Elijah??
Chapter 35
After I had gotten dressed and ready to go, I found Billy and Dom in the hall wrestling. "What is going on now?" I laughed. "I can't leave you two alone for a second can I?"
"Not really…no...sorry Lass." Billy smiled grimly. He pulled Dom off the floor and took my arm. We went to a quaint Italian cafe just down the street from my flat, and dined on breadsticks and salad.
"So how long are you guys in town?" I asked.
"Only a few days." Dom said. "I've gotta get back to Hawaii soon."
"And myself to Scotland."
"Oh." I sipped at my wine, trying not to think about being alone for another few weeks. "Well are you ready to go?" I reached for the check and got my hand slapped by Dom.
"No, no, I'll take care of this one."
I smiled, "This time, you're the guests. New Zealand was just a one time only deal." I snatched the check, and even paid for the cab to my apartment. We spent the evening watching TV and playing video games on Elijah's system. I had to admit that I was not that good at the newer systems, but I wasn't terrible either. We mostly played the Return of the King game that 'Lij had gotten. I liked being Legolas, using my knives and my bow and arrow. It was cool that you could be Pippin every once in a while too.
I'd been prepared by Elijah's phone message, so I'd stocked up on enough junk food and apples to last a few weeks of visits. When we finally decided to retire for the evening, I got up to find several crumbled up chips and empty lollipop sticks in my couch. I smiled and shook my head, "G'night guys."
"Night lass, sleep tight. You shoot tomorrow?" Billy said from the floor.
"No, we have Saturday’s off. So we can do what ever you guys want tomorrow."
"That's great. Have a good sleep. I'll clean up." He nodded to the dozing Dominic curled on my couch. "See you in the morning."
I smiled and padded down the hall to my room. I'd brushed my hair and teeth and just crawled into bed when the phone rang. "For crying out loud it's three in the morning!" I cried, but remembered that Elijah was hours ahead, and might be calling. "Hello?"
"Sarah?" The voice wasn't Elijah.
"This is Ms. Lewis, who is this?"
"This is David Anderson. How are you?"
David Anderson? Calling me at three in the morning? "David, it's three in the morning, what the hell do you want?" I tried to keep my voice down, but I was fuming.
"I know, but I really wanted to talk to you." I could hear him smiling. "Look, do you want to go out with me tomorrow? I know we don't have to film tomorrow, but I really want to see you."
"No David. I've told you already that I don't want to go out. I'm involved in a relationship right now, and I have no intentions of ending it so I can go out with you."
"Dammit Sarah, there's not a man in the world who'll feel the way I do for you." He was getting angry. "Who is this bastard anyway?"
I blazed. "I am not going to have this conversation with you, not now and certainly not Sunday at work." I hung up the phone, which immediately rang again. "Yes?"
"You're going to be sorry." The line went dead. I slammed down the phone and went to bed...unaware that in the living room, Billy had answered the phone, and heard every word.
