CH 35~A life for a life.
Haldir had taken Chrissy and Jenny in a secret way as it was less noticeable by Orc’s and Warg riders. They were getting close to where the edge of the cliff was when Chrissy felt a stinking pain in her heart.
She followed her instinct, “We must go this way!” Chrissy stated.
Haldir stated, “That way leads to Fangorn forest. We must not take that pathway into madness.”
Chrissy did not listen to Haldir as she had to follow her heart. This is what Lady Galadriel said and she prayed that it would be right.
Haldir stubbornly followed as Chrissy lead the way. He knew that she must know where she is going.
Jenny looked around, “Chrissy, this is where our parents lived,” she said while observing.
Listening vaguely, “Yes, I know. Lady Galadriel told me all about them. Let us go this way, I sense something,” as Chrissy requested.
They followed the path of the river until they came across a few Orc’s that were in the distance. Jenny and Chrissy tried to sneak around them except there scent had been caught in the wind.
The Orc sniffed into the air, “Maiden Flesh…Get your goblins and Orc’s ready!! Move…they are in the distance.” One of the leads stated.
Haldir radar went off, “Get out of here now! Follow the River south and I will follow.” He warned.
Chrissy began to grow tired of filthy Orc’s and started to get restless.
With fire in her eyes, “I will stand and fight!” Chrissy said as she protested.
He had fear in his eyes, “No, you mustn’t…Orlando would never forgive me…Please go…I will handle these creatures.” Haldir pleaded.
Jenny added, “Let’s go Chrissy. I hate Orc’s…Remember the last time we were caught with the Orc’s…we almost lost you,” as she began to get scared.
Chrissy agreed, “All right…Be careful, Haldir!”
Haldir gave her a nod as he rode off towards the Orc’s. To his luck, Legolas was already heading them off.
Legolas was already on the Orc’s and goblins tails when in the distance he saw Jenny and Chrissy with Haldir. In that moment fear grew in the Princes heart and he silently hoped that the two women would be all right.
He saw Haldir riding towards them and started shooting his arrows in his direction to divert the Orc’s towards the maidens.
Haldir and Legolas killed a good majority of the twenty or so Orc’s and Goblins. The two finally met up when the furious Legolas approached Haldir.
Angry washed over his face, “What were you thinking bring Jenny here in the mist of battle? I thought we had an agreement that it would only be Lady Chrissy?” Legolas asked angrily.
Sternness came over his eyes, “This is not the time to be angry with me, Legolas. You know I would not bring her with out a reason.” Haldir stated.
Legolas gathered to his senses and said, “Let us move forward. They will need our help…”
When Haldir left the battle had some what died down and he knew that something must have went wrong.
Haldir and Legolas rode towards Fangorn forest to meet up with the two maidens that were searching for Orlando.
The two girls’ ran the horses hard and fast away from the Orc’s that were coming in the distance. To there surprise the beast were not after them any longer.
Jenny began to get scared, “Chrissy are you sure you know where you’re going?”
She tried to be brave, “Not really but I am going to trust my heart on this one Jenny. Please believe that I would not be out here if I did not have to be.” Chrissy answered scared.
The two women rode for hours until Chrissy began to feel her heart beat wildly. She knew that Orlando was nearby some where but they had to find him.
Legolas and Haldir were on the maiden’s trail and saw them in the distance.
Legolas rode faster to get beside Jenny because then he could protect her if anything should happen.
He called out, “Jenny!”
Chrissy and Jenny had slowed down a bit when in the distance she heard her name being call out. She turned around to see Legolas riding towards her horse.
Jenny said happily, “Chrissy I am going to wait on Legolas.”
Following her senses, “All right, Jenny. I am going this way…I have a gut feeling that Orlando is over this way.” Chrissy replied.
Jenny waited on Legolas to arrive and was very relieved to see him. She hated being vulnerable in the woods alone.
When the two approached, Jenny cried out, “Legolas, you’re late!”
Legolas smiled at her, “Nay, I am right on time.”
He knew she was frightened as he sensed her fears in his heart. Legolas embraced her in his arms as he moved her from the other horse to his and moved her belongs.
She would be safer in his protect in case they split up or the horse got spooked. Then, Legolas gave it a tap and the horse ran off.
Haldir spoke, “Let us leave this place and catch up with Lady Chrissy…She will need you, Lady Jenny… when the time comes…be prepared.”
Legolas gazed out in the distance, “She is heading south towards Fangorn shores, let us ride.”
The three of them rode hard into the distance as they knew that Chrissy would some how find Prince Orlando.
Chrissy rode ahead for a while, then realized how unprotected she felt and remembered the elvish chain that Lord Elrond had given her before she left. She reached in the bag, pulled it out and put it on.
Chrissy thoughts, “Wow this thing is so light…where have I seen this before…Crap…I must move on….I don’t want to have to fight an Orc’s.”
The horse moved with a command but night fall was approaching and she started to give up hope until she saw something lying in the distance.
As she got closer she knew that had to be Orlando as she galloped the horse harder until the object became visible.
Orlando was dreaming of the time he spent in Rivendell with Chrissy. His senses told him that someone was approaching and he opened his eyes to see someone he did not expect.
Chrissy stop the horse as she jumped off and ran over to where Orlando was lying. She could not believe how badly wounded he was and if he were to move he could die. The arrow that pierced his heart was in a bad spot one wrong move could be fatal.
She skidded down next to him, “I am here, Orlando.” Tears streamed down her face.
While coughing he stated, “What are you doing here? Go back,” as he pleaded for her to leave.
Trying to be brave, “No, I will not leave! I am going to save you.” Chrissy said sternly.
Stubbornly he replied, “I am to far gone for anyone to save me! It would take a few days to journey back into Mirkwood…”
Tears sparked in her eyes, “Don’t say that! I need you, we need you, Orlando. Some how, I have to save you…” She stated as she touched his face.
Now searching her eyes, “I know I am needed….you warned me not to go…I should have listened.” Orlando stated weakly.
Chrissy said as tears filled her eyes, “Shh, listen to your heart...your going to live! I swear it…”
Orlando could not bear to see her cry and these words that she spoke echoed in his mind.
She leaned over and said, “If you cannot live for me, live for our child!”
Then, in that moment, Chrissy had a flash back in her mind of seeing her mother use this gift on her father that had been badly wounded in battle.
In a healing room she saw an Elf that was female and knew in her heart that it was her mother.
She said, “Little one, come here. I shall teach you the skill that you bear. In time, you may need to know how to use it.”
The little female elfling walked over and cried out, “Ada, you are hurt badly.”
In a frail voice, “You’re Desh ‘mieve (Mother) is going to save me. Watch and learn, Eren’rai. (Daughter)”
Then her mother said, “If you bind yourself to a lover, there is a difference in the way you must heal.”
“What do you mean Desh ’mieve?”
“You must intertwine your souls into one in order for the light to take over and heal. You will grow weak as this happens but you will not sleep. At this point your body will be vulnerable if a blade or arrow pierces your body and you will die. But this is not my fate, watch little one.”
Chrissy watched as her mother healed her father with a kiss. The blue light was so blinding that it caused the vision to fade.
In that moment, Chrissy knew what her place was and how to use the gift that was handed down to her from her mother.
Chrissy tried to reason with him, “I am going to save you, now let me…” She pleaded.
Orlando pulled out all of his pride and agreed to let her save him. He did not want to leave her fatherless.
Chrissy knew that the poisoned arrow would have to come out and she need a diversion.
She tried to get him to recall something, “Remember the night when we were in Rivendell and we were out in the rain and kissing so passionately?” Chrissy stated.
Orlando wondered why she was recalling this, “Ah, I recall! You were incredibly beautiful and the way you’re…”
This was the perfect time to remove the arrow as she pulled up he winced out in pain.
Orlando screamed out, “AH,” then he mouthed the words, “I cannot breathe,” as her lips pressed against his lips.
Chrissy hushed his lips with a kiss and let her mind take over as she concentrated on there souls.
The whole ground started to shake as blue light glowed around them as the healing process began. Then two flew up in the air like butterflies as there souls were released.
The others saw in the distance a blue light that was blinding to there eye and knew that Chrissy must have found Orlando.
Legolas asked, “What is this light…” as he tried to look at the bright light.
She smiled, “It is Chrissy, she is healing Orlando and the light is pouring forth for her…” Jenny answered with tears in her eyes.
Haldir commanded, “Let us go to them…” as they made there way over.
As Orlando kissed the female he loved, he felt his body began to heal of the poison that flew threw his vanes. He felt different and strange as life rang through his body as it felt whole. They kissed for a few moments longer and then Chrissy fell weak.
Orlando looked down to see where the arrow that pierced his lung was fully healed. Then he turned to where she laid there on the ground as she stared up at him.
He touched her face, “My luv, you healed my wound and the poison,” as he gratefully gazed upon her.
She smiled weakly, “I could not handle being alone...without you…”
Orlando kissed Chrissy and then kissed her stomach where there child grew. He knew that danger was surrounding them and he need to get her out of this spot.
She felt very strange, “Orlando, take me out of here. I am so weak…I could not bear it if we lost our child…Do not let anything happen to me…if something were to happen…I could die!” Chrissy stated with fear in her eyes.
The last word she said scared him as it ran through his mind. He could not let her die and knowing that if she went, the unborn went with her and he could not bear to loose both.
Orlando searched her eyes, “I shall not let you die…I will protect you and our unborn at all costs…even if it takes my very own life…” as he swore upon her life.
Her body was very weak and it was hard for her to stand on her feet. But she managed to find the strength as she leaned against him for support.
They were walking to where the horse was when Orlando noticed his brother, Haldir and Lady Jenny. He watched as they all approached in the darkness and Legolas jumped down from his horse.
He gazed upon the both of them, “My brother, you are well…but Lady Chrissy you are not…” Legolas observed with questions in his eyes.
Chrissy legs started to buckle and her body began to sway in Orlando’s arms. He caught her fragile body as it went limp and what strength she did have was gone.
Orlando glanced up, “Legolas, we must get her back to the Mirkwood Palace. She is very weak after healing my wounds…”
Jenny broke in, “Chrissy, your strength is failing you,” She glanced over to Legolas, “We must do as Orlando said…or she will die.”
He warned, “I agree!! Orc’s and Goblins are fleeing this way. Jenny you must stay close to Chrissy…I fear that she will need you…soon.” Haldir stated he warned.
It was just a gut feeling as Haldir heeded his plea onto Jenny. As Lady Galadriel for told this information, he had to make sure that she stayed with Lady Chrissy at all times. For some reason, he feared the worst was about to happen.
Jenny’s ears caught wind of what Haldir spoke as it was not the first time he said this to her and knew that he must know something was about to happen.
In this moment, Jenny knew that she must take her place and guard over her friend. Throughout her life, Chrissy has always been the one to shield her from all that was bad as it was her turn to protect her from harm.
Jenny stately firmly, “Legolas we must stay close to Chrissy…I believe that my time has come to stand up from this fear of fighting…Let us get her to safety.”
In a memory, Jenny was afraid to pick up a sword again after a tournament that left someone badly wounded. The suit that her opponent wore that day was faulty and the skinny blade pierced the material as it stuck right into her heart.
It caused the young girl to fall over as blood gushed right thru and spilled onto the floor of the arena. She felt awful for accidentally hurting the girl and said that would be the last time she would ever use a sword again. But she did not know that the girl’s garments did not have the protective ware underneath.
He saw a change in her, “I agree! Let us leave…now.” Legolas answered in a hurry.
Orlando gathered Chrissy up onto the horse and he jumped behind her as they all began riding towards Mirkwood. The journey was long and tiring as the two fell asleep but they were awakened by a jolt.
Haldir was the first to sense a noise that came from the east. He knew that something was not right as he turned to eye Legolas and Orlando.
His ears moved to the sound, “I sense the disturbance too.” Legolas stated.
Then to there surprise, a Warg Rider flew out from the bushes at Haldir and he quickly pulled out two arrows as he shot it at the beast.
His eyes were sensing danger, “A scout…we must move northwest,” as Legolas tried to maneuver his horse around.
The horses began to run faster as Jenny and Chrissy were awakened by the sudden change of pace. But to there surprise, they were right in the middle of a trap and were caught off guard.
The horses began to get restless as they let out there own screams of warning and jumped up on there hid legs in panic.
Legolas tried to calm the horse and held onto Jenny so she would not slip off. Orlando did the same thing expect a beast attacked his horse and Chrissy flew off.
He ended up on the other side of a tree as he searched for Chrissy. But in the mist of it all, he had to defend himself and he pulled his sword as it sliced right through the Orc.
Haldir shot an arrow in the distance and killed the Warg rider that jumped in front of Orlando’s horse. It killed him instantly as more poured from behind there hiding place.
Chrissy was thrown into the air as she was sent crashing down onto the cold and damp ground. It knocked the breath right out of her as she laid there for a moment until an Orc started to charge her way.
