top of his head until suddenly Faron ran out of the kitchen.
“I think he likes you,” Galuwen said, from where she was kneading dough.
“I guess so, he usually ignores me unless I have food,” Erestor said, as he walked over to stand on the other side of the table she was working at. “I was wondering if Glorfindel and I could use the side kitchen to make some lunch? I missed breakfast this morning.”
Galuwen frowned, “Erestor, you work too much sometimes. If you want, I could make something for you two, once I finish kneading this dough?”
Smiling at her scolding, Erestor said, “No, that is alright, Glorfindel and I can manage on our own.”
“Well, alright then, you go on now and get some food into you,” she said with a smile.
‘Melui, have you thought of what you want yet?’
‘Hmm, yes, I want a sandwich I think.’
Glorfindel walked to one of the many iceboxes and asked, “What do you want on your sandwich?”
Erestor stood next to him and looked into the icebox, “There is some chicken salad; I think I will have that, how about you, meleth?”
“Chicken salad sounds great. Why do you not go and pick out some fruit for us while I make our sandwiches?” Glorfindel said as he took out the container of chicken salad from the icebox and went into the side kitchen, snagging a loaf of bread on the way.
While Erestor was looking over the fruit, someone walked by with a jar of peanut butter and his mouth started to water. After grabbing a couple of apples, he went over to the cupboard that held jars of jam and other things and grabbed a jar of peanut butter and a jar of honey before walking back to Glorfindel. Sitting them down onto the counter, Erestor grabbed a knife and sliced the apples into a bowl, spooned peanut butter over them, then drizzled honey onto the apples.
“Mmm, that looks delicious, melui nín,” Glorfindel said as he took the finished sandwiches to a little table in the corner of the kitchen. “Here, melui, sit down and I will retrieve some juice for us,” Glorfindel said as he held out a chair for Erestor to sit down in. Not able to resist, he swooped down and gave Erestor a quick kiss.
Erestor smiled as he watched Glorfindel walk to the icebox. When Erestor looked down at his sandwich, his stomach growled in yearning and he took a big bite. He was about to take another bite when he thought of how good the peanut butter and honey looked. Before he realized what he was doing, Erestor reached out and took an apple from the bowl and smeared the peanut butter and honey on the top of his sandwich and took a bite.
Glorfindel frowned when he came back to the table to find peanut butter and honey coating the top of Erestor’s sandwich, “Erestor, is that good?”
Erestor paused, just about to take another big bite of his sandwich, to look at Glorfindel as he sat down next to him, “Yes, meleth, would you care to try it,” Erestor said as he held out his sandwich to him.
Shaking his head, “No, melui nín, I do not think I would care for chicken salad mixed with peanut butter and honey.”
“Well, I do not think that normally I would care for it either, but here I am enjoying it quite a lot,” Erestor said, then took another bite.
Glorfindel chuckled as he started to eat his sandwich. When they finished their sandwiches and were feeding each other the apples, they heard many crashes and shouts coming from the main kitchen. Glorfindel and Erestor had just walked to the door to see what was the matter when they stopped and looked wide-eyed at the chaos that was before them. Elves were running here in there, trying to shoo the many cats that were clambering all over the kitchen. Suddenly there was a loud meow and all of the cats stopped to look to where Faron was standing.
Erestor started to feel nervous when every cat then looked to him and started to walk towards him. As they neared him, Erestor felt like he was being stalked and when the thirty something cats started swarming around his legs, he yelped and jumped up into Glorfindel’s arms.
Everyone in the kitchen looked on in shock at all the cats meowing at Glorfindel’s feet and Erestor’s look of fear. Faron sensed Erestor’s distress and he let out a loud meow and the silence that followed was almost deafening. Leaping up onto a counter, Faron then carefully jumped and landed in Erestor’s arms. Purring loudly, Faron stared into Erestor’s eyes before he started to lick all over Erestor’s face.
When Faron had jumped into his arms Erestor stiffened but when he started to purr and look into his eyes, somehow he understood why all the cats were clambering for his attention. ‘But how did they know he was with child and why were they giving him all this attention? Why did the Valar bless Glorfindel and I with an Elfling?’ Erestor thought to himself. Suddenly Erestor giggled as Faron started to lick just under his chin, causing a tickle.
Glorfindel sighed as he felt Erestor’s fear dissipate. Their bond was so strong that they felt each other’s emotions, which had not been too much of a problem before but since Erestor’s volatile emotions, Glorfindel was feeling a little drained. ‘Melui nín, what is this all about?’
Erestor gently rubbed Faron’s fur, ‘I am not completely sure. It seems that they know that I am expecting an Elfling and they want to let me know that they are happy for me. I appreciate it but I do not know why Faron and the other cats are paying me all this attention. I always had an affinity for felines but this is a little overwhelming.’
“Erestor, what is all this?” Galuwen demanded.
‘Meleth, I do not want anyone to know just yet that we are expecting.’
“It seems that they just wanted to say hi to me. I apologize, Galuwen, we will leave once we clean up after our lunch,” Erestor said as Glorfindel carefully put him down. Giving Faron a little hug, Erestor put him down and said, “I think you have all made enough of a commotion; you had better scamper off before Galuwen bans you from the kitchens.”
A loud meow was heard and all of the cats made for the exits with haste and the elves just shook their heads at what just happened.
Galuwen looked at Erestor and asked, “Is there something you would like to tell me, mellon nín (my friend)?”
Erestor smiled and placed a kiss upon her cheek before saying, “I will tell you in a day or two, I promise.”
Sighing, Galuwen said, “Alright, you two just go, I can clean up your lunch,” and when Erestor was about to argue, she said, “You two better scamper off, also, before you get banned from the kitchens.”
Erestor smiled, “Alright, hannon le (thank you), mellon nín.”
Glorfindel and Erestor were walking hand in hand towards their chambers when they noticed that they were being followed. Looking over their shoulders, they saw that all of the cats from the kitchens were following them. They continued on their way and smiled as they passed elves on the way, that had to push themselves against the wall to wait for the passing procession in order not to trip over the cats. When they came to a halt in front of their chambers door, they turned to look down into the sea of attentive eyes looking up at them.
Erestor let his eyes roam over the myriad of colored fur and said, “Mellyn nín (My friends), I appreciate the attention but I am tired now am going to take a nap. Maybe if you return this evening, you all could sit with me for awhile.”
Faron purred and rubbed Erestor’s legs before meowing and he and the other cats went on their way.
Glorfindel shook his head, “Melui nín, that is just too weird.”
“I know, meleth, the whole idea of me being with child and now this. I do not know why we are being gifted with this Elfling, I just hope that I am brave enough for this,” Erestor said as tears filled his eyes.
Swinging Erestor up into his arms, Glorfindel carried him into their bedchamber and lay him down onto the bed, “Melui nín, you are the bravest ellon (m. elf) I have ever known. First the Valar blesses me with you and now they bless both of us with a precious Elfling, a symbol of our love. Im mela lle, so very much, hervenn nín (my husband).”
A tear slipped out and Erestor laid a gentle kiss upon Glorfindel’s lips. Leaning back, he stared into the most beautiful blue eyes that were filled with such love, it stole his breath, ‘Love me, hervenn nín, let me feel your love.’
Glorfindel had thought that Erestor could not grow more beautiful, but as he looked upon him now and felt their bond flare between them, his beauty was almost blinding. He reverently disrobed his melui. Lying in between Erestor’s legs, he entered an oiled finger into Erestor’s secret passage and found he did not need to be prepared.
Erestor arched against Glorfindel’s hand, “Saes (Please), meleth, I am ready now.”
Glorfindel stared into Erestor’s eyes as he buried himself to the hilt, “Melui, Im mela lle! Ai (Ah), you feel so good surrounding me.”
Erestor wrapped his legs around Glorfindel’s waist so he could take him deeper inside and pulled him down for a kiss. “Ai! Glor, ind nín (my heart). Im mela lle. So good…”
Their bodies moved together as one. Threading their fingers together they captured each others lips in a ravishing kiss until the need for breath made them draw apart only to stare into each other’s eyes. Just then they heard music in the air and their eyes widened when they suddenly remember that they had heard it once before. They knew now the night that the Valar blessed them with life, not only with their grandson but an Elfling of their own.
‘Meleth nín.’
Tears filled their eyes as they felt their love pulse through them and around them. ‘Melui nín, mine,’ Glorfindel whispered into Erestor’s mind as he took him into his hand and stroked him.
Arching into Glorfindel’s hand, Erestor threw his head back and screamed, “Yours!”
Glorfindel thrust into him once more before following him to completion. Their bodies glowed as their spirits danced in time with the music that echoed on the breeze. Slowly they came back to themselves and stared into each other’s eyes in wonder. The music suddenly came to a crescendo and then died away, leaving the two ellyn (pl. m. elves) to fall into a deep peaceful reverie.
