Chapter 3 - Pain

The next morning I am up early and out of bed. I am standing on the balcony outside my room thinking about the Elf still asleep in my bed. I smile as arms wrap around my waist from behind.

"*Quel amrun mellamin" (*good morning my love) I love the voice, so soft and soothing. I turn and rest my hands on his hips. He is clothed only in a robe that ties around his waist.

"Good morning Legolas, how do you feel, are your wrists feeling ok?" I pull him to the bench on the balcony and we sit down. He lets me unwrap the bendages from his wrists even though he hisses as I peel them directly off the cuts. I lift his wrists and look at them and frown.

"Legolas what do you use to do this with?" I look up at him. He shakes his head and I frown more.

"Tell me Legolas" I try to sound stern.

"Why?" he sounds angry and upset.

"Legolas, please, I care about you, I want to know what your using." He frowns at my answer, clearly not thrilled about my question. He pulls free one hand and pulls a small dagger out of his robe.

"Legolas that's an Elven dagger" I gasp lightly at the sight of the sharp blade.

"Really Aragorn, I thought it was a human dagger" His voice is thick with sarcasim. I frown.

"*Ona ta a'amin" (*give it to me) I hold out my hand. He stands and puts the dagger into his robe then goes back inside. I sigh and rub my forhead, this wasn't going to be easy. I stand and go in the room.

"Legolas, give me the dagger" I step up next to him, knowing my voice sounds irritated. He shakes his head not looking at me. I'm now loosingmy temper.

"Legolas, give it to me, I don't want you using it." He turns to me his eyes flashing with anger.

"It is mine, you can not tell me what to do, you are not my keeper Aragorn" Seething I grab his arms and pull him to my face.

"But I our our lover, I care Legolas, I want the thing away from you, give it to me." I tighten my grip on his arms not realizing I'm doing so.

"I will not give it to you" He sounds angery as well. Growling in frustration I pull him closer and jump as he suddenly yelps in pain. Letting go I realize I have dug my nails into his arms and drawn blood. The white robe he wore was blotched with red. I gasp at the sight of the blood on the arms of his robe. I reach out to him and he back away, thet int in his eyes is more than I can handle.

"Legolas, I'm sorry, pleasy let me see" He moves away and shakes his head, tears wellnig in his eyes.

"No" he whispers softly and darts out of the bed room. I sit onthe bed and put my face in my hands. I can't beleive what I just did. I hurt him, physically, and his emotions are probably hurt aswell. Hours later I am jolted from my thought on Legolas by pounding on my door. I get up and open the door to see Arwen. One look at her face tells me something is seriously wrong.

"Come with me" She says and turns leading me down the hall to a room and I trun pale at the sight inside. Legolas lays on the bed inside not moving and paler then death. I run to his side and choke back tears. He is unclothed from the wasit up. His lower arms ar shlashed up, his chest is also cut up, and my nail wounds show clearly. I pick up his hand.

"When did you find him?" Arwen approaches me.

"A little while ago, we tended to him first." I let the tears slide down my face.

"Wil........be ok?" I look up at her. She smiled sadly at me.

"Yes, he will be fine but we do not know when he will wake" I kiss his hand and sit on the chair next to the bed.

"I will not move until he does" For five days I sit at his beside never moving. I'm looking at his face as his fingers of the hand I'm holding move. I straighten and my hope soars. He moves his head and his eyes flutter then open. I can't talk my voice is caught in my throat. He turns his head to me.

"Aragorn..." He trails off as he realizes the condition he is in.

"I'm so sorry Legolas" He raises his hand to my mouth.

"No, don't be sorry, I'm sorry, I was being stubborn" I smile softly.

"Legolas I hurt you, I should never have done that to you" I whisper as I am on the verge of tears. Slowly he sits up and pull me up onto the bed to sit next to him.

"Aragorn, don't be sorry, it was just a little blood, I did the worst" I sigh softly and smile as he wipes the tears that have slipped down my face.

"Legolas, do you hate me, for hurting you, don't pretend every thing is alright" He smiles at me softly.

"Aragorn, I love you, I will never hate you." He pulls me close and kisses me softly. When he pulls back tears are streaming down his face. I wipe them away and pull him close letting him cuddle to me, resting his head under my chin. Minutes later Elrond and Arwen come in and smile seeing him awake.

"Legoals, how do you feel" Elrond asks as he approaches us.

"I feel well Elrond, thank you" Legolas sits up more to let Elrond look at his arms and chest. I watch and rest my hands on his waist trying to provide comfort. Elrond nods satisfied.

"Don't go out alone for a while Legolas, but you are well enough to be out of bed" Legolas nods and we are about to leave when Elrond stops us.

"There is more..." He trails off as we sit back down. Arwen turns and leaves the room closing the door behind her. I look at Elrond as Legolas and I link our fingers together.

"This will be a shock, but Legolas, it seems, that you are with child, how I don't know, but you are" Legolas and I ar unable to speak. Elrond looks slightly amused as we finally regain our voices.

"Are you sure this is no mistake?" I babble. Elrond nods.

"There is no mistake, all the healers in Rivendell came to the same conclusion, as did Arwen and I, Legolas is to give birth, I am only curious about who the father is, although I have a good idea" Elrond's voice shows his amusment as well as his eyes. I look at Legolas as realization his us both.

"I'm going to be a dad" I can hardly say the words as emotion wells inside me.

"What will that make me" Legolas sounds a bit confused. Elrond smiles softly, a rare occurance.

"The child will mroe than likely call you mother, since you are the one whoe will give birth." The look on Legolas' face sends Elrond and I into fits of laughter.

"It is not funny, I am not a female, how will I get this child out when it is ready" I shrug, but Elrond answers.

"That we will know when you go into labor" He smiles and leaves knowing we want to be alone. I turn to Legolas and cup his face in my hands.

"We are going to be paretns." He nods and tears of joy slide down this face, I know that I am crying as well. I kiss his face drying his tears as he wipes my tears dry. My hands are shaking as I place them on his now flat stomach.

"I'm going to get fat aren't I" His statement makes me laugh.

"Yes and you will be as beautiful as ever" He frowns lightly and sighs. I chuckle and kiss his nose and gently rub his stomach in circles.

"Our baby is in there, amazing, you're so amazing" He blushes lightly and leans his fore-head against mine. I stand and pull him to his feet, we walk to the door and grab his now clean robe and I help him put it on. Hand in hand we walk out to the gardens.

"Legolas, you can't do that any mroe, now you have our baby to worry about too, if you loose blood so does the baby" I take hold of his hands and kiss them. He smiles and nods.

"I will try" I smile at his answer
