Erestor stormed down the hall towards his rooms…again. He and Elrond had just finished their fourth fight in as many days. Each resulting with Erestor taking flight to his quarters. This time was different, however, as Elrond followed his advisor down the corridors while still continuing what was now a one-sided argument. Erestor opened the door to his rooms and tried to close them on his Lord, but Elrond got the upper hand and forced himself inside. The black-clad elf tried to ignore the Lord that was still talking to him by taking himself out to the balcony.

“Are you even listening to me?” Elrond huffed.

“Not in the least,” replied Erestor.

Elrond grabbed Erestor’s shoulders and pinned the smaller elf against the wall, forcing Erestor to look at him. Erestor did not fight to get away which was more a product of shock that his Lord would actually lay a hand to him than obedience.

“You WILL listen to me, Erestor!” Elrond thundered.

Erestor stood dumbstruck. Elrond had actually *yelled* at him. Elrond *never* yelled. At anyone. Ever.

He was in deep shit.

“Erestor, you need to stop this!”

Erestor was confused. “Stop ignoring you?”

“Stop…stop…ALL of this. The way you have become. You need to stop this NONSENSE before you do yourself harm.” Elrond released his grip and stood aside. “I can see the damage that you are doing yourself my friend. I am a healer, you know. All these years I have watched you slowly become tainted by what happened between you and Glorfindel. I cannot watch this any longer. Ever since I ordered you to dance at the Festival, the damage has become worse. I do not know if you have even noticed it, my friend, but you are fading.” Elrond looked at the hooded figure that stood silently against the wall. He put his hand back to Erestor’s shoulder and squeezed gently. “I will not sit by and watch one of my best-friends die because of an unrequited love that was never meant to be. You deserve more than this Erestor.”

“But I LOVE him, Elrond!!” Erestor burst out.

“So what. I feel as if it is time you got over this….childish obsession and got on with your life. You have mourned him for CENTURIES now. Don’t you think that’s long enough?”

Erestor shook his head. “I *know* we are meant to be together. He is my perfect mate. I just *know* it, Elrond.” Erestor sunk down to the ground and pulled his knees up.

Elrond sighed and sat down with his friend. He put an arm around the now trembling form. “Then wait for him Erestor, but do not punish yourself for his mistakes. This…cold elf you have become is not the Erestor I know. You are slowly killing yourself by locking yourself away from everyone. If you are meant to be, then he will take no other until the day he takes you. Until then I suggest you live like you should. I wish to see my friend happy.” Elrond hugged Erestor close, tucking the smaller elf’s head underneath his chin. “Please Erestor. This has got to change, or you will not live to see the day that Glorfindel realizes he loves you.”

Erestor let out a shaky sigh. “I will do my best, my friend.”

Elrond placed a chaste kiss to the top of the cowl-covered head. “I will be there for you. As I always have. As you have always been there for me.” Both immediately remembered the horrific period after the Lord’s mate Celebrian had left.

They sat in silence for some time. Each lost in their own thoughts and musings.

“Tomorrow is the first night of the Festival. Would you do the honor of accompanying me?” Elrond queried.

Elrond felt Erestor smile against his chest.

“I would be delighted to.”

----------------------------------------------------

Elrond appeared at Erestor’s door at the appointed time the next night. Opening the door, he sighed at what he saw inside.

“Do you still insist on wearing all that?” Elrond gestured to the immense robes and cowl that Erestor was dressed in. Elrond wore a simple, silver-grey wrap hung low around his hips. His chest and feet were bare, and his ankles were decorated in small, silver chains. His mithril circlet graced unbound and unadorned black hair that hung straight to his hips in a glimmering waterfall. He may have been dressed simply, but the air with which he carried himself set him apart as the Lord of Imladris.

“At least for now,” replied Erestor. “We’ll see how comfortable I feel later on tonight.”

Elrond smiled. This was an improvement. At least Erestor confessed to a least *thinking* about removing some of the concealing layers. “Alright, my friend. Let us join the festivities.”

In the courtyard of the Last Homely House stood several bonfires glowing in the last, fading light of the sun. All elves in the valley were gathered around the fires, waiting for the night to begin. Most were dressed as Elrond was, however there were the few that wore nothing at all. Elrond looked over the population of his realm. He smelled the arousal in the air, the need to mate. He felt a pang of longing for his wife, but the sting of losing her was not so great as it had been the year before, and he knew that he was healing.

“Tonight we start the celebration of Spring,” Elrond’s voice boomed out over the crowd. “Tonight we rejoice in the love of our mates, or we start the search for one with which to spend our immortal lives. Feast, dance and be merry, my friends. Tonight we celebrate love!”

The drums began, and dancers appeared around the bon-fires. The dances were primal, instinctual. The deep beat of the kettle drums vibrated through the audience in a primeval rhythm that appealed to the primitive side of every elf. Hips swayed, arms cut through the air. Hair flew, and backs arched.

“Elrond?” Erestor queried from Elrond’s side. “Would you excuse me for one moment? I will be back shortly.”

Elrond nodded his acquiescence, and he felt his advisor leave his side. Elrond lost himself in the movement of the dancers and the cadence of the drums, until he glimpsed a long-unseen figure making his way toward the bon-fires.

Hair that could only be deemed "sex-hair" for its wild, wavy nature curled down to the figure’s buttocks. The blackness of it astounded the eye, and it caught the light of the flames, casting fiery red highlights to one who looked upon it. Lightly tanned skin made the being all the more exotic for being next to his pale skinned cousins, and reminded one of a rich mocha. Good enough to eat. Slanted eyes the color of rich earth were framed in a delicate, sweet face. Muscles of a warrior rippled in the fire-light.

The figure was garbed in a traditionally. Two panels of cloth hung in the front and back, tied at the side of his waist over a tightly fitted loin-cloth (think Speedo here people). The blood red cloth seemed made of water as it flowed around his legs.

All in attendance stopped to stare at the figure as he walked past them. Many giving a low purr in his direction, and many a hand grabbed his tight, pert ass solicitously.

As he walked, he began to dance. His graceful, sensual movements made the other dancers seem like fumbling adolescents in comparison. His hair flew around him like a living entity. Eventually, even the other dancers stopped in order to watch the lithesome elf writhe around the bon-fire.

Elrond smiled. This was more like it.

The elf dancing around the fire eventually came to halt in front of his Lord and bowed deeply, and the drumming stopped. Elrond moved forward to embrace him.

“I’m glad your back, Erestor,” he said loud enough for all to hear. Many murmurs raced through the crowd upon hearing the identity of the delectable dancer.

Erestor guided Elrond to sit on the crude, roughly hewn stone chair that acted as Elrond’s “throne” during the Festival. Once the peredhil was seated, Erestor began to dance again. The minstrels, seeing this, began the drumming anew. This dance became even more sensual, exotic, and erotic than the one before. Erestor danced for his Lord and friend seated in front of him. Suddenly, Erestor spun, and landed on his knees in front of Elrond. He tilted his head back, arching, exposing his body for anyone to behold. He leaned forward again, and crawled into Elrond’s lap, straddling him. Erestor put his hands on the back of the throne, and proceeded to dance on Elrond’s lap. The peredhil moaned, already half hard, and watching the impassioned dancing of the elf on his lap he came to full mast. Erestor ground down on the hardness below him, causing Elrond to moan loudly. It had been so long since he had received a touch of this nature, and his body was rapidly coming to its conclusion. “Erestor,” Elrond said in a half-choke, half-whisper.

“Shhhh,” Erestor whispered in his ear. Then he took the tip of the pointed ear in his mouth. Elrond screamed and bucked up as Erestor pushed down on the clothed erection beneath him.

“Erestor…Erestor…Ohhh…” was all Elrond could manage.

Erestor smiled around the ear tip in his mouth, and decided it was time to finish what he had started. He ground down hard once again, and let a loud, rumbling purr escape his lips to vibrate around Elrond’s ear. Elrond screamed again as he came. Erestor held his Lord as he trembled in the aftermath of his release. The advisor heard many others around them moan as they found their own completion.

The drums rumbled to a halt, then picked up a new beat. The elves in the courtyard began to dance anew, this time with everyone joining.

Elrond had his head burrowed into Erestor’s chest, as the darker elf still straddled his legs.

“May I ask what this was in honor of?” Elrond asked in a breathless whisper.

“To say thanks. For being my friend,” Erestor replied.

“You should say thank you more often.”

Erestor chuckled.

In a corner of courtyard, a silent, golden figure watched the festivities with a look of sorrow etched upon his face. He was a fool. He had been all along. And now he had lost his dark little advisor to the Lord of the valley. It would not be long before they would choose each other as mates, Glorfindel was sure. He knew they had not mated…yet anyway. He could see it in their eyes. But he was sure it would not be long until that time. He would have to move fast if he was to correct his mistakes.
