Help arrives.

Haldir rode hard all through the night and by nightfall Lothlorien grew closer. He made camp a few scant meters away from the forest's edge. He knew the Lady could sense him and he wondered when someone would come for him. An hour passed and Haldir began to get tired, the days activities, stresses, and the ride wore him out. Suddenly he sensed a presencce grabbing his sword he made ready. A light silvery laughter sounded behind him turning he saw Menhel an old friend.

"Alwyas on your guard huh Haldir?" Menhel teased as he embraced his brother.

"Of course. Why are you here?" Haldir asked.

"Why are you? Does Gondor not need you anymore?" Menhel's expression grew serious.

"Legolas is ill I ride to Imladris to find Lord Elrond." Haldir could feel tears pricking at his eyes.

"Legolas ill? How?" Menhel manuvered his friend till they were sitting.

"I do not know but Estel thinks it is bad......" Haldir leaned against his brother for support.

"Come with me stay the night amonst family and friends not out here alone." Menhel pleaded.

Haldir nodded and stood between the two of them they broke the camp and started for the city. Upon arriving they saw Celeborn and Galadriel waiting for them. Silently his parents embraced him and offered their support. Menhel drug Haldir to his talan for a night of unintrrupted sleep. The next morning Haldir discovered that Menhel was going with him to Imladris,

"But why?" He asked confused.

"Becaut ist is dangerous to travel alone still." he reasoned so they set out.

They rode for three days and finaly they reached Imladris's borders. They were quickly interecepted by Elladan and Elrohir at the ford that marked their territory. They were polite but aloof as they led them to the gates. They had been this way at Arwen's wedding as well. Haldir got the feeling that they disapproved of his and Legolas's relationship with Estel. Haldir saw Lord Elrond standing at the gates waiting for his sons return.

"Lord Elrond I beg of you to help me." Haldor said as he knelt at Elrond's feet. He had never been one for formality and this startled all elves present.

Haldir found it difficult not to cry in front of these proud elves all he wanted to do was cry. Elrond pulled Haldir to his feet and embraced him.

"Haldir you are bonded to my son you are family now. I will help you in any way I can. Talk." He demanded gently.

"Legolas is ill. Estel suspects poision of some kind and the human healers cannot help him." Haldir said as a few tears fell down his face.

Elrond frowned and he ordered a stableboy to saddle several horses, and a maiden to get his healing things. They would travel alone as Menhel would ride home on the morrow. They traveled for two days before they saw the gates of Gondor looming closer. Haldir heard the trumpets announcing their arrival to all of Gondor.

"Welcome back Captain Haldir." The snetry said grimly.

"Thank you. How fares the Prince Legolas?" Haldir knew by now everyone in Gondor would know.

"King Elessar says he has slipped into a coma." the sentry reported in an offhanded manner.

Haldir gasped and spurred his horse on followed closely by Elrond. As they approached the castle they could see Arwen and Thranduil standing there looking relived.

"Father." Arwwen greeted him with a hug.

Thranduil simply inclined his head at Elrond before he turned and went inside. Elrond, Arwen, and Haldir followed the king to the royal chambers. Inside Aragorn sat rubbing cool water on Legolas's overheated brow and chest. He looked up when the door opened and smiled slightly. Elrond and Haldir could see the bags under Aragorn's eyes and the sad, haunted look in his eyes. He stood and made room for Elrond the examine Legolas. Haldir stepped up next to him and took the king into his arms. Aragorn clutched at him desperat for the contact. Thranduil and Rumil sat down on a out of the way couch as Arwen embraced Haldir and Aragorn. They waited for hours as Elrond examined Legolas. At long last he looked up a grim, frightened look upon his face.

"I do not know of this poision. I have never seen anything like this." Elrond said sadly.

They all gasped if Elrond didn't know of it it must be very old and very, very rare.

"Will he live?" Thranduil choked out and Rumil stroked his hand.

"I do not know. He is still weak from........I do not know." Elrond said sadly.
