*~*~*~*~*~
Elrond looked back at the Arthon, when Haldir exited his study and he sighed when he saw that arrogant expression marked on the other's face. He really didn't want to be alone with him right now but he needed to clear some terms of their arranged marriage which was yet left undecided on Elrond's side. He knew he was stuck in the contract his mother in law conjured up for him and he promised to himself that next time he saw Galadriel he wouldn't be so calm of nature towards her. It was all of her fault he was engaged to this monster in the first place and he was all tangled up in something that was so unfamiliar to him. How could two people plan his life like that and act lik did did not exist at all, and why was Arthon so important for Imladris's sake? What he could do to save Imladris that Elrond could not. Was he really that weak so he could not prevent evil from entering his realm?
Arthon was quiet and he looked around the study, wondering what to say or how to place more insults upon the stubborn half-elven head. He saw the uncertainty in Elrond's features and he read what the other was thinking, easily as if he had read the open book. He knew that he was a bit rude since he arrived to this realm and he treated everyone like a dirt but that was the only way he acted when he was around anyone. He didn't have patience for people, and that is why people avoided him, knowing they would never come to an agreement with him. He didn't want to begin conversation with Elrond and he knew that at the end they wouldn't have anything to discuss. Marriage is sealed and he would be damned if he would back up from that contract. It wasn't that he wanted to marry Elrond, nor did he want to rule this realm, but the promise to Lady Galadriel he was being true too and he would not break it. He promised to her he would do anything in his power to stop the evil creeping upon this place and his promise is not any written lie, most people used to deceive by.
Elrond saw him turn his back to him and he wondered why did this silence ruled the room when they should be discussing some matters at hand. Elrond saw him exploring his study and he just kept his words to himself, waiting for the other one to start speaking, because he knew that at the end he would eventually.
Arthon came to the bookshelf and he read the names of the books neatly lined in alphabetical order. He noticed that most of these editions were about Gil-Galad and he released a chuckle as he remembered the Noldorin king and Elrond his herald always by his side. He remembered that time he almost came to fight theer ker king, but he was not a Lord back then and he had to take an orders from that pompous idiot. He was a warrior of great skill and soon after he had came to the court he had earned the lordly title. But before he had any title he had a life threatening spat with Gil-Galad which almost cost him of his honor and his head.
All those poems about High King's bravery made Arthon sick to the stomach and he had to admit that he had hated Gil-Galad all those centuries for the right reasons and the matters of his heart. No, it was not the love of the King that his heart came to break, but the someone else's love he didn't get to have, and Gil-Galad was it's only obstacle. As he stared at those books he remembered cold gray eyes telling him to back away and his anger clearly burning inside of him, as his desperation was clearly written on his soul that day.
FLASHBACK
"You will not pursue this matter no more, Arthon. He is mine and he will stay this way. Your courting will not interest him because he clearly loves his King and soon he will serve me more ways I will desire of him to. Point your horizons toward the other servants in my court, because my own Herald is taken."
The gray eyes pierced the Arthon and he backed up a little not believing his King was saying this to him. He came in the good grace to ask for permission from the King to court the elf his his heart desired, but he was shunned because the King had an eye for the same elf too.
"But sire, I really feel something..."
"I do not care, so do not express this to me. Yill ill not dare to admit this to him or your head will be lost if you do. You are dismissed, Arthon."
END FLASHBACK
"That bastard." Arthon whispered to himself and he turned to Elrond because the other wondered who was he referring those words to.
He didn't want to think any more about that king and his mind was set on the other subject that was still uned, ed, which was this upcoming marriage with Elrond.
"So, Elrond."
"Arthon" Other acknowledged his name wondering about the exploring gaze he received from Arthon.
"May I inquire why your agreement won't lay in this marriage? Why would you want to refuse this alliance when surely you need the help ruling this place." Elrond feared other would ask him this and he answered other's inquiry as calmly as he could.
"Because, Arthon, you are the one repelling person I cannot put up with. You came in here ordering me and my personnel around and you claim I do not have a say in this engagement. Why would I want you for my husband? I have too many problems already, and I don't need the other nuisance to deal with."
"Elrond, I am not apologizing type so don't except for me to say I am sorry, but the most I can do is promise to be a little pleasant towards .... you people. I will not rule this place, if that is what you fear, but I will help you build more steady army and I will show you the ways to fight darkness creeping into your realm. I only want some peace of respect from your personnel and I will not mend into your private matters. We will not be lovers and we will not share the bed. This marriage will be simple as we make it and I will try to stay out of your way if you stay out of mine."
Arthon said all that in indifferent tone taking seat behind the Elrond's desk as if was his own.
"But you don't understand. If I marry you, you will rule this place equally as me, and I don't think that I can share Imladris with you"
"Oh, Elrond. You are indeed thickheaded. If you don't marry me there won't be nothing to rule. This marriage is predestined in vision and it will take a place whether you like it or not. I have seen evil and I have tasted it in my mind. It is ky aky and it won't stop until this place is a dust and your people are destroyed. You would risk this place, just because you feel dislike towards me. Tsk, Tsk how foolish you are." Arthon deeply chuckled and Elrond stared at him in annoyance. He knew that he needed time to think about this marriage and Arthon didn't give him much time to do that.
"I need time to think about our marriage. My decision is only mine and this marriage will be prevented if I disagree to it. Nothing will be decided behind my back, because this is my life and I choose what is best for me. Now if you will excuse me I have to talk to my children. Like me, they are confused by all this." Elrond didn't wait for Arthon's response because he though it irrelevant right now. He left the other Lord in his study as he made his way to his bedroom, sighing deeply as he wondered how to explain his situation to the twins.

Haldir was about to enter his bedroom when he saw Stinah coming from the opposite direction, his head lowered to the ground. Stinah looked tired and Haldir wondered if this was the day he got off the borders.
Haldir looked at the pale face as the tired eyes encountered him and he stopped right in front of him, giving a Haldir cold glare.
"Look, who I have a chance to meet again. Stinah, how fare you today dear." Haldir teasingly asked the other one but he only got scowling expression pointed at him, making his inquiry almost gone to the deaf ears.
"Haldir." Other just said that name in simple tone, lowering his head again and yawning as he passed the other one, but he didn't have chance to escape this meeting, because Haldir pulled at his sleeves, making him stop in the process.
"Aren't you going to greet me, lover. How rude of you to ignore me like this." Haldir pouted making his expression a little softer but he still held Stinah in the place, not wanting to let his ex-lover go yet.
"Why do you think you deserve any kind of greeting coming from me. You deserve only curses coming from my mouth, you cheating bastard. Let go off me." Stinah only responded with annoyance as this menace held him in place, and he didn't want to deal with Haldir right now. He was tired and he needed a place to stay, because his room was occupied with three Lorien elves. He didn't know where to go now and he decided that maybe he should go back to the cabins where there was one small bed where he would take some sleep. He didn't count on it that he would meet Haldir so soon and now he was nervous, as he wanted to run away and hide.
"No not yet. I need to talk to you, Stinah."
"About what. Our time of talking was done centuries ago. Now you can only see me as I turn my back on you. Let me go, Haldir. I have to find a place to sleep because your group had taken all available quarters." Stinah's irritability was quickly turning to angeriness and his tired mind couldn't comprehend why Haldir couldn't let him go right now. What did they need to talk about? Nothing they could say to each other could heal wounds Haldir brought to his soul.
"If you don't want to talk then I will not pursue that matter anymore, Stinah. If you are looking for any available rooms I must tell you that all of them are taken at this time. If you would like you could join me in mine because I have one extra bed in it." Haldir gently said and he looked as the other's tired eyes gazed at him with suspicion.
"Haldir, I would rather stay in the stables and sleep with the horses than share any kind a room with you. Now if you'll excuse me." He said shortly and he turned to leave but the hold Haldir had on him prevented him from doing that.
"No, I am still not letting you go. I know our past was not perfect and I did the things to hurt you, but it is foolish to still hold that against me. I am offering you this in good grace and I won't make your stay in my rooms uncomfortable and I won't mention anything about our past relationship if that is your wish. Come on, I won't bite. I think some rest would do you good." Haldir pulled Stinah inside of his room before the other could object and he placed the other's things on the other empty bed. Stinah couldn't believe the other's nerve for making him submit to this foolishness and he was at loss of the words.
"Listen, I will be back later, because right now I have to check on something. Make yourself comfortable and you can use the bathing room if that is your wish to do." He turned to Stinah again." I just need to say something right now I didn't have a chance to utter the first time when I met you at cabins, was it two days ago. I know that maybe you will have a hard time believing this but I really did miss you, Stinah." Haldir's gentle glance penetrated Stinah and the other one just bit his lip, preventing his tired mind to release any kind of response to this admittance. He wanted to say that he missed the other one also, but that he would kept hidden because he didn't want to reveal anything to Haldir.
"I shall go now." Haldir felt embarrassed a little because he admitted this to the other elf with honesty and he came to the drawer of his night stand, pulling some document from it. He then turned and left without even one word, and Stinah sighed as he took the seat on the empty bed where his things were laying. He wondered why the other one said that to him, after all the time they spend apart. Didn't he know how hurtful those words were to him and how much time he had spent getting over Haldir? He didn't know if he should stay here but he dec he he would linger a little while and rest a bit before he confronts Haldir and leaves this room.
