B, B & B
Ch30
Being the phenomenal advisor that he was, Erestor quickly found the
entry in his fathers journal he wanted to begin with, then opened his
brothers to the same date. Starting with his fathers, he sighed as he
began to read...
Fathers Journal:
I have another son! The Valar have blessed me with another son after
such a long time. Eresorn ran all the way here from the training
grounds
when he heard that it was time, and Thalion had to hold him back from
trying to pick up his new little gwadar. We have named him Erestor and
already he has surprised me...his hair is as black as the deepest cave
and he is stunning to look upon. The butterflies arrived almost
immediately and filled the room, though only the blue with black edging
landed on him. Why the Midnight Butterflies only, I know not, it
surprised me greatly for they are the shyest breed and have never
landed on any other family member that I can recall. Erestor loved them
though, he giggled and smiled as they danced over his skin. I can not
wait
until he is old enough for me to tell him about his house and teach him
our ways. ~
Erestor shuddered at the thought of all those butterflies crawling over
him, then opened his brothers journal to the same date...
Brothers Journal:
Today I am blessed...my dearest naneth finally delivered my new little
gwadar and they named him Erestor. Odd little thing he is...hair as
black as coal and he did not even fuss upon entering this world, he was
quiet and just...well, very quiet. Thalion is smitten and I can feel
already that we will both be very protective of him. Adar is a little
upset with me though, when looking upon my gwadar, I commented to my
beloved that I thought Erestor was definitely Not going to be a warrior
but an elf of great knowledge. This pleased my naneth, but it has been
several hours since my comment and I can still feel the daggers from my
adars eyes and I do not care. I hope my sweet Erestor, my precious new
gwadar becomes something other then a warrior...somehow, I do not think
that he would be happy as one. ~
Erestor put his brothers book aside, then grabbed his fathers again and
skimmed through the pages until he found his name and continued to
read...
Fathers Journal:
Erestor spoke his first word today. Nay, it was not Adar, or Nana, or
Eresorn...it was parma. I think my dear firstborn is right, I do not
believe that Erestor is going to be a worrier. Oddly enough, this puts
my heart at ease, scholars do not usually end up killed on a battle
field. ~
Erestor again, put the journal aside, then picked up his brothers and
skimmed for his name...
Brothers Journal:
I think adar is going to kill me. I gifted Erestor with his first
quill. It is just a beginners quill...mettle tip, strong wood for
accident prone elflings, and then I attached a feather to it that my
great grandfather said was from a bird that lived in the region that
Gondolin once stood. I then told him the story of the fall of Gondolin
and the brave Balrog Slayer. I am so very proud of Erestor...he has
already learned to write several words when others his age are still
playing with blocks...Ada, Nana, Eresorn, Thaly, Book, Quill, Scroll
and his name...he lights up when he learns and absorbs knowledge like a
freshly planted flower bed in its first rain...I think my beloved
Thalion picked out the perfect little endearment for him, he calls him
dolen-mir. ~
Erestor switched to his fathers and looked for the same date...
Fathers Journal:
The Valar help me I am going to kill my firstborn. He gifted Erestor,
who is normally quiet and proper, with a quill. He then told him the
tale of the fall of Gondolin. Right now my sweet little Erestor is
jumping about like a rabid fox yelling that He will save the great
slayer...I must admit though, he is adorable when he plays thusly. ~
Erestor quietly chuckled and arched his brow "A rabid fox?", then
skimmed through both books for their last entry's...
Fathers Journal:
Erestor is definitely an early bloomer, he learned to speak early, read
early, write early...and tonight, I found him laying in his bed,
flitting the feather part of his 'Glorfindel' across his chest and he
seemed rather flushed...he is still so very young that it surprises me
that he has discovered such pleasurable sensations...after all, he does
not even truly know my or his naneths names...we are still just Ada and
Nana in his mind. I think the day after tomorrow, I will take the
family on a picnic. I would have normally waited three more years, but
I believe Erestor is mentally old enough to grasp the concept of our
house and I am looking forward to teaching him about our abilities. ~
Brothers Journal:
Erestor followed me to the training grounds today. He is such a
resourceful elfling and so fair. He was picked on my some of my fellows
and...well, I think I will try and teach him to throw daggers, I feel
he would do well. Adar is taking us on a picnic to introduce Erestor to
the butterflies and teach him our ways. I am very excited and can not
wait to help teach him some things. Thalion unfortunately will be
unable to join us, he needs to study and I will miss sharing this day
with my beloved. ~
Erestor slowly turned the pages in each book and neither had a next
entry. The dark advisor sighed and lowered his head "The picnic".
Suddenly feeling quite lonely, Erestor cleaned up, locked the door to
his old chamber, and slowly made his way down the hall.
