The secret life

Greenwood the Great, 1526 T.A.

The hall was filled with laughter. Elves from every realm had come for this special occasion. Life had find its way into the kingdom again. Often guests stayed in the palace, new alliances had been made, friendships formed once again.
On a large table, the guests of honor sat. Glorfindel and Erestor were feeding each other some sweets. Arwen couldn’t help but giggle at the sight. Elrond smiled with kind eyes at his sons, who were holding hands under the table.
Next to them sat the twins grandparents, the lord and the lady of the Golden Wood with their new marchwarden, who was no one else than Rumil.
Thranduil stood with his wife at the entrance of the hall.
“See, meleth, our home has become a place of joy again.”
“It is time now, herven-nîn.”
Thranduil turned around and looked at his son.
“Are you ready, ion-nîn?” He asked.
Legolas took a deep breath and nodded.
A servant announced their appearance and everyone stood. The royal family made its way through the hall. Thranduil sat on his throne, his wife at his left and for the first time in his life, Legolas took seat to the king’s right, now officially showing his state as crownprince of the realm. Behind the family stood some Greenwood nobles and the captain of the guard.
Thranduil gestured for everyone to take seat again, then he spoke with pride in his voice:
“My dear friends, today is a day of joy for me and the whole realm. You all have come here today, to celebrate my ion’s coming of age. From this day on, he will sit at my side as your rightful crownprince.”
Applause and cheering sonded through the hall. The king silenced his guests once again.
“But that is not the only reason for our happiness today. I have to make yet another announcement. Despite his young age, my ion has found the love of his life. We appreciate his choice, for this elfhas found his way into all our hearts. I’m happy to tell you, that they will bind their souls together tomorrow night and you all are invited to witness their vows.”
Again cheering from every elf in the hall.
Thranduil made a sign and the minstrels started to play.
“So Legolas, now you should show our guests the elf that captured your heart. Dance with your beautiful warrior.”
Legolas smiled, rose from his seat and then went to the captain of the guard. He offered the warrior his hand, the captain bowed shortly and accepted. Together they made their way to the dancefloor and began to move with the music.
“So my dearest Haldir, how do you like your new position in my adar’s court?”
“Which one do you mean? As captain of the guards or as prince consort?”
“Both!”
“I will try to live up to all that is expected of me. What of you – how does it feel, to sit to your adar’s right?”
“It will take me some time to get used to the feeling!”
“Ahh, my sweet Legolas, I’m sure that is just because you had problems to sit at all today. I was a little rough last night, wasn’t I?”
“Ssht, they can hear us... and believe me – I will make you pay for last night!”
“I’m looking forward to that, ernil-nîn. I love you.”
“Love you too.”
A smile graced the warriors lips and he looked dreamily into his fiancé’s eyes.
“What are you thinking right now, Haldir?” Legolas asked.
“Nothing. I just remembered a promise I once made. See, didn’t I told you, I would dance with you on the day of your coming of age?”
