Coffee Shop Romance

Chapter 27

It wasn't long that we realized that not only did we not have spare clothes, but that we now had to drive back to the house. We solved the dilemma by just sitting on the warm sand, watching the sun continue to set. I'd taken a cab to Newport, and so I was going to ride back with Elijah. Before we left though, I went into one of the stores and bought snack stuff so that we had plastic bags to put on the seats of his car.

When we got back I got out my DVD of Guys and Dolls and watched it to refresh myself with it. I'd been watching that movie for twenty or so years now, but I wanted it to be fresh in my mind for tomorrow. I sat on the couch with my tissue box, and watched as Sky Masterson tried to convince the stoic Sister Sarah Brown to go to Havana with him. I couldn't wait to try my hand at this part. I'd gotten an email from Meredith earlier with the casting directors’ office address on it. I was to be there at ten in the morning.

Once I the movie was over I was convinced that I wanted to do this movie, no matter what it took. I walked upstairs to find Elijah already asleep. He'd probably just lain down for a second, but had fallen asleep in the process. "Elijah?" I gently shook him awake. "C'mon, you gotta get ready for bed." I laughed, suddenly feeling like his mother. I pulled him up and pushed him towards the bathroom.

He walked with a toothbrush in his mouth. "What time is your meeting tomorrow?"

"Eight. So I'll be gone probably all late morning."

"No problem." He swished his toothbrush. "I'll get the plane tickets all set up for you."

"Thanks." You know, this is going to be fun. I can show you around the area, they've got beautiful waterfalls and parks there. Do you like astronomy type stuff?"

"Yep, I really got into it when I did Deep Impact."

I laughed, "I've not seen that actually. But anyway, Greenbank Observatory is just over and hour away, and it's a pretty cool place. They give tours and you drive around all their dishes."

"Sounds like fun" He smiled and kissed me.

"Awe...thanks. Just what I needed, slobbery toothpaste kisses." I used his grey t-shirt to get it off my face.

He laughed and popped his toothbrush back into his mouth. "Well then I'm glad to be around." He said around it. I tried to lie down and sleep but I couldn't close my eyes. So much was going through my head that I couldn't relax. When Elijah crawled into bed and wrapped a warm and comforting arm around me I felt better, but I still couldn't quiet my mind enough for sleep. So I contented myself by laying there and listened to him sleep.

The next morning I found myself surprisingly refreshed. I'd slept very little, but my mind was clear and focused on my meeting. I ate a small breakfast and left a note for the still sleeping Elijah. I honestly can't see how he got up at half four every morning for make up in New Zealand. 'Oh well..' I thought. I climbed into my cab and headed off into the city for my meeting, hoping all went well for me.

*Elijah's POV*

I woke up to an empty house. It was kind of sad, but at the same time I knew Sarah was off having a very important meeting. I crawled out of bed and went into the kitchen where there was some lunch stuff set out. A little note on the fridge held up by an alphabet letter magnet. It was a "U", and I smiled as I read the words

"Hey, U know what? U really got a hold on me, just like this U magnet's really got a hold on my note. Ha-ha. Be back later, Love Sarah"

I sat down at the table and began to put together something to eat. I then called the airport and got two tickets on tonight’s 6:15 flight. I called her uncle to give him the flight times, and they said they'd have a room all ready for us. He seemed like a nice enough person.

Ring Ring....Ring--

"Hello?"

"Hey!" Sarah practically squealed. "Guess what?"

"Chocolate's being given away for free at every Macy's in town?"

"No I got—Wait...Is it really? No no, you're distracting me, no I've been given the part of Sarah Brown! I got the part!"

"That's fantastic!" I could tell she was very happy. I was so proud of her myself.

"Shooting starts in five months, I'm so excited."

"That's really great! Where is the shoot?"

"New York City of course. And some in Havana, Cuba but only for a few days. So did you get a hold of the airport?"

"Yeah, our flight is at 1:45."

"Oh okay, good. Thanks hon. I'll be home soon."

"Okay. See you then. Love you."

"Love you too."
