Frozen in Time (A Collection of Drabbles)
Too Big
Too Big
“It won’t fit, ‘Las.”
“Aye, of course it will Rú! Haldir’s is much bigger, and it fits, does it not?”
“Only because he cares not what damage he causes. Tearing and scraping...”
Legolas sighed, rubbing one hand over his face. “Maybe if we turn around there will be more room to maneuver. We had no problem in Mirkwood.”
Rúmil stretched his cramped muscles, running impatient fingers through tousled silver tresses. “We will try one more time, but if we are unsuccessful, I insist we rest a bit.”
“Very well,” Legolas agreed. “Are you ready?”
“Aye,” Rúmil replied with a sigh, flexing his legs testingly. “Now!”
The silence was broken only by grunts and groans as both elves strained valiantly. But their efforts were once more in vain.
“Enough!” Rúmil gasped, his face flushed with exertion. “I have had enough.”
Legolas nodded in defeat. “I surrender as well.” Dropping to the floor, he stretched out disconsolately. “There is simply no way our bedstead will fit in this talan.”
