Pairing: Legolas/Orophin/Rumil, Legolas/Haldir
Summary: Legolas wants haldir, but Haldir will not have him. Or will he?
Chapter 3
As they walked the stairway leading to the talan, Legolas suddenly remembered Rúmil, and hoped that he had decided to lay himself to sleep. Tonight, Orophin would be Haldir and Rúmil’s presence would be an unwelcome one.
To his dismay, Rúmil had not gone to bed. However, the guardian did not acknowledge their entrance, seemingly lost in his thoughts. Orophin opened his mouth to speak, but Legolas silenced him with a rough kiss and dragged him to his bedroom lest he offer his brother an invitation.
Shortly after placing his skyclad lover on his bed-- as he ravaged his entire body with savage kisses-- Legolas heard the angry slamming of a door. The sound made Orophin tense, but it did not take Legolas long to soothe him and make him forget its source.
Now that he knew he would have Orophin to himself, Legolas slowed his pace. *Haldir* he whispered in his mind as he gazed upon his ash blonde lover. He poured his heart into every touch, observing the response it evoked; he wondered if Haldir would react similarly. Would he open his mouth as if to moan, but not make a sound? Would he be driven insane by the feel of teeth gently tugging his nipple? Would he clench his hands only for a second at the very height of his climax?
“Melin chen,” Orophin whispered as he lay shuddering beneath Legolas. He gazed up at his lover in wonder— obviously he had never been touched with such love as Legolas had just displayed.
“I love you too,” the prince answered. Inwardly, he vituperated himself for misleading his young lover. It was clear that Orophin had just made love for the first time, despite so many nights of casual sex—yet it was not him Legolas had made love to. But the prince knew he needed a way to sate his pining for Haldir while he could not have him. Though with a heavy heart, he decided that the desperate measure he was resorting to was necessary and would be worth its price.

“Legolas!”
The sound of his name and a hand shaking his shoulder woke Legolas from a pleasant dream. “Orophin,” he said in dismay, remembering the truth as he looked into eyes that were slightly too bluish in hue. “’Tis early…”
“Rúmil has not returned,” said Orophin. “He must still be upset about last night. I worry…”
Legolas slid his hand up Orophin’s sculpted arm. “Have no fear, melethen. ‘Tis only natural for him to be upset when he discovers that we wish to be exclusive. It will be painful, but his heart will heal with time.”
Orophin turned to the prince with disbelieving eyes. “Are you saying you want to…”
“Aye,” said Legolas. “What do you say?”
Orophin took Legolas’ hand in both of his own. “I can hardly believe this is true, but aye, I do wish it.” He leaned over and placed a soft kiss upon Legolas’ lips. The prince could feel the joy welling up inside Orophin, making the Elf taste even sweeter than the night before.
“We should tell Rumil,” Orophin said, breaking the kiss.
Legolas shook his head. “No. It would be too painful for him now. Let him find out on his own.”
“I do not understand your logic,” said Orophin, “but then I have always been too straightforward. I wonder, what will we do if he wishes to join us in bed?”
“I do not think we need to worry about that. He is not far from discovering the truth, I wager.”
Orophin sighed, rubbing his forehead. “I do not wish to see him hurt.”
Legolas brushed his cheek with the back of his hand. “I hope he will not think much of it.”

It was a stunning sight. His golden hair lay sprawled around him, his silk tunic accented by white night-blossoms; Ithil’s light gave the scene an ethereal aura. Rúmil stood awed by the prince’s beauty, and hesitated. Considering Legolas’ attitude towards him the last week, his intrusion upon the prince’s privacy would not be welcome.
Rúmil remembered a night long ago when they had spent an unforgettable night in that very glade, surrounded by those vanilla-scented flowers. What had caused the sudden change? At first, he believed it had been spurred by Haldir kiss the night Legolas had arrived from Mirkwood. But that did not explain why the prince now saved all of his attention for Orophin— not unless Legolas was using his brother, but Rúmil did not believe the prince to be capable of doing something so callous.
“Did you forget why you came?” Legolas asked, smiling as he raised himself on one elbow.
“No,” Rúmil’s voice carried more of a tremor in it than he would have liked. “I was just admiring…”
“Come lie with me.”
“And if my brother were to come here will you tell me to leave?” Rúmil asked as he sat down next to the prince.
“Nay I would not.”
Rúmil looked at him askance; Legolas gave in. “Well, maybe I would.”
“Do you love him?” The guardian asked.
“Aye.”
Rúmil could feel the tears gathering in his eyes, threatening to spill. He wanted to be happy for his brother, but he could not suppress his sorrow. His voice trembled as he asked, “Why him? Why not me?”
“I do not know.” Legolas sounded surprised that such thoughts had even crossed Rúmil’s mind, that he wanted there to be more to their relationship. “I cannot control what is in my heart.”
“Or is it because he looks like Haldir, while I do not?” The guardian’s tone was bitter as he voiced, out of sadness, the question he would rather have kept to himself. He angrily brushed Legolas’ hand off of his shoulder. “I pray that your motives are pure, Legolas of Mirkwood.” With that, he turned and ran off to his talan.
