Penquins and Pompas Asses

Chapter 37

We spent most of the afternoon walking around central park, going to the different parks and tourist traps. The zoo was the last stop, and I laughed when we got to the penguins...and couldn't help but smile as I saw one running around wildly. Lunch and Dinner were eaten together, sausages and sour kraut with an ice cream cone for afterwards. In one of the gazebos there was a group of younger teens playing guitars and singing different songs. We stopped to listen to them, and when we were noticed, asked to join them for a few songs. Billy gladly played a few tunes with them, and sang a few requests. When we left, we slipped some cash into their jar and waved goodbye. It was starting to get dark, and as we were making our way back I felt a tug at my jacket. I mostly ignored it, thinking it was Dom. But the second tug brought me to the ground. "What the--" I said.

"Hey there sweets." It was David.

"Oi! Get away from her mate." Billy growled at him.

David pulled me up, and wrapped an arm around me, "Who's this hun?" He asked in a calm tone.

"Billy." I said with clenched teeth. Billy held my gaze, and I watched him tense and rise up on the balls of his feet.

"Ah...it’s nice to meet you Billy." He pulled me closer, and I felt a sharp tip in my side. "C'mon babe lets go."

"I don't think so mate." Billy warned. He moved closer, but the tip in my side got more pronounced. I shook my head sharply once and Billy stopped with understanding. Dom watched the whole scene unfold quietly. He knew he couldn't do anything but make it worse. He stood ready to catch me if Billy threw me clear of David.

"Let's go somewhere and talk."

"No mate, I don't think so.” Billy growled again.

“I think you and your friend should leave." David stated and started to pull me away but I suddenly pulled against him like Billy had taught me. I felt his hands slip from around me and I ran towards Dom. David, not missing a beat, caught me again. This time I felt the knife...hard. I didn't think, just swung at him with my shoulder bag. I knew it didn't do much, but Billy had already moved. I didn't see much more after that, crumbling to the dirt path in a heap. I felt like my side was on fire. I made myself turn up, just in time to see Billy kick David back. I lay my head back as I heard hit after hit.

Dom ran to my side, “Sarah?” He put his hands on my face, “Stay with us darlin’ okay?” He stood up and looked ready to help Billy but before he could David went down hard, but not long after I saw Billy drop as well. The last thing I heard was Dom yelling into his mobile phone.
