After Party Excitement!
Chapter 25
We passed the food around, laughing at jokes and sharing stories of our activities for the past few months. As the hours crept by we watched DVD's played, drinking games, and just chilled listening to music. Around 1am it seemed to turn into a bizarre sleep over. Dom sat at my feet and I played with his hair, twisting it and braiding some. When that was done we painted each others nails. I found a cute shade of pink in my purse, and Dom got out a Black from a drawer in the kitchen.
I painted black stripes onto his nails, while he painted pink poka-dots on mine. Then when we were done we switched and I added a pink stripe in the middle of the black ones, and he added black dots to mine. Just for grins we held down one of Elijah's hands and painted the pinky nail pink and black. I think he let us though, because he sort of stood there while we did it.
One of the movie channels were playing Casablanca, so Ali and I got on the couch with our tissues to watch it while the boys sat in the kitchen and had a few drinks. After a while Elijah and Billy walked in and sat with their girls on the couch to watch the end of the movie with us. As the credits were rolling so were my tears. Elijah laughed, "Well Miss Waterworks are you ready to head home?"
I sniffed and wiped my eyes, "Tell me truthfully...how do I look?"
He tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. "Like you've just cried for an hour and a half. But still very beautiful." He kissed the tip of my nose and laughed.
"What?" I laughed at his face.
"You've got a wet puppy dog nose." He grinned and helped me up off the couch. Dom lay sleeping on the floor in front of the table, and Billy had fallen asleep behind the sleeping Ali on the couch. By the time we made it back to his place it was three in the morning and we were exhausted. We didn't even make it to the room, we collapsed on the couch and fell instantly asleep.
Ring Ring!
I groaned and stretched my arms over my head. Sleeping on the couch had not been the smartest idea for me. I'd been sleeping peacefully when I suddenly heard my mobile going off. I dug in my purse and flipped open the phone. "Hello?" Ugh...I sounded so tired.
"Sarah, it’s Meredith; I've got you an audition!"
I was instantly awake. "An audition for what?" I walked into the kitchen so I wouldn't disturb the sleeping Elijah on the couch.
"MGM is going to remake the musical Guys and Dolls. I showed them your resume and they want to see about the role of Sister Sarah Brown for you."
"Are you serious?" I almost squealed. "I've been in love with that play since I was a small girl."
"So you are familiar with the songs and dialogue?" Meredith exclaimed.
"Since I was four or five, I’ve been seeing it over and over. It’s a great show."
"Well the casting director would like to see you tomorrow afternoon at three, at his office. I'll email you the exact address later today and get you his contact information. Break a leg girl!"
"Mer you are the best! Bye!" I hung up the phone and felt as light as a cloud. 'Wow...this is got to be one of the best roles I've ever been told about.' I practically danced back into the living room, but I was too hyper to try and get back to sleep. I looked at my watch; it was almost ten in the morning. I decided to just make a small breakfast and head to the mall to window shop. I needed to get my mind on other things or my head would probably explode, though the songs of the show had already found its way into my mind. I found myself driving while humming "I'll Know" and "Pet me Papa". I suddenly couldn't wait for the day to be over.
My mobile started ringing while I was in Macy's looking at shirts. "Hello?"
"Ya want to meet me for lunch?" Elijah asked.
"Sure thing sweets, when and where do you want to meet for this joyous event?"
"Well how 'bout Cheesecake Factory at Newport Beach say in an hour?"
"That sounds very yummy! See ya then, love ya."
"Love you too, bye"
"Bye." I hung up and took the shirts I'd found to the register.
