Hopes and Dreams
The feast was a huge elaborate affair. The best foods, music, wine, and entertainment in all of Mirkwood was present. Denise and Heidi had decided to wait until after dinner to make the announcement. Elrond had agreed that a public announcement would kill two birds with one stone. This way they would not have to make a separate formal announcement. All of Mirkwood society was there and several guests from Imladris and Lothlorien. Denise and Heidi sat near the head of the high table next to their counterparts. Dinner was served and the talk began almost at once. After the dessert dishes had been cleared Denise looked at Heidi and they were suddenly scared. But Elrond did not give them time to re think their decision. Standhe ahe announced that the ladies had some news they wished to tell their husbands aniendiends. Blushing Heidi and Denise got up and went to stand next to Elrond. Celeborn and Legolas looked utterly confused and a hush fell over the crowd.
“I…we…ummm…” Heidi said as she looked at the ground.
Rolling her eyes Denise looked at the assembled masses and said. “We are both pregnant. Lord Elrond has long since confirmed our suspicions.”
Celeborn and Legolas looked utterly dumbstruck as everyone else began to offer their congratulations. Elrond and Thranduil struggled not to laugh at the looks on their faces. Haldir, Rumil and the twins were all whispering together about this. Celeborn stood and he took Heidi into his arms and kissed her. Smiling he drew back and looked deep into her eyes. Legolas also stood and kissed his wife but he was stunned. Unlike Celeborn he had never been a father before! Denise tled led in his arms and he attempted to comfort her. Thranduil immediately called for the music to start when it did everyone got up to dance. Celeborn swept Heidi off to start the dancing but Legolas and Denise quickly and quieexitexited the party.

They walked in the quiet, cool gardens neither one saying a word. They sat upon a stone bench and cuddled together.
“I am scared, I have never been a mother before.” Whispering Denise tried to hide her fears.
“I have never been a father before melamin. I think we will do just fine.” Murmuring he kissed the top of her head.
Denise smiled and nodded as she sighed. “Aye we will be fine.”
Laughing softly Legolas kissed Denise as they sat under the twinkling stars.

After a month in Mirkwood Celeborn had decided to return to Lorien. Heidi would have their child there and they had to go before she could no longer ride. They rose early and were in the courtyard next to the horses as Heidi and Denise said their goodbyes. Separating had never occurred to them and they c as as the embraced. Denise swore that when her child was born she would visit. Nodding Heidi mounted her horse and they left. No one noticed the dark clouds rolling in form the north. Which was the direction Celeborn’s party was traveling.
