The "Good" Ending

He couldn’t stop himself. He took in the look of Erestor, naked before him and staring up into his eyes, fear showing perfectly in his delicate features.

After a moment, Glorfindel put his knee on the bed next to Erestor and pushed him down onto the soft mattress. Erestor did not protest; he was too unsure of what was happening. As he watched Glorfindel remove his clothes he couldn’t help but think that this was not something he had ever imagined from his friend. All the time they’d spent together, whether they were just talking or drinking while playing silly games, the walks through the garden, Glorfindel pretending to be interested as Erestor explained whatever book he was reading. No, this wasn’t him, this wasn’t the friend he so cherished and had fallen in love with.

This elf straddling his naked form was someone else, someone he didn’t know.

Glorfindel kneeled on the bed over Erestor and looked down at his face in time to see a tear roll down his cheek. He leaned down and licked it off of his face before kissing him again, deeply and roughly. He heard Erestor whimper into his mouth and could feel his body trying to wriggle free under his weight.

He released his lips from the kiss and stood up. Looking down at the form of his friend, eyes wide and frightened, body trembling, he suddenly realized what he was doing. He leaned down and took Erestor’s shoulders. Pulling him to sit up, Glorfindel kneeled before him. He reached and touched his cheek, feeling him flinch at his touch.

“Erestor… I… I don’t know what I am doing.”

Erestor looked at him in shock. Glorfindel’s eyes welled with tears and he looked up at him. Neither one could force a word out.

Glorfindel cupped Erestor’s face in his hand and finally forced words. “I love you, Erestor. I am so angry with you for hiding yourself from me, but… but this is not the answer.”

Erestor pulled from his grip and pushed around him. He walked across the room and grabbed a robe hanging from a hook on the wall and covered himself. Turning back to the bed, he looked at Glorfindel again, who had not moved from his position and was not even watching him anymore. “Glorfindel.”

He looked up from the floor and made eye contact with the raven haired beauty standing across the room from him. He stood as Erestor walked towards him slowly. “This part of you scares me, my friend.”

Glorfindel reached out and took Erestor into his arms. “Not friend. I want to be your love, Erestor! This part of me scares me, too, but I will never hurt you! Never! I would rather take my own life than harm you in any way. Please, Erestor.” He fell to his knees before him, placing his hands on Erestor’s hips and looking up into his dark, fearless eyes. “Forgive me.”

Erestor held his robes closed and looked down at the elf at his feet. As much as he wanted to hate him for what he had attempted to do, he could not bring himself to feel it. This was the elf he loved, and it was an emotion he could not fight back. Reaching down, he lightly stroked the golden hair of his love. Erestor dropped down to his knees so they were eye level with each other.

“You have hurt me,” he said.

“Erestor, I will never…”

“But I cannot help but love you.”

Glorfindel stared in confusion. He couldn’t believe he was so willing to forgive him when he himself thought he deserved nothing less than to be beaten to a pulp and kicked from Imladris.

“Glorfindel,” Erestor continued. “I have loved you from the moment we met, but you did not see it. I hid what I am from you because I was willing to change myself if it meant keeping you forever. Oh, my love, I would never take another lover if I had you in my bed every night. It would be like paradise, and no other would be satisfying to me.”

Erestor leaned in and took Glorfindel’s mouth in a gentle kiss. He felt the tension leave his love’s body as Glorfindel melted into his kiss. Their lips parted and he leaned away, smiling at Glorfindel still leaning forward, eyes closed, a slight smile coming to his lips.

He giggled and Glorfindel opened his eyes to look at him. Smiling wider, he reached out and hugged Erestor tight before lavishing kisses all over his face. Erestor started to outright laugh at the gesture.

“I will make this up to you, my love,” Glorfindel said between kisses and laughs. “I will never harm you or allow anyone else to harm you. I will worship you as my king.”

Erestor pushed him back. “Not your king, my heart. Just love me.”
