Bittersweet moments were all he knew. Legolas had observed how
Aragorn now monopolize Arwen's time because of the kiss. It was the
kiss Legolas inspired that Aragorn had stumbled onto and now the
ranger had not let her from his sight.

That night he had watched their kiss and all the while his heart
ached. Instead of remaining there and reaping the reward he had leapt
away to keep Arwen from a difficult situation to strain her heart.

Longing for her wounded him more than any blade or arrow and he
wondered how much longer he could deny his heart. Honorable had it's
moments but did it when a elf had such an inkling. Legolas loved his
friend and he wished to know what would be become of his heart where
Arwen was concerned. Confused or in turmoil was not right and he made
his mind to up slowly.

The leaves fell around him and became caught up in an updraft which
swished the colorful foliage around him. His smile was contagious to
any that happened upon him but his spirit was not clear to all. Winds
carried the leaves gently away from him and followed them curiously
as he watched the hues of their red, yellow and orange coloring the
sky and objects they touched.

So carried away was he that he did not notice where he had been led
until he found the elleth sitting alone on the bench. Arwen sat there
with a thick book in her lap as she seemed engulfed in what it told
her. Legolas's heart leapt and he purposely made noise to alert her
somebody was near.

Arwen did not look up from her book but gave a small smile for a
moment, "so honorable that you think not to disturb me?" She looked
up finally as she placed a silken ribbon in between the pages. She
stood slowly to her full length as she unclenched muscles and
stretched slightly. "The leaves have brought you?"

Legolas moved closer, "you knew?" Had she sent a sign? He moved
forward slowly unsure of how to mention the moment they had. "Was it
the leaves or was it the calling of a heart?" He found she was moving
to him as well and his heart jumped at the thought of crushing her in
his arms.

Her delicate fingers lifted to his face and before he could draw her
near she took his hand. "I have brought something for you." Opening
his hand she placed the jeweled ornament in his hand then closed his
fingers around it.

Legolas looked to the decoration in his hand then turned it to look
at it closely, "was this crafted by your hand?" It was a mithril
filigree twisted around a blue stone but smaller in size only made it
seem to shine as the star in the sky.

"I made this trinket for you," She slipped her hand around his to
show the chain then she placed it around his neck. "We have been
friends a long time and in many ways I feel I hardly know you."

He looked at the charm that now hung on his neck, "is that why you
made this? What of Aragorn? He is a friend to me and your
betrothed....."

She looked away, "the night on the bridge..."

"Aye?"

"Why did you leave?"

Before he realized it, his hand had her face then the other joined
it, "had I not then we would have..... progressed our friendship." He
took a deep breath but he moved closer, "I was not sure it was
something you would wished or desired."

"It should have been my decision, Legolas," Her voice was almost curt
with him but she seemed anything but curt. "My heart....yearns for
much. I am Aragorn's betrothed and I have give up all I know for him.
The age of men is upon us and soon my family and friends will sail
but I will stay by Aragorn's side until mortal coil takes his body."

He looked to her hands, "why do you tell me this?"

For her answer she flew into his arms then let their lips touch very
gently, "because I am not certain of much concerning my heart. Estel
has grown with me but have we grown apart and keep appearance out of
obligation to Gondor and Rivendell?"

His fingertips brushed her lips sweetly, "for what you had?" Leggings
tightened and he let her go. "Arwen, if you do not leave
me............ then you shall be had." He cared not who saw them or
who where they were. Need for her had become so great that he ached
and it was all he could do to keep from ripping the gown from her
body to take her with wild abandon. She made it hard for him to be
honorable or do the right thing.

It was Arwen who moved, "perhaps, I need to be 'had' by you."

She moved to him as he did to her and their bodies collided with a
sweet moan from each mouth. It was her own accord that she touched
him and her hands were gliding across his torso. Finally she began to
pull at his clothing but she stopped for a moment to look in his
eyes, "where do we go from here?"

Legolas picked her up into his arms, "if I am your choice then we
will need to tell your father. My heart has chose you long ago but I
have been silent in respect for my friend." Spinning her gently, he
then placed her on her feet. "I will not take you here or until you
have told your father. I believe in some ceremony aside from a
heart's desire."

He noticed her eyes falter and she moved away slowly but did not
speak.

Legolas felt his heart constrict in his chest as if a vice had a hold
of it. He turned his head slightly to gaze into her wintry eyes, "Am
I your heart's desire?"

"I am not certain. My heart is divided." She put her hand on his
before he could walk away. "Every inch of me screams and yearns for
you but Estel has been .... if we do not marry then what of Gondor?"

Legolas remained calm and kept a face as blank as fresh
parchment, "they would care for themselves and you would sail with
your father, brothers," He turned her face seeing her confusion, "you
would sail with me." Exhaling he looked away, "I will not encourage
you if you are not completely sure. Hearts are not something to be
given lightly."

She was in his arms in a moment, "you have my heart. Do you not
understand? I am divided between honor, loyalty and my desire. My
heart has screamed for you since the first time I time I saw you but
I have lusted for Estel and we have always been secure in one
another. He needed me as he needed a queen." She let him go from the
gentle hug and folded her hands. "Would you be so bold in my place?"

He ran a hand down her dark locks with a nod, "a decision will need
to be made."

"Aye, it is why I chose to go to Rohan. I wish to see things in a new
light and hope to make sense of it all, of my heart," She spoke in a
hollow voice and then there was the sounding of the horn, the call.

They both looked to it but neither made motion to go. Legolas
searched her face for an answer, "I see love for him still..."

She nodded, "I do love him but I am not sure how I love him and how I
love you. There is a difference between loving one and being in
love." She touched his cheek with her palm and caressed it. "I can
safely say that I do love you."

Before Legolas could say more or move on her words there stood one of
the twins, "the horn, did you not hear it's call?" Elrohir touched
the bridge of his noise, a habit much like his father, as he
understood what he interrupted. "We need to depart." He watched
Legolas leave but his fingers lingered against Arwen's. Elrohir
waited until he was gone and ran down the stairs with his bow in hand.

He touched her shoulder, "second thoughts?" Eyes that held his
father's serious nature stared at her. She felt she just told thier
father and it was a step towards telling their father.

"Nay," she hugged her older brother, "it is just my confidence to
tell Legolas of my thoughts." She looked into eyes that mirrored her
own in color and confusion.

Elrohir held her tightly to him, "things will happen as they are
should." He put his chin on her head until the horn sounded
again, "come, we will need to make haste now."

Aragorn packed his horse as he noticed Legolas arriving but his
friend seemed to have a heavy heart. "I am certain Rohan is not in
dire straits." He clapped a hand on his shoulder, "I look forward to
being with you again." He gave him a genuine smile, "we may share
time together on the way down with Arwen."

Legolas nodded and tried to be as jovial as Aragorn felt but his mind
was pure turmoil. With a deep breath he spoke, "I have noticed that
you have grown close to Arwen and in plain view." He gave him a smile
finally but the smile did not reach his eyes.

Aragorn did not notice but continued, "I have asked her to marry me
when we returned from Rohan and she agreed." His entire face light up
when he spoke of it, "we want a child as soon as ..." He finally
noticed Legolas's far away look and followed it to Arwen.

"I am happy for you." Legolas said simply as he moved to the side of
the gates and where one of the few females that traveled with them, a
healer, Alasse. In a moment she was laughing and leaning close.

Arwen met Aragorn's side slowly and followed his stare to Legolas and
the elf that clung to him, "who is that?"

Aragorn gave a slight arc of his brow, "his conquest for the night?"

Legolas had left his friend unable to hear more of his tale and so he
began to pack Arod's saddle tightly. Still his actions did not go
unnoticed because an old friend was by his side, Alasse.

Alasse watched as the bow had slipped off of his saddle and picked it
up for him. As she placed it in his hand she noticed the intricate
details, "this is not a bow of Mirkwood. She was a healer of Mirkwood
and knew much about Mirkwood and Rivendell.

He smiled at her, "it was a gift from the Lady Galadriel during our
fellowship." He showed her the markings that identified it as a
Lorien bow. He noticed her slight blush as their fingers touched in
the passing of the bow.

In the haste of the others running past them, Arod moved from the
others but pushed the saddle and the elves spiraling to the ground.
Legolas would have caught them with ease but Arod had left them no
standing room and if they had tried they would have harmed the horse.
Both tumbled to the ground with a laugh as they were pinned to one
another, under a horse.

Legolas looked into her eyes and as if for the first time noticed
how lovely she was. Many times had he come to her from hunting with
small injuries or another elf in need of assistance but never had he
really noticed her. Vibrant blue eyes, hair the color of the wheat
that blew in the meadow's breeze and lips slightly parted.

His lips met hers and he was not even sure which it was that
initiated it. Passion unleashed and lust that had been bound began to
arise as his felt himself growing against her. He swore beneath his
breath that he had let Arwen let him become so aroused. Alasse did
not seem to complain.

Breaking a breathless kiss she finally gave him a brief smile, "would
you help me to gather the rest of herbs and bandages for the trip?"
Her eyes twinkled at the idea of speaking to him privately.

Legolas nodded dumbfounded and extended a hand to help her get to her
feet gently. He wrapped an arm around her waist and let his fingers
play along her abdomen. This time there was no worry of another or a
no because of honor and loyalty, there was no worry.

Arwen watched but her heart sank as she observed. She had known
Legolas was not one to sit idly by when it came to ellith but it made
her feel her heart was breaking. It should have been her pinned
beneath him and feeling his length against her or going off with him
for a stolen moment.

"It seems I was correct," Aragorn chuckled but his voice made her
jump as Arwen snapped from reverie. His hand wrapped around her
gently, "What is it?"

She gave him a brief smile for his benefit, "I was wondering if I had
forgotten anything,"

Aragorn looked to her saddle and the things she gathered, "if you
think you have then we should gather it before we depart."

Arwen agreed with a nod of her head and gave him a chaste kiss before
running off but her direction changed once she was out of the sight
Aragorn. Her heart pounded harder with each footstep as she wondered
which room Alasse had been given.

Alasse now walked hand in hand as she guided him slowly to the room
she had been given for the stay in Imladris. Laughter caught in her
throat as Legolas seemed to inch closer and closer approaching the
room.

"Did you truly come to help me gather things or have you come to
partake of my...hospitality?" She opened the door with a tiny smile
and lit the wall sconce but only one. She found the missing pack on
the bed and gave a relieved sigh, "I nearly forgot myself."

Legolas looked at the pack realizing she had only wanted to fetch her
things. "Very well. If that is all you need then we can start back."

She gave a nod, "I had thought there was something you needed here as
well." Alasse stepped closer and left no space between them, "was I
wrong?" She put the pack down on the table and then met his eye. "I
see your need, your want and if you do not sate yourself soon then
you may find yourself 'distracted' along this journey."

He nodded but he hardly heard her as he watched her lips moving. To
catch those lips when she was so near, it was tempting. Giving in, he
did just that and captured her mouth with his. He did not overwhelm
her by taking her mouth entirely, but the young prince kissed her
very tenderly. His tongue moved along the outside her lips but he
would not push to enter her mouth.

Alasse seemed to realize he would not presume but she would. The
elleth wrapped her hands around the collar of his tunic to pull him
closer until their mouths became one. She thrust her tongue in to
taste him and had him against the bed.

He panted attempting to get a hold of his emotions and his body. He
wrestled with want for Arwen and need to sate himself after waiting
for the Imladris beauty. The lady above him was genuine and alive, he
would not disappoint. One quick motion from Legolas, and a squeal
from her, he had her under him gently then rubbed his heated passion
against her leg.

Their mouths met again and they repeated the dance their tongues had
began earlier. Twisting and turning against one another. Their hands
began to pull at the soft material covering their bodies until their
upper torsos were bare.

His hands roamed her breasts and she gave a lusty moan, "Legolas...."
Still clothed but she rubbed her nether region to his and then she
cupped his shaft gently. "I know you do not wish to wait."

As her legs locked around his hips he took a deep breath trying to
calm himself from taking her to quickly. Too long had it been since
he had indulged in the flesh of another or gave them the same
pleasures. Still, he did not have the worry he made for himself.

Her fingers began to unlace his leggings with fevered motion. Alasse
moved her hands to cup his clothed erection with a stroking touch.
Writhing beneath him and she could take no more as she reached to
over his leggings. Her hand dove gently into them until her fingers
touched the tip of his member.

He could hardly believe his great fortune to find a beautiful female
as wanton as he felt. A loud gasp escaped female lips but it was not
Alasse's.

Both turned to see Arwen standing there with a stunned expression and
her mouth wide open, "I did not mean...." She looked back to the
door, "It was open and ..." She did not wait for another word and
turned on her heal to run away.
