Glorfindel: *frowns, watching another rabbit fly across the room* Question.

Haldir: Hmmm?

Glorfindel: Why doesn't she just feed the plot bunnies to Boomer and Peaches?

Haldir: *confused* Boomer and Peaches?

Glorfindel: *brows up in DUH! Expression* The snakes?

Haldir: *climbs to top of couch* Snakes? Where?

Glorfindel: Don't tell me you haven't been introduced to her "babies."

Haldir: *shakes head*

Glorfindel: Hold on. *ducks flying rabbit, heading for Shana's room*

*muted voices in other room*

Glorfindel: *reemerges from room with 15-foot long yellow-corn-colored albino python slung around his neck* Haldir, this is Peaches.

Peaches: *brings head up, sticks tongue out toward elf several times, looks at Glory and then back to Hal as if to say, You don't actually expect me to eat THAT do you?*

Haldir: *hand clutching throat at top of couch, keening sounds escaping his mouth*

Shana: *bent over, arms around its middle, duck walking forward with 10-foot long green and black boa, drops snake in front of couch* This is Boomer.

Boomer: *flicking tongue, brings head up onto seat of couch, begins to climb up*

Haldir: *shrieks, leaps off couch, runs out of room screaming*

Shana: *frowns* What was that about?

Glorfindel: *trying not to laugh* Hal HATES snakes.

Shana: *looks at two reptiles* But my babies are so cute!

Haldir: *from other room* Shanastay owns nothing, not even the snakes! They're her mom's!

Shana: Hey!

Chapter 4: Phone Calls and IMs

Shar woke up slowly feeling a weight against her chest and breath on her neck. She opened her eyes, blinking slowly to let her contacts settle in. She looked down to see raven hair spilling across her chest, falling over Erestor's fine-boned face. She gently raised her hand from his back, brushing the hair from his face. Erestor's eyes were closed, his breathing even, lost in a deep healing sleep.

Shar felt the breath on her neck change in pace. Turning her head she watched Haldir's face as he blinked several times, bringing the world into focus. Shar smiled softly as he closed his eyes and reached up over his head, stretching slowly.

Haldir dropped his hand back to its place beneath Shar's breasts. He rested his chin on her shoulder as they just gazed into each other's eyes. Shar took the hand that had been stroking Erestor's hair and tucked an errant lock of Haldir's hair behind his ear, her fingertips lingering for a moment over the pointed tip.

Haldir's eyes closed at the gentle caress, reveling in Shar's soft touch. He reopened his eyes as he felt her fingers leave his ear, trailing down the side of his face before returning to Erestor's hair.

Shar whispered quietly, "Good morning a'maelamin."

Haldir smiled back, "I think we have slept through the morning for the sun is high in the sky and the clock says it is after 12." The Marchwarden shifted forward, placing a fleeting kiss on her lips, reluctant to deepen it with the traumatized elf still in Shar's arms.

Shar met Haldir's gaze for a moment before looking down at the delicate elf curled into her. "I am hesitant to wake him as he has finally found peaceful rest. He is in desperate need of it. I do not doubt that our presence made the difference."

Haldir vocalized the unspoken question hanging in the air, "What are we to do now?"

Shar considered her answer, still speaking softly. "Would you snag my Palm and start calling around? See if you can find out anything about where Erestor's been this past decade." Haldir's stomach rumbled audibly. "And get yourself something to eat, maybe order a pizza or something. E will be hungry when he wakes up. I can sleep for a while longer so we won't disturb him."

Haldir nodded leaning forward to place a chaste kiss on Shar's forehead before climbing off the bed, careful not to disturb the delicate-looking elf in Shar's arms. The Marchwarden quietly moved about the room retrieving jeans, a t-shirt and soft leather boots. He dug around the desk for a moment, coming up with Shar's Palm and wallet.

Shar's eyes followed the guardian's movements about the room wondering for the umpteenth time, How did I ever get so lucky?

Haldir paused in the doorway, looking back at the woman on the bed holding his friend. He murmured softly, "Amin mela lle," before disappearing into the outer room, closing the door softly behind him.

Shar sighed, drawing her fingers through Erestor's hair, wondering at the faint pink lines crisscrossing the councilor's exposed skin. She closed her eyes, drifting off to sleep.

**************

Haldir closed the door softly behind him, moving quickly to the bathroom. He moved about silently, taking care of his morning necessities and dressing. He threw his sweatpants into the hamper before retrieving Shar's Palm and wallet.

The Marchwarden went into the kitchen to retrieve the cordless phone and get some food. He eyed the tin-foil wrapped plate of cookies on the counter for a moment before taking several and settling at the table to make the necessary calls.

If Shar were awake she'd throw a fit at me for eating these now. Haldir smiled to himself remembering fondly Shar lecturing him about his eating habits of late. The former Marchwarden had acquired a taste for junk food, proving he could also have quite the sweet tooth.

Haldir remembers………

Haldir looked appropriately chagrined as Shar came home and caught him with a greasy bag of Fatburger and the last of the brownies she had baked the previous night.

"HALDIR!" she had scolded, "You know damn well that stuff is not good for you and will make you sick later." She picked up the plate of remaining brownies frowning, "These were for the fire volunteers." She smacked his arm with the back of her hand, "BAD ELF!"

Haldir retaliated, smacking her round ass as she walked away. The red-head froze, stiffening. The guardian couldn't stop a wave of apprehension as Shar turned back, her face utterly serious.

"Snag yourself a comforter. You get the couch tonight, roommate be damned."

Haldir moved to object, but the woman's retreating back broached no argument.

"Hope you liked the meal 'cause I'm taking the credit cards away."

The former Marchwarden buried his head in his hands, muttering to himself. I knew the risk of getting caught with this and now I get to face the consequences. He pulled his face from his hands as Shar indifferently walked past him, making sure to give Haldir a wide berth.

Still in memory, several hours later………

Shar's roommate Dani had come home an hour before and eyed Haldir stretched out on the couch, TV remote in hand, no sign of Shar in sight.

The shapely brunette with standout blonde highlights smiled snarkily at the elf. Haldir glowered back.

"In the doghouse?" she asked rhetorically, sweeping past to her room, not waiting for an answer.

Haldir harbored a nagging suspicion that if she even thought she had the slightest chance with him she'd be all over him. From the first time he'd met the normally soft-spoken brunette he'd made it more than amply clear he had eyes only for Shar.

Dani had quickly settled into her room. She had the early shift at her work and had to be up by 4am affording her precious little sleep with her active social life.

Finally giving up on the TV he clicked it off, listening to Shar move about their room. The fact that she was still up spoke volumes to the fact that this particular punishment affected her as much as him.

Haldir could hear her nails clicking furiously at the computer. Deciding to take a chance he approached their bedroom door. He was clad only in his robe in the hopes she would cool off and welcome him back into their bed.

He tried the doorknob, surprised to find it unlocked. He opened the door silently. The computer was at the far end of the room, placing Shar's back to the door.

The woman did not acknowledge the elf's entrance, though she had acquired the ability to sense his presence long ago. As Haldir moved closer Shar gave no indication she was aware of him there, so absorbed was she in the Instant Messenger conversation she was having online. She was wearing only a medium length sleep shift which had ridden up, exposing the curve of her bottom.

Haldir's arousal sprung to full attention at the sight. He undid the knot in his robe, holding the fabric together as he moved closer. He took matters into his own hands when standing next to her she still did not register his presence. To hell with it.

Haldir picked her up from the chair, hands on her waist. He slid into the seat, his robe falling open as he placed her bare bottom on his lap, his arousal rubbing against her backside. He felt the immediate rush of warmth and moisture from Shar against his thigh and lifted her again, impaling her on his throbbing length.

Her hands clutched at his on her waist as she released a shuddering cry at the unexpected invasion. Her body betrayed her as her channel clamped down around his length.

Haldir murmured musically in her ear, "Anrion an caro mil."

Shar shivered at the words, goose bumps rising on her exposed arms and legs. She choked back a sob as he pulled her back into the curve of the pappa-san chair. She leaned against his chest as he released his arms from his robe, his hands moving to the base of her shift. She didn't resist as he pulled the garment up over her head, tossing it away.

Shar let herself go limp under Haldir's talented hands, arching into his hands on her breasts. A soft sigh escaped her lips as he began to thrust shallowly into her, the head of his arousal rubbing against her cervix.

Her hands had dropped to grasp at his thighs when he brought his hands to her breasts, kneading them in his palms as he sucked at her neck, moaning softly. How did I ever get so lucky to find a lover so talented and giving?

Haldir felt Shar's hands squeeze reflexively on his thighs marveling not for the first time that she was always wet and ready for him. She had so tuned herself to his desires that it took only the barest touch for her body to respond to his. He could feel his thighs getting slippery from her juices.

Mine. All mine. Haldir slid one hand down her stomach to her clit, stimulating the bundle of nerves there, pulling another gasp from Shar's lips. That's it… Cum for me. He flexed his hips faster, thrusting into her harder. Shar moved with him, rotating her hips as they both neared release.

As he felt her walls flutter around him Haldir murmured huskily in her ear, "Say my name, Melamin."

Shar gasped as he pinched both her clit and nipple sending her spiraling, "HALDIR!!! OOooohhhhh…"

The guardian thrust several more times, groaning as he released his seed deep within her body, "Ay Lirimaer." Haldir leaned back into the recessed chair, pulling Shar with him as her muscles convulsed around his softening length.

Shar drew a deep breath as he shifted her on his lap, turning her slightly so she rested against his arm and the curve of the chair, her knees bent, feet pressed against his thigh. In this new position she could look at him easily. He takes so much pride in the fact he can change our position without ever breaking our intimate contact. Admittedly that is a talent unto itself. Shar smiled softly at him as he leaned down to kiss her lips, the smile not quite reaching her eyes.

Haldir pulled back, studying her for a moment. "I'm sorry I used the card to get junk food."

Shar's expression didn't change as she brought her hand up, tracing the angles of his face with her fingertips.

Haldir leaned into her gentle touch, still regarding her with his eyes. "Something is bothering you and it's not my eating habits."

Shar bit her lip nodding slowly. The computer chimed insistently, distracting her for a moment as she pulled the keyboard onto her stomach tapping out a short message to the person she had been IMing previously. She looked back at the Marchwarden who waited, an expectant look on his face.

Shar released a breath she didn't realize she'd been holding and spoke slowly. "We found the twins…" she started.

"But that's good news! Where are they?" Haldir burst out, registering the saddened look still on Shar's face.

She answered, "They're in Belgium. Lori's got them. They're ok. Already giving all kinds of trouble to the poor woman." The edges of Shar's mouth quirked up for a moment before dropping again.

"What else? What is it?" Haldir questioned.

Shar bit her lip, holding back tears as she looked into her love's eyes. Finally it hit him why she'd look at him like that.

"Sweet Elbereth, it's Orophin. Oh Valar NO!"

Shar silenced him with a finger on his lips. "It's not what you think. We'd hoped the twins would have some word of him. They didn't. We thought we'd tracked him down but the lead fizzled. Nothing has changed. We're right where we were. Don't fret. No news is good news." Haldir looked at her dubiously. "I know, I know. It's been over 3 years, but there's nothing more we can do."

Haldir sighed, pulling Shar against his shoulder and wrapping his arms around her.

Back in the present………

Haldir sighed, pulling himself from his revere. What a time to get caught up in a memory. It took the Marchwarden a split second to realize he still had his softening length in his hand. He groaned. At least I put a paper towel in my lap.

He cleaned his stomach and hand off, throwing away the paper towel and returned to the table clicking through the phone list on the Palm. Finding the one he wanted he picked up the phone and dialed.

Back in the bedroom, Shar's dreams were taking a decidedly different direction…
