(Six months later)
Donna rode into Rivendell with her three friends following closely on their own horses. She had been forced to seek help at the Elven haven after a fire had ripped through the villagavinaving nearly all the woman homeless.
She had badly burnt her hands while attempting to recuse a friend from the hated flames, but sadly her efforts were in vain. So with barely a day's supply of rations, and the clothes on their backs, they had saddled the last of their horses and started the three-day trip to Rivendell.
Weak and in pain from her bandaged hands, Donna looked up to see a dark-haired elf standing at the entrance to the Last Homely Home with a golden-haired elf standing at his side.
Erestor felt his heart grip in pity, as he watched the bedraggled mortal women slowly ride into the courtyard of Rivendell. He had received the warning about the approaching party a few hours before and had decided that he and Glorfindel could handle things without interrupting their Lord's meetings.
The messenger had described the weakened and exhausted condition of the women and Erestor could see now that things had not been exaggerated one bit.
Erestor looked up into the dark brown eyes of the lead rider, and sighed at the level of grief he could see within them. "Welcome to Rivendell. I am Erestor, chief adviser to Lord Elrond." Erestor said softly then extended his hand towards Glorfindel. "This is Lord Glorfindel, seneschal of Rivendell. How may we help you?" Erestor said, as he motioned for the stable lads to come forth.
Donna nodded at Erestor's instructions, and dropped the reins of her horse from her painful clasp.
"Greetings, I am Donna. We hail from the former village of Campton in the South. Our village burned down three nights ago, and all you see before you is all that is left. I have been wounded, and we are sorely in need of help..." Donna said in a low flat voice, functioning on the last of her energy, she slowly swayed in her seat.
Erestor stepped forward and grabbed her waist, afraid the woman would fall from her horse, and interrupted her.
"Nay! Say no more! You are in need of rest, and food. Come, we will help you." Erestor said, as he steady the woman. Lifting the unresisting woman from her saddle, he cradled her in his arms as Glorfindel helped the others.
Turning towards the entrance, Erestor glanced over his shoulder at Glorfindel. "Help me bring them into the house. We can put them in the West wing," Erestor said, as he walked away. Heading to the West wing of the house, Erestor stopped a servant, and asked her to notify the healers and Lord Elrond of what was going on.
Kicking open the first door he came to, Erestor carried the woman into the room, and gently placed her on the bed. Removing her cloak and shoes, he could see that she had bandaged hands, and was very pale. " How badly are you injured?" Erestor asked softly as he checked her over for more injuries.
Donna moaned in pain when the elf touched her ribs, and she attempted to move away from him. "I am a healer, and have treated myself as best as I could. I am not that badly hurt. Just some minor burns, and bruised ribs. It is nothing, please see to the others." Donna whispered in a pain-filled voice.
Erestor was about to comment on her "minor injuries" when Glorfindel came back in. "The healers are seeing to the others, but so far nothing too serious. Lord Elrond is coming to see Lady Donna himself, and should be here any moment," Glorfindel said as he came near the bed.
Erestor sighed in relief, he knew that Donna was the worse injured, and she needed help soon. Smiling at her, as he clasped her bandaged hand gently. "You are lucky, My Lady. Lord Elrond is a gifted healer, and will having you feeling as right as rain in no time," Erestor said as he turned his head, hearing footsteps.
Donna looked up and recognized the elf immediately. It was the elf from before! She trembled with fear, as she scooted off the far side of the bed. "Of all the elf's we could have kidnapped...," Donna muttered to herself as she headed towards the window.
Elrond walked into the room, and stopped cold. "IT'S HER!" his mind screamed. He watched as she scooted off the bed and neared the window. He was furious! He was mad as hell! Needless to say, he was one pissed-off Elf-Lord! With a scowl on his face, he took one step towards her, and then watched in shock as she leap out the window.
Erestor and Glorfindel watched in dumbfounded shock, as the woman jumped out the window. Turning towards his Lord, Erestor was even more shocked to see his angered face, as Elrond jerked off his outer robe and ed oed out the window after her.
"Just what in the name of the Valar was that about?" Erestor asked to an equally stunned Glorfindel.
Glorfindel shrugged his shoulders, walking over to the window. "I do not know, but I think one of us should go after them." Glorfindel said, as he stepped out the window.
"Has everyone gone insane?" Erestor asked himself as he headed to get the healing supplies, figuring the woman would need treating sooner or later.
