Like Old Times

A/N: Aly thanks for pointing out the name mix up. This wasn't supposed to be a sequel to Lorien's Orphans. But as I was writing it took on a similar tune and decided to make it the sequel. Hence the introduction scene. Let's just say that Rumid red recognize Glorfindel but he was being polite. ;) As for him not recognizing Glorfindel well he as far away and his back was turned. Also Elrond and Erestor may have gone to Lorien to visit the brothers but who would watch Imladris? So Glorfindel had never traveled with them. This time however the twins were home and not hunting Orc. So Glorfindel went along!

~*~*~*~*~*

Glorfindel was getting worried as Rumil had been asleep for fourteen hours. One of the Firstborn did not need so much sleep unless recovering from some sort of trauma. Glorfindel sat next to Rumil's bed and stared at the sleeping elf. He could not believe the young one's brothers could be so mean to him. They had been so protective of him when he was an elfling. Elrond had told him the story of how the six of them had snuck off to an abandoned talan. They had got into a fight and Rumil had been tossed against a wall. Haldir and Orophin had been so distraught. The only other time they were so upset, besides at their parent’s deaths, was when the Lady Celebrian had sailed. Glorfindel remembered that day clearly. All of them had stood on the docks as the ship sailed, they had hugged and comforted one another. Glorfindel shook his head those guardians needed this lesson. They always thought Rumil would be there and so they took him for granted. He hoped this would teach them a lesson because Valar knows he never could.

It had taken little persuasion to get Legolas to accompany them to Imladris. Legolas hadn't seen Rumil since the death of his mother. Thranduil had taken Legolas home and his duties kept him there. The twins informed him of Haldir and Orophin's rude treatment. Legolas was instantly livid because someone was always hurting poor Rumil. Rumil had always been the most sensitive of the group. Legolas had always felt a need to protect him and when they were in Lorien he could be always found next to Rumiley dey departed the day after the twins arrived, Legolas wanted to go to Lorien to see his old "friends". But Elladan told him of how sick Rumil was due to the treatment he had received. They hurried along and arrived in Imladris in half the time it usually took.

~*~*~*~*~*~

Rumil opened his eyes and he looked around confused. After a few minutes he remembered he was in Imladris. He sat up and received quite a shock when he saw Glorfindel sleeping in the chair next to his bed. Glorfindel awoke instantly and smiled at the young guardian.

"I see you are finally awake pen-neth." Glorfindel said as he stretched.

"How long have I slept?" Rumil asked his voice raspy.

"Fifteen hours." Glorfindel stood and disappeared into the bathroom where he b dra drawing water.

Rumil sighed and tried not to cry the dull ache in his chest was growing worse. He knew it was his brother's rejection and his unrequited love of Glorfindel. Tears pricked at his eyes as he struggled not to cry. He felt arms wrap around him, sighing he leaned against Glolrfindel's chest for comfort.

"Shhhhhh. Just let it all out pen-neth. It will be alright." Glorfindel said in a soothing tone.

Rumil clutched at the front of Glorfindel's robes as he cried his heart out. After many long minutes the sobs turned into whimpers and finally the whimpers subsided. Glorfindel pulled the young elf to his feet and he slowly undressed the guardian. Rumil blushed at being naked in front of his secret crush but he was to weak to fight. He let Glorfindel pull him into the bathing chamber, sighing he got into the hot water. Glorfindel knelt by the tub as he scrubbed the guardian and washed his hair. Rumil sighed and closed his eyes and he let Glorfindel do as he wished. Glorfindel let Rumil soak as he went and stoked the fire and set out robes.

"Come on Rumil the water grows cold." Glorfindel said as he pulled the younger elf out of the water.

Rumil allowed himself to be wrapped in a large to well and led back into his rooms. Glorfindel quickly dried the guardian and sat him at the vanity. He picked up a vial of oil and he gently massaged Rumil's tense and sore muscles. Rumil ed aed as the elder kneaded tense, aching muscles.

"Feels good." he whispered.

Glorfindel smiled. "When was the last time anyone pampered you pen-neth?"

"Never. Was to busy training to partake in sweeter delights." Rumil blushed at his admonition.

Glorfindel's hands stilled as he realized that Rumil was still untouched. Chastising himself he resumed his ministrations. After he was satisfied that Rumil was relaxed he helped him dress and braid his hair. Rumil smiled tiredly at Glorfindel.

“Hungry pen-neth?” Glorfindel asked.

Rumil nodded and followed Glorfindel to the informal study where breakfast for two was waiting. Rumil sat when Glorfindel offered him a chair, Glorfindel sat across from the guardian. They ate in silence and when Glorfindel was satisfied that Rumil had eaten enough he had the table cleared off. The door opened and the twins entered laughing. They knelt in front of Rumil and bowed.

“We brought you a gift our most honored guest.” Elrohir said as Elladan opened the door again.

Rumil was shocked when his old friend stepped inside and knelt in front on him. Legolas smiled and took Rumil’s hands. He started when he felt how cold those hands were, he looked over at Glorfindel who nodded.

“I came when the twins told me. We are all here for you.” Legolas said genuinely.

Rumil tried to smile but he started to cry instead, he slid out of his chair and embraced Legolas. Soon the twins joined in and the four of them where hugging. It was almost like old times. The only difference being that Haldir and Orophin were on the outs…for now.
