Mirkwood
A/N: Sorry it's been so long! I had writers block! Hope this chapter jives! :)
It had been two weeks since Legolas had left for Mirkwood and things in Gondor were not good. Denise missed Legolas so much and Heidi was being ignored. Celeborn was kept busy as he helped Aragorn and Elrond with various things around the palace. Arwen and her child were doing well and the ladies helped her with her son. Arwen knew that her grandfather was angry about the incident in Gondor but felt that he should at least talk to Heidi. He had been avoiding her for two weeks. Whenever he wasn't in council he could be seen walking the gardens. Arwen had noticed that Heidi and Denise were eating less, not sleeping and they were always cold. She feared that they were starting to fade. Arwen knew what she had to do. She had to send the girls to Mirkwood, alone. Legolas would keep Denise from fading and Celeborn would see how much Heidi meant to him. Arwen told the maidens to watch her son and she walked to Denise's chambers. Knocking lightly she entered and saw them sitting at a low table playing chess.
"Hello Arwen!" Denise bubbled as she got up and embraced Arwen.
Heidi smiled at Arwen and finished her turn before she to got up and hugged Arwen. "What brings you here?"
"I have an idea." Arwen then stated her plan and watched their reactions.
"Sneak away to Mirkwood?" Deinse asked excitedly.
Arwen nodded but was interrupted.
"Celeborn would be furious if I left Gondor. I do not wish to anger him anymore." Heidi whispered.
"Heidi listen to me grandfather is being an ass. He knows how much ypu mean to him. Now we need to show him your not to be taken advantage of. Ignoring you for two weeks! It's rediculous!" Arwen took Heidi's hands in her.
Heidi smiled and looked at Denise. "Fine then we leave tonight."
Denise jumped up and started Dancing around the room. Laughing they started to pack a few nessacary items.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
(Later that night)
Denise and Heidi crept quietly down the stairs, they grabbed the bag of food hidden by the door as they left. They ran until they hit the woods, where Arwen had left two horses saddled. They mounted the horses, tied their gear and food onto their saddles. They had their bows slung across their backs and swords at their sides. They were dressed in black leggings, black tunics, and black boots. Their hair was secured up in buns and after a quick hug of reassurance they rode off into the night.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
They rode hard for three days only stopping when their human half made it's self known. By the third day they could see the borders of Mirkwood. They grinned at each other and rode on. They paused at a stream to bathe and change into fresh leggings and tunics. The horses refused to enter Mirkwood, as Arwen had told them to expect. They took their packs off the horses and sent them home. They continued on foot when a horrible smell permated the woods. Orcs. Denise looked at Heidi and nodded as she unsheated her sword as Heidi took out her bow and readied it. Suddenly a horde of Orcs came running at them screaming in their foul language. Heidi loosed arrow after arrow in an attempt to slow them down, the ones that got through Denise dispatched. But soon their luck ran out. The Orcs swarmed them and Heidi tossed her bow aside and pulled out her sword. They fought bravely and killed many but more were coming. Suddenly a wave of arrows rained around them again and again.
"Wood elves!" Denise screamed to Heidi who nodded and doged an arrow.
"Doesn't look like they know we are here!" Heidi cursed.
A foul creature grabbed Denise and raised his dagger to finish her off when suddenly an elf appeared and slayed the Orc. Denise fell to the ground gasping. The elf looked at her and she realized that she and Heidi had their hoods up. The elves didn't know who they were helping. A few seconds later more elves came from hiding and the slayed the Orcs. Denise stood and walked over to Heidi.
"Are you ok?" Denise asked her friend.
"Yes...are you?"
Denise nodded and turned to the wood elves who were now staring at them. Before they could speak they were bound and gagged by the elves. The leader of the elves told his men to escort them to Mirkwood for the crime of tresspassing. They were led for four hours into the heart of Mirkwood. They were led to a good sized palace in the heart of Mirkwood. They were led inside and into the throne room. Denise saw Legolas standing next to an elf that looked just like him.
"Milord Thranduil..." one guard said bowing.
"Yes?" Thranduil inquired looking at not the guard but at Denise and Heidi.
"We found these two trespassing on your lands." the guard explaind.
"Why are they covered in Orc blood?" Legolas asked.
"They were being attacked...."
"They were being attacked and you treat them like common criminals? Release them!" Thranduil commanded angrily.
The guard severed their bonds and they removed the gags.
"Who are you? Are you alright?" Thranduil asked.
Sighing Denise pushed her hood off and looked at Legolas, Heidi followed suit. Legolas stared at them stunned.
