"Elladan, pick up your feet. I cannot drag you all the way to our father's rooms. You have to walk by yourself too." Elrohir said that a little bit angrily as he held his brother's waist while they walked through the halls of Imladris.
"I am trying, Elrohir. But I am still weak. Do not yell at me because I do not have the strength to walk, gwador." Elladan breathlessly said as he tried to hold on to his twin, and he tried to keep himself on the feet but the tiredness took him down every time he took a step.
"I am not yelling at you. I am just trying to get us to our father's rooms. You needed air air so I brought you with me and now I wish that I had left you in the healing rooms. You are too weak to walk, brother."
Elrohir grumble he he elevated his brother but it didn't work because his twin lacked the strength in his legs.
They came around the corner and Elrohir thanked Gods that they were just couple of steps away from their fathers study. They saw Haldir standing beside Elrond's study and they wondered why was the Marchwarden eavesdropping beside the closed door. Elrohir's curiosity fired out and he pulled his brother more strongly with him, eliminating a painful gasp from his brother. Elladan was literally dragged those couple of inches and he wanted to kick his brother for handling him like this.
"Haldir, what are you doing." Elrohir asked the silver haired elf but the other one just shushed him.
"Shhhh Elrohir I am listening." Haldir whispered as he encountered the flustered twins beside him and he tried to listen for the signs of life inside of the Elrond's study.
"Listening for what. What is going on?" Elrohir asked again but Haldir just kept quiet and then his ears perched up as he heard some commotion behind the door. It seemed to him that those two inside were fighting violently and he stood up, starting to pound on the door.
"Arthon, Let me in. Open these doors." Hlledlled but he still heard that same commotion and Elrohir had heard it too. He wondered who was inside of his father's chamber and he suddenly remembered that he had the key to this door, right in his pocket. He stole that key from Erestor millennia ago so he could steal some of his father's wine when he was away, but now that little trinket would be very useful for him to find out what was amiss in his father's study.
"Haldir, stop pounding on the door and come here and hol bro brother. I have a key of my father's rooms and it's in my pocket. Hurry up." Haldir thanked the Valar that he had sent him Elrohir and he quickly came to the other's twin's side holding him before he had a chance to fall down.
"Elrohir pulled the small key from his pocket and he quickly unlocked those doors, opening them up with a panicky expression on his face. He pulled his twin with him and he saw Haldir rushing inside as if there was some danger to be found in there.
Elrohir saw his father on the floor with someone strange siting on top of him and the anger triggered in his features. He forget who he was holding for a minute and he released that weight from him, hearing the slump behind him. He ignored that for a while as he released the angry call, warning that strange elf to remove himself from his father.
"Hey you. Get off my father, before my fist starts working on your face." Haldir came behind Arthon and the other one released Elrond from the grip, standing up and facing his opponents.
Elladan was struggling on the floor as he tried to sit up and see what was happening in the room. He also saw somebody holding his father down but Elrohir released him at that moment and he had lost his footing. Now he was on the floor, ignored by his own twin, and his curiosity was killing him but he had no strength to stand up.
"Hmmm...no harm was done to Elrond, youngling. As the matter of the fact he was the one who had already damaged my face." He showed the blood that was flowing from his lower lip and Elrond got up facing his fiance with the defensive tone.
"Well, Arthon. You deserved it, and I am going to do it again unless you apologize to me. Don't you never, ever dare to speak about my family background that way." Elrond started to go forward but Haldir's gentle hand stopped him, restraining him from strangling arrogant Lord.
"I am not apologizing to you Elrond. You have started it by insulting my noble blood, I was just merely avenging my honor. And who if I may ask are you." Arthon asked Elrohir in irritable voice but he realized that this was one of the famous Imladris twins, when he saw the other one sprawled on the floor.
"I am Elrohir, Son of Elrond. And this behind me is my brother, Elladan. And may I request the same from you. Who are you? I believe I never met you, stranger." Elrohir said and he pointed at his twin without turning back to see if his brother was standing behind him. He forgot about Elladan's presence for a moment when he saw this stranger manhandling his own father and he didn't realize that Elladan had fallen on the floor.
"How nice to meet you, young one. I am a Lord Arthon from the western Mirkwood, if you didn't hear about me yet. It is strange that such a pretty children came from the half-elven line. It must be your mother's beauty you inherited but tell me Elrohir, what is your twin doing sprawled on the floor." Arthon arched his eyebrow in question and Elrohir gasped as he realized that his brother was indeed on the floor. Elladan looked angry for being ignored and his embarrassment grew because he had been shown as the weakling in front of the legendary Lord. Elrond noticed his second son on the floor and he wondered too why was Elladan out of the healing bed so early. He knew that his son was getting better but he still couldn't use his legs to walk and he assumed that he had arrived here with the help of his twin.
'Oh, Valar. Gwador I am so sorry. Are you all right." Elrohir quickly got down beside his brother's side and he flinched as he saw his brother's pained expression upon his face. Elrond came behind Elrohir and he asked the same question, concern pouring from his features.
"Elladan what are you doing here. You should be resting, not attempting to walk yet." Elladan just growled as he was raised to his feet by his brother, and he smacked his younger twin upside his head.
"Thanks a lot brother for making me feel like an idiot just now." Elladan whispered that to his twin and he turned to his father's attention, trying to fight the gravity from pulling him down.
"I wanted to walk a little, father and I requested some aid from my twin while doing that. I do not think it will do me some harm to catch some fresh air."
Elrohir fringed as he received that unexpected smack on his head, he he held onto his brother careful not to drop him again, or his twin would be very cross with him.
"Ah, one happy retarded family "Arthon said under his breath but Haldir caught those words and he gave the Lord one warning glare.
"Listen, it is so nice for you all to show me how you care for each other, rather foolish if you ask me, but I would ask of you three if you would go away for a while." He pointed at Haldir and twins." I need to talk to your father and that conversation involves just me and him." Arthon said in his knowing sarcastic voice and twins just glared at the rudeness that elf showed. Arthon carried himself high and Elladanw thw this instant why this Lord was so feared for. He had a strong form and he was handsome in face and his eyes were striking blue, but there was also something dangerously seductive about the myth Lord. Elladan was aware Arthon's attitude was irritating everyone who was around him, and that had made this strange Lord so infamous.
"They are not going nowhere. You are not Lord of this realm to command my sons and friends where they should go and what they should do." Elrond yelled and twins looked at their father in the wonder, nevxpecxpecting that tone of voice from their own father. Their father was always calm elf, with curios mind and wisdom he possessed, but never he was the one to be of the violent nature.
"But I will be soon, Elrond. Have you forgotten that I am to marry you in two weeks time and that I shall also be ruler of your realm. Don't tell me that your fall to the floor had also injured your head."
Elrond mumbled incoherently and Arthon assumed that the other was cursing him under the breath.
"No, that cannot be true. Father?" Elrohir called for his father to respond to his inquiry, but Elrond just bit his lower lip as his fury got lit inside of him.
"That my son, is the matter of some discussion between me and Lord Arhton.I would ask of you and your brother to leave for a few minutes so I may discuss that arrangement with him? Do not worry, Elrohir. Nothing is yet decided, but you may ure ure my heart will not lay with any kind of agreement." Elrond patiently answered those questions to his son, and he turned smiling a little to those two confused identical faces.
Elladan just kept quiet as he heard the conversation between all of them and just like the Haldir his gaze held no difference in it. He knew that if he was capable he would wring the intruding elf's neck and he would rip his bloated head from it's body. He just kept his angeriness inside knowing that with given time he would release it upon the other elf.
Elrohir just stared at his father shaking his head in disbelief while he tried to hold his brother in the standing position.
"Please Elrohir. I shall reveal everything to you in a moment but right now I need to clear something up with Lord Arthon. You two may wait in my chambers, and when I finish this I will come and talk to you." Elrohir nodded as he pulled his brother with him and they strolled inside of the other door, where Elrond's bedchamber lay.
"Haldir may you do the same. You can wait in my bedchamber if you like, but I need to do this alone." Haldir who was quiet up till now, started talking as he suspiciously glared at the Lord Arthon.
"Are you sure I can leave you with him. I am afraid that you will be after each other's neck if I leave this room even for a minute." Haldir said with suspicion pouring from his form and Elrond smiled at the protectiveness of his friend.
"Yes, I am sure, Haldir. We will act civilized this time, and I hope it will not be on just my part. You may leave us. We will act in peace."
"All right. If you are sure then, I shall leave you. I will retrieve to my own chamber for a while but I will be back before this conversation has ended. I advise you not to dare and do something stupid Lord Arthon. Elrohir is in the other room and I think he will object any violence you would bring to his father."
Haldir glared coldly at the other elf and Arthon just smirked waving of his warning as if he didn't hear it.
"And I advise you to stick your long nose into someone else's business, Haldir of Lorien. I shall not be advised or threatened by any of you imbeciles, and I am not the first one who had provoked our last fight. Go away before you fire my temper and I separate the body from your head."
Arthon said that in the cold manner knowing he had provoked that fiery anger Haldir was so known for and he prepared his body to avoid the coming attack.
"Why you...."
"Haldir." Haldir stopped himself in tracks as he heard Elrond's ordering voice and he unclenched his fists, as he shoot daggers at the arrogant elf.
"He is not worth it." Elrond added and Haldir shook his head in agreement, as he left the room in haste, afraid that his temper would cost Arthon of his life.
