Chapter 3

Thank you for the reviews and to the girls who've been on my site, I appreciate it!

Chapter 3

The day after, Alex was doing her job, sitting in a corner of a wide room, a big block notes in one hand and a pencil in the other, sketching her ideas of how it would eventually be in this living room.
She hadn’t seen Abigail that morning, and maybe it was better, for she was still mad at her.
How she dared to make those faces?
And Sean…
Sean was hers, she knew that.
Alex also knew that she couldn’t bear another situation like that, but her mind was running faster, showing images of her with Sean.
Their noises while they were making love the night before were clear to her, and hurt her, even if she shouldn’t be hurt.
Sean was staring at her back from quite some time, leaning against the doorframe and sipping his coffee.
"Mornin'." he said suddenly, smiling when she turned to look at him. "Want some coffee?"
“No, thank you.” she just murmured, averting her gaze and turning again hetenttention to the notes.
He frowned, still staring at her back. Then he abandoned his mug on a nearby box, and approached Alex to sit on the ground in front of her.
"What's wrong?"
“Nothing…” she answered, without looking at him.
“I’m drawing some ideas for this room. You and Abigail should look at them and if you’ll like them, I’ll pass to another room.”
"I'll decide." Sean replied, while studying her face attentively. He sighed, wondering why she even refused to look into his eyes, wondering once again what was wrong.
"Let me see." he said gently then, extending his hand towards Alex.
“Here.” she murmured, giving him the block, while distractedly playing with her pencil, sighing.
A few moments later Sean gave her the notebook back, saying nothing. In that moment, the house was the last of his worries. The only thing he cared about was understanding why Alex seemed to be angry with him, not an easy task at all since she was still carefully avoiding meg hig his eyes and was strangely silent.
"Alex." he said softly, lifting her head by gently placing his thumb under her chin, and then staring steadily at her. "I need to know what's wrong."
“There’s nothing wrong, Sean.” she stubbornly answered.
“You shouldn’t be here. Abigail would be mad if she would see us like this.”
"Screw Abigail!" he blurted out. "I'm not talkin' about her, I'm talkin' about you. And I know that somethin not not right, I can see it. Issomesomething I've said or done?"
Yeah, you make me feel sick when you’re with her.
You fucked her all night long and now you ask me why I’m upset.
She would have screamed those words to him, but she couldn't do it.
“No, you did nothing wrong.” she answered, smiling softly.
“Did you like the Italian food yesterday?”
"Of course I did." he nodded, flashing her one of his typical crooked smiles. "I'm just sorry that she ruined our dinner. It would have been perfect, otherwise."
“Yeah. It would have been…” she agreed.
And I think it would be more than perfect between you and me.
If only things were different…
None of them spoke for a while, and Sean soon discovered that in fact no words were needed. There was some sort of strange connection between the two of them, while they just sat quietly on the ground, glancing at each other now and then. Some sort of silent understanding. He eventually leaned towards Alex, sensing the tension, and hinted a nervous smile. "This is gettin' dangerous." he chuckled, and slowly rose to look at her from above, extending his hand to help her getting on her feet. "We should get a move on."
“Yeah.” she answered quietly, standing up, not noticing that he hadn’t let go of her hand.
“What should we do now?”
Something like kiss each other breathless would do, Sean thought. And then...and then...He imagined Alex lying on the floor, head thrown back and eyes shut, writhing helplessly beneath him. He censored those thoughts at once, alarmed by the familiar, tingling heat on his lower belly, and abruptly let go of her hand, averting his gaze. He was quite sure that she had already noticed the lust in his eyes; there was no use in making things worse.
"We could..." Sean began, pausing to recollect his thoughts. "Well, there are two rooms that still need to be painted upstairs. I think I'll take care of that."
When the girl noticed the evident lust in his eyes, she blushed immediately, clearing her throat.
Every touch seemed to set her on fire, and images of them entangled and panting flooded into her mind.
“Were you thinking to paint those rooms…alone? If you don’t want to call painters, I could help you. It’ll be fun!”
And that way, she could have the possibility to search this damned diary and get out of this house, miles away from Sean.
This man meant tre. Ae. A lot of trouble.
"All right." he nodded, forcing a strained smile as they climbed up the stairs. Why was he feeling so upset?
"I think you'd better change your clothes, it could be messy." he said then, heading to his bedroom. "I'll be back in a minute."
Alex, for her part, put on a pair of old blue jeans and a large shirt, adjusting her hair in a ponytail and waiting patiently for Sean to dress up.
It didn't take long. He walked out of his room just moments later, wearing a pair of torn jeans and a black t-shirt, with the word 'blade' printed in white on the front and faded almost completely. When they reached one of the rooms, he opened the windows, and then kneeled to bustle around with a couple of buckets before handing Alex a brush, keeping another for himself.
"All right. What side of the room do you want?"
“I’ll start there.” she smiled, walking to the left side of the room.
"As you wish, ma'am." he smiled back, carrying to her one of the stepladdend snd setting it in place before walking to his side of the room.
Just then he noticed a small stereo lying in a corner of the room, evidently abandoned there by the workmen that were taking care of the roof and other ordinary maintenance business. "What about some music?"
“It’d be wonderful!” she smiled, starting to paint the wall, giving her back to the man.
"Okay...let's see." he mumbled, sitting on the ground with the small device on his lap, trying to figure out how the hell to switch it on. He raised his head to look at Alex and couldn't help but nod in appreciation, a wry smile curving his lips and an eyebrow dangerously raised. From down here, one could enjoy a remarkable view indeed.
He turned his attentions back to the devilish gadget, only to find that the on button didn't work at all.
"Well, yeah. It'd be wonderful, indeed," he growled. "If I could only make the damn thing work."
Struck by a sudden and quite ingenious intuition, Sean's gaze then slowly followed the cable. Unplugged.
"Whoops." he chuckled, crawling to reach the wall and plug in the stereo. "All your fault. You confuse me."
“Yeah?” she chuckled back, raising an eyebrow and turning to look at him, with the brush still in her hand.
“You know? You’re far too…clean…”
And with that she put her finger, dirty with the paint, on his nose, with a grin on her face.
“See? Now you’re very, very nice…”
"Oh, am I?" Sean grinned, climbing up Alex's stepladder in a menacing way, while wiping his nose clean on his t-shirt.
"You shouldn't challenge me, milady..." he murmured seductively, his tone purposefully low and sexy, once close enough to almost touch her body with his. Then he took advantage of her momentary distraction to swiftly seize the brush from her hand, chuckling.
"At least, not when I'm armed. I have a brush here, and I'm not afraid to use it." With that he slowly touched the tip of the brush with a finger, all the while looking into her eyes and wriggling his eyebrows with an almost devilish grin on his face. Before she could have any chance to react, he traced a moist, sticky path of paint on her cheek, jumping off the stepladder a moment later to escape her revenge.
“Sean!” she yelled at him, running fast to catch him up, but they both fell on the ground, dirty with the paint and laughing.
Some moments later, Alex was up on Sean, the brush in her hand, moistening her lips in a seductive way.
“I can be dangerous, too...” she murmured, tracing a path on his neck with the brush.
"Oh my, oh my! I'm trapped!" Sean laughed, waggling playfully beneath her. "Somebody help me!"
Seeing that she wouldn't take pity on him anyway, he changed tactics, and stilled completely at once. Then he looked deeply into her eyes for some moments, raising his head to get closer to Alex'. "You should lick me clean now..." he whispered, verivering the low and seductive tone. "Or at least kiss me."
Alex looked blankly at him for a moment, not knowing what to do.
Was he joking?
But when she felt the hard bulge pressing on her belly, her eyes went wide, as she realized with horror that she wanted him, too. Desperately.
Slowly, oh, so slowly, she brushed her lips on his, never breaking eye contacnd tnd then she started to stand up, knowing all too well that it wasn’t a good idea. At all.
Sean managed to regain his composure only after some silent, awkward moments. "Alex, I...this is gettin' out of hand..." he mumbled, sighing, without being able to find the courage to look at her. "I’m sorry."
“Don’t be,” she answered back, turning quickly to resume her painting, without looking at him.
“You shouldn’t think about me. You are supposed to think just to your happiness with Abigail.”
Happiness, Sean mentally repeated to himself. In that moment, he was more than sure that he'd never known the true, exact meaning of that word before he met Alex. And now she was suggesting him to think about something like happiness with Abigail. Funny.
"Perhaps you're right." Sean murmured then, standing. He was feeling dizzy. "Let's go back to work."
Threatening the tears, Alex didn’t dare to look back at him, and she just nodded, putting all of her efforts into painting that damned wall.

"I'm leavin' tomorrow."
Sean instantly stopped chewing, and looked at his girlfriend. "Tomorrow?" he asked, "I thought you were leaving in a week. What's the rush?"
"They need me much more than you need me, it seems." Abigail replied coldly, without even looking at him. "So I'm goin' ahead of time."
Sean said nothing, trying to digest the news and his food, and casually flashed a quick glance at Alex. Suddenly, he was struggling to hold back a smile. It always happened to him, when he looked at that peculiar girl.
Later that night, he and Abigail had quite a bad fight, in Sean's room. So bad that he eventually took his pillow and moved downstairs, to sleep on the sofa, cursing the day they'd met.
When she woke up, Alex had a quick shower and put on a pair of pants and a simple shirt, walking to the kitchen.
But she almost screamed, suddenly afraid from a figure that emerged from the couch.
“Sean! You scared me to death…what the hell are you doing down here?”
He growled something unintelligible in response, before slumping down on the couch again and unceremoniously scratching his head.
"My back hurts." he complained, sighing. "And I'm indeed glad she's leaving."
“Did you sleep there?” she suddenly asked, worried.
“Oh, shit...Sean...I’m sorry...I’ve got some massage oil for your back, and I could cook you something if you’re hungry…”
"I'm not hungry...just pissed off. And quite badly."
Just then Abigail appeared from the stairs, carrying a couple of seemingly heavy bags.
"I'm leavin'."
"Yeah, I can see that." Sean retorted, shifting to sit on the couch arossrossing his arms across the chest in a resentful manner, without looking at her.
"C'mon, Beanie. Help me with these bags and kiss me goodbye."
"Not plannin' to."
"Great." Abigail snorted, setting down the bags and glancing at an utterly offended Sean. "I'll kiss you myself then." With that, she stalked decidedly towards the couch, stopping right in front of him. "Can I?" she asked then, her voice softening while she stroked his tousled hair in an almost motherly way.
"No."
"Please?"
"I said no."
"Please..." she purred then, kneeling in front of him and caressing his thighs, while Sean merely rolled his eyes in response at such gesture.
"Yeah, all right." he sighed, leaning forward to place just a quick peck on her lips, before standing to walk towards the kitchen.
Alex looked at the scene with an almost disgusted expression on her face, but suddenly she turned away, taking her milk mug and slowly walking away.
She wondered for a while, thinking that all men were asses, and that they think with what they have in their pants, and not with their brain.
In the meantime, Sean was watching Abigail drive away from behind a window, while sipping his tea, and when Alex entered the kitchen he turned to look at her, smiling faintly. "Hey," he said softly. "Any plans for today?"
“I’ve got a lot of work to do.” she answered, washing her mug.
“I’m happy that everything is solved between you two.”
And with that, she exited the room.
"Solved?" he repeated, following her. "What the hell do you mean 'solved'? I'd kill her with my own hands if I only could! I couldn't wait for her to leave!"
“Yeah, sure.” she muttered. “You men are all the same...total asses! So…stupid, ‘cause you think with your dick and not your brain!”
Shit. She had told him.
She couldn’t believe what she had said to him.
Trying to get rid of Sean, Alex just went back to her room, locking the door behind her.
“I want to go home.” she told to the empty room, sitting on the bed, her head in her hands, sighing deeply.
Sean spent the whole day out. When he returned home, he slumped on the couch, without even taking off his jacket, and just stared at the ceiling for quite ile.ile. It was almost dinnertime, but he wasn't hungry. He wondered if she was still mad at him. The thought had pursued him all day, relentlessly, and he was almost frightened of seeing her again. Of all things, one he just couldn't deal with was the thought of driving Alex away from him. Just when things seemed to be getting along quite well between the two of them…
“I did a lot of drawings of the other rooms,” she stated, observing him lying on the couch. “We’ve almost finished our work inside here. Then we can think about the garden...”
Walking towards him, she let her eyes wander all over his body, sucking in a sharp breath.
“I’m sorry.” she told him in an unsteady voice.
"About what?" Sean asked softly, turning to look at her, but still he didn't move. "You shouldn't be, Alex. You did nothing wrong."
“I’m just sorry.” she whispered, turning away and going into the kitchen.
“Italian food?” she asked then, smiling and glancing at him from her shoulder.
"Definitely."
Once in the kitchen, he surveyed attentively the cooking process, offering his help and asking questions now and then.
"Shall I lay the table, honey?" he asked suddenly, chuckling, aware that their dinner would be ready shortly. "Let me do something!"
“Ok, sweetheart.” she smiled, liking the way he was looking at her.
This would be their second dinner alone.
From that first night, Abigail never let them stay together, and she wanted it to be special.
Sean carried everything to the dining room, trotting between the two rooms. When he was finished, he even placed a candelabrum in the middle of the table and lighted a blue, deliciously scented candle before returning to the kitchen to help Alex with the food.
When Alex carried the pasta she she looked at how romantic he had been and smiled.
”There was no need to…do that.” she told him softly, sitting in front of him.
"I wanted to." Sean replied, looking deeply into Alex' eyes and reaching to caress her hand over the table. Then he took her plate, smiling, and tried to chivalrously serve her some pasta, paying attention not to make a mess all over the tablecloth because of the spaghetti. He just couldn't deal with 'em. They always kept on slipping away, spattering sauce everywhere, no matter how hard he tried. That time, though, he somehow managed to serve her without any damage to said tablecloth or to their clothing.
"There." he smiled triumphantly, handing her the plate. "Enjoy your meal, honey."
“Thank you.” she smiled back, looking intently into his eyes.
It was not right. At all.
She was feeling something deep inside of her towards Sean.
But she was lying to him, she wasn’t an interior decorator, she was there just to find that damned diary, a piece of her past, and come back home.
And he had to deal with his love story with Abigail. She had no right to stay betwthemthem, no matter what she felt towards him.
After dinner, they cleared the table and put everything in the dishwasher together, all the while talking and joking in a quite pleasant way. Like a real couple. After that, Sean settled on the couch to watch some TV, smiling helplessly when he heard her approaching.
"Hey." he said, shifting to make some room for her. "Come here."
Smiling, she sat on the couch, looking at the TV.
“What do we watch?”
"You choose." Sean smiled, handing her the remote control. "May I have a cuddle in the meantime?" he chuckled then, lying down on the couch and resting his head on Alex' lap, all the while looking at her from down there and holding her free hand into his.
Staring blankly at him, she caressed his hand with her thumb, without even noticing, her eyes never leaving his.
It was too beautiful to be true.
Then she smiled, putting down the remote control and gently brushing her fingertips on his cheek.
Sean almost purred at the contact, leaning instinctively into Alex' touch and closing his eyes.
"That's it.” he murmured, a small smile curving his lips. "I promise I'll cuddle you in return later...just don't stop."
The magic was broken when suddenly the television volume rose a little, and Sharpe’s series began.
Alex watched intensely at those images, all the while looking at Sean and Abigail together, and she felt an aching pain inside at that sight.
Sensing all too well her discomfort, Sean suddenly stretched out to reach for the remote control, and turned the TV off. Then he rose up to sit next to Alex, and for some moments he did nothing but stare attentively at her. He didn't know how that had happened, but then his lips were pressing onto hers, his fingers tangled in helky lky hair. He gasped when Alex' lips parted slightly to grant him access, and it felt like the most right thing in the world when their tongues met to sensuously taste and caress each other.
Within some moments, Alex had lost every coherent thought in her head, and was merely concentrated on their entwined tongues, while caressing his back and hair, eyes closed in passion.
They parted only minutes later, both panting and flustered because of that kiss. Sean recovered quickly, though, and put both hands on her shoulders, sliding underneath the light fabric of her shirt to lingeringly caress her skin. She felt so soft and warm, so feminine that Sean couldn't suppress a soft sigh, while he ducked his head to slowly trace a path from her neck to her ear with the tip of his tongue, delighting in the luscious scent and in the salty taste of her skin.
At that contact, she couldn’t help but moan in response, clutching his head with her arms, and pulling him even closer.
He felt wonderful, their bodies fit perfectly and his hands knew exactly where to touch and tease.
Suddenly Sean withdrew, and without a word he hurriedly yanked Alex' shirt off and tossed it to the side, all the while staring steadily at her. Then he claimed her mouth again for a heated kiss, while caressing her shoulder blades and further down, fumbling to remove her bra with trembling hands.
He could already sense the heat pooling low in his belly, the familiar burn of lust. But it wasn't a matter of mere desire, not that time. Hntednted her wholly. He wanted, needed anything she would be willing to give him.
Smiling, she helped him to remove her bra, and blushed a little when she saw the evident look of lust on his face.
So she sat on his legs, tugging at his shirt, all the while kissing and gently nipping at his neck, lapping at the tender skin.
When his shirt was removed, Sean dragged her closer until she was sitting on his lap, longing to feel her body against his. He couldn't help but moan as their groins touched, his over-sensitized skin rubbing against the soft cotton of the boxers. He instinctively grasped her buttocks to prevent her from drawing back, craving for more of that wonderful friction, and closed his eyes in sheer delight as his head fell back.
Seeing what effect she was having on him excited Alex even more, and she started rubbing herself against his groin, the crouch of her jeans soaked with her juices that flooded copiously from her aching center.
Still clutching her tight, Sean did his best to match her rhythm, whispering her name now and then, until he felt he couldn't take no more. He stopped her abruptly, shuddering helplessly and panting with unrestrained lust, and looked right into her eyes.
"Undress yourself."
Standing up, she noticed how her legs felt weak, but she managed to slowly remove her jeans and panties, kicking them away, knowing that Sean’s eyes were glued to her every move.
Then shelt elt and started to open his zipper, removing his clothes and freeing his erection to stand upright and proud.
Sean's eyes were fixed steadily into hers and he was still panting, his abdominal muscles slightly trembling due to the almost unbearable tension. He extended a hand to caress Alex's hair and then her cheek, asking nothing, before tracing a path to her mouth with his thumb. He caressed her lower lip for a while, and found himself brushing his tongue over his own lips as he slowly slipped the digit into the welcoming warmth of Alex' mouth.
From her part, the girl started to suck at his finger, looking intently into his eyes before removing it from her mouth and replacing it with his penis, stopping only when she felt it was all the way inside.
Then she started to suck on it, her tongue gently caressing it.
His hands instantly twined in Alex' hair in response, and his hips lifted off the couch as he felt himself completely taken in by her mouth. At that point, Sean's head was spinning so fast that he couldn't keep his eyes open, and a strangled moan escaped his lips before he could even think about holding it back. The only thing his mind was still able to focus on was Alex. Her oh-so-skilled mouth, her hands on his thighs, her nails grazing at the heated skin andwingwing invisible patterns of searing white.
When she felt his balls contracting, Alex lifted his head to look at his eyes, slowing her pace, as if asking to know what was he planning to do.
"Stop." he managed to pant, untangling his hands from Alex's hair to slide them down and gently cup her face, urging her to withdraw. He shifted to allow her room to lie on the couch, and even before she could have any chance to adjust, he was climbing up on top of her, claiming her mouth in a bruising kiss.
Now dizzy with desire, Alex slid her long legs around his waist, responding eagerly to his kiss, her hands entwined in his soft, blond hair.
They eventually parted, only for lack of air, and still panting, Alex turned her attentions to his neck and earlobe, alternatively nipping and kissing the tender flesh.
Slowly, so slowly, Sean sank down to tease her erect nipples with his teeth and tongue, while holding her waist with a hand and sliding the other in between her legs. He started to caress her with long, even strokes, occasionally sliding one or two fingers into that slippery, tight warmth, with the sole purpose to tease her.
Some moments later, she was shamelessly pushing herself against his hand, panting with lust, her back arched to grant him better access.
“Sean...” she moaned. “Please...I-I can’t bear it…”
He complied straightaway, retreating his hand and climbing up to slowly lick her lips with the tip of his tongue, while settling in between her thighs. A trembling 'oh my god' being the only sound escaping Sean's lips, before he literally held his breath as he pushed himself into Alex with excruciating slowness.
It felt so good, and Alex could just embrace him tightly, her eyes closed and her skin covered with a fine sheen of sweat.
His thrusts were slow at the beginning, becoming faster and harder, and she started to arch her back to meet his powerful strokes, moaning helplessly.
Quite soon, need took over reason, and every coherent thought was lost. At that point, their pace had become almost frenzied, quick pants and uncurbed groans filling the room, heat and sweat warming the air. They were both soaked with perspiration, clinging to each other almost desperately and trembling helplessly as the edge neared closer for the both of them.
Some moments later, Alex was sent over the edge, climaxing violently, her head thrown back and her eyes shut, writhing helplessly beneath Sean, nibbling at his shoulder trying to stifle her moans.
After a few more good, hard thrusts, Sean's party was over too, and he was moaning her name over and over as fierce throes shook his entire body. He buried his face between Alex' neck and shoulder as calmer shudders followed, trying hard to regain his breath and waiting for his pulse to slow down.
And...now what?
Alex looked down at him with wide eyes.
How could this happen?
She wasn’t supposed to bed him, Sean had a girlfriend and she had been a bitch to do such a thing to Abigail.
Maybe now he was thinking less of her, and was using her just for sex, or to forget his fight with Abigail.
Her hearth lurched at this thought and she quietly started to sob, tears blurring her view.
When Sean realized that she was crying he instantly looked at her, concern and guilt written all over his features. Was it his fault? Was she crying because of him?
He looked into her eyes for some time, gently caressing the tears away and waiting for her sobs to diminish.
"Why do you cry?" he asked then, softly, though he feared her response.
“We can’t do it, Sean. I-I can’t afford it again, I’ve suffered a lot for my boyfriend was cheating on me and I couldn’t bear it again,” she explained with trembling voice. “You did it just because you had this fight with Abigail…”
"No." he whispered, shaking his head. "No, Alex...she's the last thing on my thoughts. I know I've been a right bastard towards her, but I just...can't regret what has happened...I did it because...because I really care about you, not to forget a fight..."
“I can’t believe you...” she whispered, averting his gaze.
“I want to be at home, without my heart shattered in a million of pieces…”
"Give me a chance.” he urged, closing his eyes and tenderly rubbing his cheek against hers. "Just one. Please, Alex...I can't lose you when I've just found you...please."
“Sean...I’ve suffered a lot, and I don’t want to be hurt again. You cheated on Melanie, and now on Abigail. Honestly, how can I believe to you?” she asked again, tears spilling again from her eyes.
"Please..." Sean whispered again, almost a plea, and mentally cursed his damned weakness as his own eyes filled with tears. It was over even before it actually began. And he couldn't blame her, at all, for she was right. Of all things, how could she ever trust him? He'd been unfaithful to his wife, and now he was behaving like the worst bastard on earth towards Abigail. No, he couldn't blame Alex for not trusting him.
Wiping her tears, Alex stood up, avoiding his gaze, recollecting her clothes from the floor.
“I need some time to think. And I want to stay alone.” she stated, climbing the stairs to her bedroom, locking the door behind her.
Then she sat on the bed, and called the only person she really trusted. Gwen.
